Today, 10 days after they never responded after I gave my address, while in the middle of a meeting, I hear a bang outside and my dog freaks out. I go outside to find two men with a ladder against the front of my house and climbing to the roof! I had no idea they were coming and they were fully on their way to climbing up my house without my permission! The problem wasn't even on the roof, so I have no idea what they would have done once they got up there. When I messaged the company to say I didn't appreciate them coming unannounced and unscheduled, I was told it was my fault for not specifying that I expected a call before they showed up! Wild. Do NOT send this company your address--even for an estimate--or else they may randomly show up to your house and climb up on your roof unannounced and they will go up there whether you are home or not. I have found Marcy the owner is to be straightforward and honest, and though she can be a bit brusque at times, as she is in the Philadelphia roofing business I can understand. Their pricing is reasonable for quality of work. No roofer is cheap and if you apparently find one, don't trust them. We have a complicated roofscape (skylights, large AC unit mounts and penetrations, and major crickets required to clear drainage obstructions) and some leaking problems that predate our ownership. Castelli, and particularly their foreman Jimmy, have been generous in attending to drainage problems that may or may not have been a result of their work. My contractor now has been calling constantly too for a call back. Would not use archer if I were redoing the house again. Worst customer service and beyond unprofessional.

Three other "professional" roofing groups evaluated and the suggestions ranged from tearing down the wall and rebuilding, using caulk along the roof line, and another was rerouting a gutter. All first said "oh yeah, it's just a gutter cleaning" until I showed them that gutters weren't clogged and working just fine. The caulk guy was the most convincing, so I gave it a try - no change whatsoever. I was frustrated and losing hope. Moving on, I looked through Yelp for other roofers. I found one - Doyle, that for some reason stood out. I sent them a message and quickly received back a professional reply, asking when they could come out to evaluate. After some quick texts we set up a date. Afterwards I thought I should get more than one quote, so I used the Yelp "call for help" that sends out the request to (it seems) everyone in the world. [I will never use the Yelp random call for help thing again. I was text and phone bombed for three weeks after that. Not an exaggeration. Calls came in from all over the country - Texas, New York, Florida, Tennessee and more. I kept blocking numbers until it stopped - what a miserable experience! Even when I posted a public complaint one company just accelerated the calls and texts.] This is the first area Doyle stood out - that one initial contact via text (my preference) and some back and forth setting up the appointment. All done quickly and without being harassed. The polite professionalism and quick response put me right at ease. The owner, Sean, came onsite (on time and with text updates) and brought Tom, who did the evaluation. Tom was great - he explained in great detail the potential causes for the leak could be and pointed to an area where two sides came together. He said that a problem there was the most likely cause. He went up and looked around asked if I wanted to come up and see firsthand. I did and was blown away. He pointed to an area that clearly was suspect. The others had talked about everything but this area as the issue. Sean and Tom explained how they operate and what to expect (in clear detail). I had a few other requests unrelated to the leak and it was a quick "no problem, we can do that" and gave me a very reasonable price/estimate for it all on the spot. We arranged a convenient date. Sean send a contract electronically and I was able to sign remotely. Tom and another co-worker came on the date and time agreed on (a Sunday) actually a bit earlier than expected and immediately set up. Everything we agreed to was done. Tom kept me updated as to progress. Sean forwarded pictures on of the work that was completed - especially nice since some of the areas are impossible to see without climbing up to steep areas of the roof. Before they left Tom and his co-worker cleaned up everything - there was no mess or follow up I needed to do. All done with no surprises, no extra charges, and no BS. It is now January 20, 2022 and the skylight remains unfinished- there is a hole in the internal ceiling that is wide open allowing cold air into my house. And the skylight installation was not sealed and is now leaking into my kitchen. I'm taking the time to write this because I'm hoping to save someone else the pain of working with this poorly managed group. Here are a few highlights from our engagement: - I reached out and requested completion of the internal skylight. A date was scheduled. Nobody showed up. When I followed up I was told that the construction team was at my house at 8AM that morning and they called after arriving. The problem- I was outside my house at 8AM and the Cerritos team was not there. And there was no call to my cell phone or captured in the call log. They simply lied about both. - I sent tens of messages to the Cerritos team and they rarely responded unless there was a threat of action. And the response was always an excuse. The excuses included: - The team was drunk - The team is hard to schedule - The team has covid and are fatally ill No date to complete the work was ever scheduled. Lastly, Ernesto is the face-to-face sales guy and project manager. He positions himself as a highly ethical person driven by his Christian values. His words 'I'm a good Christian man'. His actions and the actions of his team speak otherwise. I've been left with a hole in the roof and the urgent need to have the entire roof reviewed by a professional team to ensure its quality. Lastly, in addition to the cost of the extra work, I'm spending my time, dollars and effort to hold Ernesto and team accountable through legal action.
