I didn't know there was a large international project of colorful umbrellas , but after seeing so many posts on IG I decided to go and see it for myself. I loved it! I don't know if it was the magic of the colors but it all seemed as if you were somewhere out of Miami. Even with the intense Miami summer weather, it was definitely worth seeing. There are many restaurants, you could enjoy a good meal as you enjoy the view ;) Many visitors took their fur babies with them, in case you would like to take yours for a stroll.

    Part of my beautiful family.

Awww we finally went to this beautiful Umbrella project I the City of Coral Gables here in my Miami! Such a nice idea and it brings instant smiles and happiness as you walk in here. There's plenty of restaurants on both sides and since we went on a Saturday night, they had music and we all enjoyed this nice ambiance. I will try to go again before they take them off on September 17th, 2018.

Located In the heart of Coral Gables this is the new hot spot in Miami. I'm pretty sure you've seen your social media invaded with pictures of the explosion of colorful umbrellas hanging in the sky. Taking a stroll over Giralda Plaza has never been so entertaining, this new pop up installation will be active for 2 months so make sure you get some free time to pass by and make great photos while enjoying the summer vibe, good food and some live entertainment if you get lucky. This idea was brought to Miami by Portugal based creative agency Sextafeira creating the Umbrella Sky Project to bring life and protection to public spaces, in many cities, and let me tell you this was a great idea indeed, it's been years since I haven't seen so much action on regular weekends on Coral Gables, aside from the annual "Art Festival " they normally hold. Great place to go spend some quality time with friends and family, make sure you don't miss it!

    Definitely check it out

I was finally able to visit the Umbrella Sky Project when I went to go do a free yoga session under the art installation. It was worth the trip! You are under many colorful umbrellas and can't help but take a few pictures. There's a photo-op background near the construction site wall as well. So glad to see that this art piece was installed in Miami. It will be down sometimes in September unfortunately. When I posted pictures of this on my social media, I had lots of friends asking where I was at and how cool it was. I highly recommend you visiting here before it's gone!!

    Guilty!

So stoked I got to see this umbrella sky project in soflo before it is gone. Along the cobblestone street of ponce de Leon are shops restaurants and bistros where you can Sit and enjoy the weather and watch everyone try to get the perfect pic. Lots to do in the surrounding area.

Really pretty art installation of umbrellas, great for photo opps. I've seen pictures of cities all around the world doing it, so it's so nice to have it so close. It also provides a lot of shade in a much needed sunny/hot area so it's perfect! If you're in the area you should definitely stop by to at least take a few pics.

Well, finally made it. I was finally peer pressured attending this collective Instagram photo shoot, before the day before it was taken down. I must admit I'm glad they made me come. It was really cool. We took a bunch of pictures and had a nice little walk down Giralda. There are plenty of restaurants and bars here. We sat down at Clutch Burger and had a few cold beers on a very hot day, while admiring the beautiful umbrella art Installation. It was easily the coolest thing to happen in Coral Gables in a long while. Sad to see it go, but they did sell off the umbrellas, so some people will be able to take this memory home with them to Cherish forever.

Afternoon at the Umbrella a Sky Project at Coral Gables was something different than usual afternoon in South Florida. Nice seeing many young couples, people on dates and whole families their taking pictures that will end up all over social media bringing attention to our beautiful South Florida area. Hats off to those who chose beautiful Coral Gables for this event.

Loved that they thought about doing this art installation in Miami . Wish they left it here forever . Super pretty . Also brings more business to those restaurants Around . So I am pretty sure they are super happy about this display as well .

Beautiful umbrellas that provide shade from the scorching Florida sun. If you'd like to drive down for the photo op, it's best to go during the week as the weekends this exhibition can get pretty packed with locals as well as tourist. Funny thing is these umbrellas don't protect much against the rain! Friends and I were soaked after a quick Florida shower!

I went to see this gorgeous art installation during this past summer and it really can't be missed. It provides Coral Gables such a unique and fun aspect along with great landscape photos for all! Wish they would leave it up year round!

I've been wanting to see something like this here in the USA and they brought it to Miami. Even better, Coral Gables! I always thought I'd have to go all the way to Portugal to see this, not anymore! Yes it draws a crowd and it can be overwhelming with all the people but it's still worth checking out. This is a moving installation and it's only in Miami for a very short time.

It was only right I came out to see what all the hype was about.. It was love at first sight, made such a great photo background!

The Carnaval is located in Miracle mile, close to several street parking and parking garages, like we used. I particularly love the location of this festival because its on a fabulous street filled with restaurants on each side of the street. Allowing for more options if you choose you not to eat street food. There are plenty of options like arepas, fresh squeezed juices, pinchos, sandwiches, turkey legs, funnel cakes, Gilbert's bakery, pizza, gelato, and more. We decided to eat lunch at Morton's to break up the day a little from walking, then we continued our day throughout the festival. I did a little shopping at Essence Boutique, which I love to come to when I'm in this area of Coral Gables. I also bought some dips and other trinkets from the festival. I look forward to this festival every year and am so glad I was able to make it this weekend.

I stopped by during lunchtime with hopes that they had a wide selection of eats and was not disappointed. There were a number of food vendors set up in the middle of the festival. I went with a barbacoa quesadilla from the taco truck which ended up being a little blah, but also tried a lamb gyro wrap that my husband got from a different vendor that was a little better. Besides food, there were plenty of other tents lining Alhambra featuring everything from local makers selling jewelry, apparel, and more, to artists of all kinds... I recognized a lot of the same folks from the Coconut Grove Arts Festival which happens the following weekend. I assume many artists take advantage of the fact they're close together and display in both. There were also a lot of kid and dog related activities and businesses onsite. While not huge, it was fun to walk around and also listen to live music. I would definitely swing by again the next time it pops up in the neighborhood.

Also, while the festival was in progress, they were setting up for a food and alcohol event with controlled access for later in the evening. The inconvenience of having to negotiate around barricades and tents being put up was off-putting. The only positives: The weather was perfect, and it's free (although you have to pay like always in the Gables for parking)

Many volunteers. Going in at will call was a breeze and the event had many booths, including a tasting room, as well as open butterfly fields and gardens. Spent two or three hours of the day there. Weather was crazy hot. Thank goodness for the vendors giving free samples, alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike. My preferred vendor was Susilicious. Never had heard of her and now I'm obsessed with her bread (surprisingly not the mango one, but then again, I tried one of her non-mango ones). Desperately want more mango fun and apparently there's another festival coming up soon in South Beach. Might have to hit that one up, too. If it's like this one was, I can expect lots of yummy treats.

They'll give you whatever they feel like, regardless of what you actually asked for. When I pointed this out, I was met with an attitude instead of an apology. The staff clearly couldn't care less about customer satisfaction. No seating available, so you're forced to stand and eat. And for some reason, the place was swarming with cops, which just made the whole experience feel even more unwelcoming. To top it all off, after paying an entrance fee and overpaying for food, they had the audacity to ask for a tip. Laughable. Prepare yourself to pay an entrance fee and get asked for a tip. We went on the last day of the festival. A Sunday. There weren't a lot of people, but then again, we hit this place up early. Admission per person for the event was $25.00. It gives you access to everything a chocoholic dreams of, as well as access to the exhibits at the museum itself. Hence, you definitely have options on things to do and that in itself is a marvelous thing. Unfortunately, chocolate is not. Marvelous, you know? I know that sounds blasphemous, but despite the limited amount of vendors (folks, this DOES NOT compare to the Mango Festival at all), you will end up overdosing on chocolate. They have a private room for the vendors. Makes total sense as this is Florida and it's hot, scorching hot, flamethrower hot, and we don't need an avalanche of chocolate all over the place. Room is cool, well organized, and filled with vendors. Mind you, there are vendors outside as well, but none of these vendors sell chocolate. Ended up gorging ourselves with Susilicious and Románicos that we bought, as well as sampling some new vendors: Exquisito with their DNA shirt comes to mind, plus Cao Chocolates that were featured at MDC. Case and point: go at least once. Plan food accordingly after. Unless you somehow possess the sweet tooth that I don't have, this isn't an all day event. I much prefer the Mango Festival.
