In preparation for a 70km bicycle ride I needed to get an energy boost and I stopped at this Ultramar to buy an energy bar / chocolate bar. The owner was walking out as I was walking in with my bike. Five minutes later, when I was at the counter selecting my bar, the owner came in from outside and told me to leave my bicycle outside. I told him that I didn't have a lock, it was a $4,500 bike and I was buying something. He said it doesn't matter and take it outside. I told him never mind, left the bar on the counter and proceeded to leave when he yelled at me "I do not have to serve you". I replied "You are correct, you do not".
I have never come across such a hostile business owner in such a long time, over something so trivial as having a bicycle in the store. Does he kick out wheelchairs and strollers for the same reason? I will never step foot into that place again, regardless of their gas prices. In fact, the Pioneer on Wallbridge-Loyalist road has the same prices...there is zero need to give this rude man any business. read more
