Our organization signed up as a business account, and were amazed at how much support our little brand-new non-profit received. The name "Community First" was very evidently the primary consideration in their business, and we noticed and appreciated it every step of the way. We deal mostly with the Richland branch, but the folks over in Kennewick were stellar the one time I stopped in there. They're willingness to treat me so amazingly even with a tiny little account has prompted me to switch all my personal accounts away from a local credit union that spends too much money on marketing. Oh, and they have candy. So enjoy, or beware as the case may be.

I came in with my marriage certificate to show how my last name had changed and they took a copy of it for my file. The name on my account,/card was never changed. I tried calling and emailing the lady (one of them with an actual desk and semi-cubicle) whose business card I had obtained when submitting my marriage certificate to ask why my name hasn't been changed yet and I never received a call back or email response. Fast forward a year later of no customer service, I came in to close my account with the teller who, in turn, called three people in the cubicles behind us to possibly help me to close my account with Bank of America and she was told to tell me that it would be 15 minutes. I turned around to see them all chatting and laughing, only all getting up from their seats to walk away from their cubicles together. I said, "Excuse me? You told her you tell me it would be 15 minutes to speak to only one of you three? " The shorter, older male of the group said, "oh I'll take you now." He grabbed the younger male of the group to help me close my account. He used the younger male's log-in information on the computer and then when he had to call another number to complete the closure of my account, he used the younger male's name again instead of his own. It was sad to see this happening to what seemed like the trainee. Not once did he communicate to the younger gentleman the process of what he was doing to help me finally close my account, just seeming to use him as a stand-in. I had to ask for my official account closure letter before leaving in case they didn't process that well either! Oh.... and he almost didn't let me close my account because my last name was different, not my address or social security number, so I had to tell him, "I did respectfully submit my marriage certificate for your files with an employee a year ago and they never processed it nor returned my inquiries as to what happened." Uggg. I hope to never have to deal with Bank of America again.... not even as a running sponsor on my shirt!

The tellers here ARE super nice. They've taken care of me when I've needed more-than-ATM service. Lately, they've had a person in the lobby whose purpose is to welcome you, ask how they can help, and make small talk. Yeah, I don't really need this. The lobby in this bank is HUGE! I wonder if this place was something else in another time....perhaps it was the previous Justice League Of America fortress?? I don't know. Needed a service today and called over to the branch 6+ times to assure that the manager would be there as she is their only Notary currently. 6 times put on hold and 6 times was ultimately disconnected by the electronic "helper." Went to the branch to find 3 tellers trying to help 20+ people, waited in line to learn that it was the Manager's day off. Left today and stopped in at Gesa near Queensgate. My wife and I had new accounts setup in under 20 minutes and now get to go through all the hassle of transferring my business and personal accounts, but I am doing so with a pep in my step as I know I don't have to deal with WF anymore.

I've banked with HAPO Community Credit Union for over 15 years. I disputed a charge where a…read moremerchant failed to deliver merchandise and did not issue a refund. Despite providing documentation and my history as a member, HAPO denied the dispute and sided with the merchant. The funds were not credited back to me, and I never received the merchandise. This experience seriously damaged my trust in the institution. Based on this outcome, I cannot recommend HAPO if you expect strong consumer protection when a dispute arises.

Update 11/17/25 I originally reviewed these guys with one star after having talked to multiple rude CSR's. Then today after talking to a young man named Micheal he was able to clear up the confusion and misinformation issues I was having. And get me on the right track. Some representatives are just better with customers and more knowledgeable in the field, which is the difference. I don't know if you guys (Gesa) are open to suggestions, but perhaps having more rigorous training on how to navigate the online platform and communicate with customers would help your ratings.

She put not ein my file to send receipts each time. Now Its Feb- no receipt came for another deposit.. I had to call again. They didn't send one so it will come sometime. This time the supervisor is going to be sure there is a note in my account! They also want to push me to driving 15 miles away in Seattle area to deposit in person.
