    First off, I'm a huge fan of credit unions. I'll never work with 'big banks' again…read more BUT - the requirement to execute 8 debit card transactions/month in order to earn ANY interest is absolutely idiotic. When I moved to Astoria I opened accounts here and transferred a very large sum of cash. After two months noticed, NO INTEREST. Then I read the fine print. So I moved almost all the money out to another CU that pays interest. But I keep my accounts here in order to do local transactions. Super friendly 'tellers'. Lovely clean lobby. Many local branches (I used the Scapoose branch to get a cashiers check). This Astoria branch has a superb change counting machine for members - quickly counts your coins and issues a scrip so you can deposit to your account. This branch also has two drive up ATMs. I hope they come to their senses and change the rule on interest, in the meantime, I'll keep the bulk of my money elsewhere.

    Unfortunate event occurred week of December 27. Went to TLC Credit Union in Warrenton, Oregon…read moreand proceeded to withdraw $100 from TLC ATM at drive up. Problem: Only received $40. With vehicle still in place, went inside to get help. Teller (branch manager) tells me to call my own credit union for help. Huh? My own credit union is over 1000 miles away and was closed for day. I requested someone go out to ATM and check. I was refused that service. I upped request saying I could not move vehicle until ATM was checked. Answer from TLC : "Ok, we will tow your vehicle." I would have rated the…read moreservice that we had received from the credit union as a 4 or 5 out of 5 stars until the last few years when our wonderful credit union went corporate when Fibre Federal took control. Now, it is nearly impossible to connect with our credit union by phone. The BillPay customer service is terrible. Three months ago a payment of nearly $500 was made from our checking account that should not have been made. We have been trying to get that payment back during that three month time period. We have called BillPay customer service at least six times and gone to our local credit union branch in Tillamook two times in attempts at getting the funds returned to our account. While the tellers at our local branch are nice and friendly we seem to get no where concerning this return of our funds. Yesterday when we called the BillPay customer service number we were finally told that we would receive a check for our missing money in four to six weeks. This is completely ridiculous for us to have to wait more than four months to have funds of nearly $500 returned to our account when it never should have been taken out of our account to begin with. Fibre Federal TLC BillPay needs much better customer service!

    Brand new car loan through Great NorthWest. Giving them money for my loan is like pulling teeth…read more It's archaiac and terrible that you practically can't self-serve. The fact that they have to verify your account informaiton manually in order to create an online account is ridiculous. My dead father's information was still on some of the lender info from the dealership - they've done business with them in the past - so if my mom's phone number hadn't been hand written by her on the loan paperwork we would not have been able to set up the account. Meanwhile we got no emails stating that the account hadn't been set up so we just kept trying. Then we tried to call and use the automated system but it would ring and then said it was down and hung up. I was informed by an agent that apparently it's been down for over a week and they are working on it. Finally we get into the online account and they want us to set up a payment by ACH which I will not do since they take too long to process and I need the money out of the account now so I can make sure that the payment is processed. The service rep told me it takes 3 to 5 business days. I work in an industry that takes ACH payments and I know that it can take much longer than that. I don't want to risk a late fee because I assume the ACH has posted and something else comes out of my account and then causes my car payment to bounce. And then on top of that I get the pleasure of paying a "convenience" fee. Laughable. Well guess we're stuck with this archaiac backwater system until we pay the car off or trade it in. Super....
