Josh from Emmons came out while I was away and told my wife that he found the leak. He also said that our dimensional shingle roof was not installed properly 18 years ago when the house was built, which was why the roof was leaking, and that a new roof would cost $4K. Upon returning from my business trip, I called Josh and asked him to come back out, which he did. I asked him to explain how the roof wasn't initially installed correctly and he went on to say that because they didn't cut any of the shingles, the edges of the shingles were causing a channel every other row for water to flow. He continued, stating that Emmons starts the first row with a full shingle, the second with a 2/3 shingle and the third with a 1/3 shingle and repeat that pattern. If this is the case, then they'd be creating more channels for water to flow, but I digress. What a bunch of BS. Then Josh said it would cost $4K to replace only the front slope of the roof over the main structure - not the main structure's rear slope or both slopes over the garage. I asked why he would suggest replacing only a portion of the roof when it was not properly installed in the first place and also questioned what the aesthetics would look like. He (amazingly) agreed and said he would measure/remeasure all roofing surfaces and provide another price, which came to $16K. BTW, while on the roof he was stomping around like an elephant because I could easily hear him from the first floor. Was he trying to damage it? Ken Morton & Sons also came out while I was away. They inspected the attic but couldn't find a leak. What they did find was flexible ductwork that appeared to be leaking condensation, so they told my wife they quickly repositioned and adjusted it to stop the leak. However, I was not convinced that that was the cause after speaking with Josh at Emmons so I asked Ken to come out and inspect my roof from above. One of his guys came out, inspected the roof and said there was no indication of any leaking. Ken called me afterwards and said that he'd love to replace my roof but the ductwork was the cause of my ceiling stains - not the roof. Since then, which has been ~6 months, and after more than one gale force windy and rainy storms no additional stains have appeared in our ceiling. In summary, Josh from Emmons is the owner's daughter's boyfriend who looked and sounded like he never stepped foot on a roof before his future father-in-law give him the job. He just tried baffling me with his BS and, worse, he lied about finding a leak and tried to sell us, first, a partial roof replacement and then a full roof replacement - both of which we didn't need. Josh just wanted to make a sale. He obviously thinks he smarter than John Q. Public and has no interest in wanting to help people. Therefore, please consider Ken Morton & Sons if you have a roofing need.

It is now January 20, 2022 and the skylight remains unfinished- there is a hole in the internal ceiling that is wide open allowing cold air into my house. And the skylight installation was not sealed and is now leaking into my kitchen. I'm taking the time to write this because I'm hoping to save someone else the pain of working with this poorly managed group. Here are a few highlights from our engagement: - I reached out and requested completion of the internal skylight. A date was scheduled. Nobody showed up. When I followed up I was told that the construction team was at my house at 8AM that morning and they called after arriving. The problem- I was outside my house at 8AM and the Cerritos team was not there. And there was no call to my cell phone or captured in the call log. They simply lied about both. - I sent tens of messages to the Cerritos team and they rarely responded unless there was a threat of action. And the response was always an excuse. The excuses included: - The team was drunk - The team is hard to schedule - The team has covid and are fatally ill No date to complete the work was ever scheduled. Lastly, Ernesto is the face-to-face sales guy and project manager. He positions himself as a highly ethical person driven by his Christian values. His words 'I'm a good Christian man'. His actions and the actions of his team speak otherwise. I've been left with a hole in the roof and the urgent need to have the entire roof reviewed by a professional team to ensure its quality. Lastly, in addition to the cost of the extra work, I'm spending my time, dollars and effort to hold Ernesto and team accountable through legal action. I'll be suing them for the entire remediation cost and associated damage. I hope this has been helpful.

We had to re-do our roof quite a few years ago, and then had them come out several times for periodic recoating since then (and probably due for another). They are very responsive and communication is good. Costs seem to be in line with the market in general. We didn't have leaks beforehand and it doesn't leak now so all I can say about that is so far so good. We have recommended them to many of our neighbors and probably eight or 10 other houses nearby have used their services and everything I have heard has been very positive. I gave my address and never heard back, so I moved on to another company. Today, 10 days after they never responded after I gave my address, while in the middle of a meeting, I hear a bang outside and my dog freaks out. I go outside to find two men with a ladder against the front of my house and climbing to the roof! I had no idea they were coming and they were fully on their way to climbing up my house without my permission! The problem wasn't even on the roof, so I have no idea what they would have done once they got up there. When I messaged the company to say I didn't appreciate them coming unannounced and unscheduled, I was told it was my fault for not specifying that I expected a call before they showed up! Wild. Do NOT send this company your address--even for an estimate--or else they may randomly show up to your house and climb up on your roof unannounced and they will go up there whether you are home or not. Then if it bothers you they will blame YOU!
