Hello, Dr. Larka is my 92 year old father's favorite doctor! She is caring, patient and thorough with his foot care. Her staff is equally as caring, competent and efficient. My dad's experience was positive and easy which at his age is very important. We were promptly seen, access to the office was easy for him, and Dr. Larka treated him with dignity and respect. He was so proud of his feet afterward! I highly recommend Dr. Larka for her professionalism, competent care and her ability to connect with her patients. I have been a patient of Dr. Larka for at least 15 years. I met her at Podiatry Associates at Willowbrook Hospital and then lost contact when she left that practice. I had an open wound on my foot, for two years, I walked around in a boot, going to Podiatry Associates who did the same thing every week and my wound wasn't healing.. I was searching for a wound care doctor and found St. Joseph's wound care downtown so I made an appointment. I'm waiting for the doctor to come in and you'll never guess who walked in....YES DR. LARKA!!! I had not seen her in two years. She looked at my foot, very maticulously like she always does, hooked me up and in two weeks that wound closed! She did in two weeks what the others couldn't in two years!!!!‍‍‍‍ Dr. Larka is an Amazing doctor!!! She really cares about her patients and did I say "SHE'S BRILLIANT", extremely intelligent woman. She can appear to be a little querky but shes not just brilliant brains, compassion and care for her work and helping people heal! I won't let anybody else amputate and I've had many done by her!! I have been a patient of dr Larka who performed bunion and hammer toe surgery on my left foot 5 years ago. She got me back to my normal painless life, I was able to walk again, something I enjoyed very much. Fortunately I am back in Texas and I am checking my feet again with her. Dr Larka did surgery on my foot. It's been a nightmare with getting a foot infection after surgery. I did drop her after I got out of the hospital with an 11 day stay. Now I'm all healed I'm unhappy with the results of the surgery. My tendon is very tight causing my toes to bend downward along with my plantar being tight and my ankle pain also. I've done foot exercises till I was blue in the face. My new podiatrist says it will be like that for life. She also didn't even remove the heel spur that was my main complaint to begin with. I guess she just wanted to do surgery to make money forgot about me.... read more

I was really disappointed in the visit. I went based on reviews and I feel like we should have done more research. 1. I had a two o'clock appt and was told to get there earlier to get some paperwork done since it was my first appointment. I arrived at 1:45 and no one opened the office till 2. So I didn't actually get to see a doctor until 2:30... 2. I felt like they were just so busy trying to bill... I had told them that I had paid for 5 days ago which I didn't have anymore but I I think it was time to get new Orthotics since mine are over 3 years old. She told me I needed to get a shot in my heel which I have never gotten before. I don't even know what the shot was I don't know why I needed it since I didn't have pain at that time. And I wasn't made aware of the fact that I would not be able to put weight on that foot for almost 48 hours. 3. They gave me Orthotics without even telling me what the price was until I went to check out. I'm not sure why I would buy Orthotics from their office when I have custom orthotics that are covered with in my insurance. 4. I feel like they were just overbooked and I wasn't priority didn't even get a chance to understand what treatment she was giving. I don't think I saw the doctor for more than 10 minutes. 5. When I went in I had made the appointment for two problems plantar fasciitis and an ingrown toenail in one foot. They didn't have time to discuss the ingrown toenail. When I mentioned that that was another reason I had come in they said it was something that they would have to cover on the next visit since they didn't want to overburden me with information... in case I forgot. 6. When the doctor left the appointment I didn't even realize she was not going to come back into the room. 7. The nurse was nice and friendly I just feel like they were so busy trying to turn out patient and sell and bill higher... the treatment I received was completely incorrect. 8. Unfortunately I end up having a reaction to the shot since I have never had it before wasn't able to move for 48 hours and because of that my husband had to cancel his work trip and flight... last minute. Just so he could take care of the children since I was unable. All this because I just needed a new Orthotics made mine were over three years old! This was just not a good fit for me. read more

She is an excellent doctor! Dr. Larka treated my elderly mother several months for severe edema and wounds. She coordinated with a team of doctors to evaluate her veins, heart, diabetes, kidney's, RA, and identified an excellent primary care doctor for her since we just move to Houston. She left no stone un-turned until my mother's condition was diagnosed as Lymphedemia. As a result, my mother's condition is now under control through the use of a machine which Dr Larka worked tirelessly with her colleagues to make possible. She cares for her patients and treats them with the utmost dignity and respect. She takes the time to explain everything and provides recommendations and options. We are blessed to have Dr. Larka as one of her Doctors. I highly recommend her!!!! read more

It's an older clinic. Been here 4 times. Often it seems a bit unstructured when you check in and what you have to pay and so on. Front desk staff is not informative, but friendly enough as such. Wait times have been between 5 to 15-35 mins even with a confirmed appointment. I come here for regular treatment of a problem that I have had for +12 years. Dr Larka is my physician, she is professional enough and get the job done, I have visited probably 5-6 others podiatrist here and overseas in my life and she is however the only one making me feel like I have life threatening issue basically. I kept coming because it's 1,5 mi from my home and other podiatrists are much further away, but today was the last time. read more

One of the best docs I've seen in a long time! Dr. Larka's staff was professional and courteous, not to mention caring. In my experience doctors' office staff can be short, cold and somewhat uppity. Absolutely not the case with Dr. Larka's staff from the phone call the day prior to how I was treated once in the office. Dr. Larka is down-to-earth, caring, and not in the least bit self-important, as many doctors can be. She understands her profession and obviously is in love with what she does, which makes her the kind of doctor to trust and feel confident. I had suffered for 3 months with foot pain that, after a previous x-ray, was told it was nothing. Dr. Larka x-rayed and said it was broken and dislocated and the initial x-ray should have shown the injuries. She cared about my complaints, listened with interest, and made me feel totally confident in her findings. I only wish there were more than 5 stars to give her. Her office is in an older house that has been converted, so if you care about a new building or contemporary décor, you won't find it here. But you WILL find an amazing doctor and staff! read more

The doctor is in, switched on and knows what the heck she's talking about! The thoroughness of my exam is what I appreciated most and even the nurses were on top of it. Everyone was readily available to answer my questions and I was talked to straight - no BS, no ancillary stuff I didn't need. I was diagnosed quickly and the remedy was already in effect by the time I walked out. I sprained my ankle and tore a ligament in the process, none of which I would have found out by just going to the local Urgent Care center who simply told me it was a basic sprain and sent me on my way. Dr. Larka is really connected to what's happening and will be honest with you (though not in a rude way at all) even when you might not want to hear it! I visited Dr. Ulla Britt Larka's office in the first half of 2017 to diagnose the source of recurring pain in one of my feet. Before visiting I called the office to provide insurance information and receive a quotation for my visit, which would include X-rays and a consultation. Check in went smoothly. The assistant showed me to an examination room, and took an X-ray of each foot. The assistant and doctor were pretty excited about outfitting me with new orthotic shoes and quickly assembled inserts, and it felt like a sales pitch at times - which I wasn't expecting. Although I noticed afterwards that some Yelp reviews also picked up on this. The doctor examined my feet and X-rays and provided a diagnosis. I paid the balance due in full (more than $100) as I left the facility, having a high-deductible health plan. I asked if this settled the bill. I was told, "Yes". Then, to my surprise a bill arrived several weeks later requesting additional payment. I called the doctor's office, and they said they would not honor the previously agreed-to amount, indicating that my insurance had actually agreed to a higher amount. Overall, my expectations for reasonable customer service were not met, and the strong sell for orthotic shoes felt a bit too much like being at a shoe-store. An accurate diagnosis was provided, however, which assisted with resolving persistent discomfort (+2 stars). read more

Dr. Larka and her staff are the best! With the population that I work in, she and her staff have always taken the best care of our clients. Very honest and will do what is needed to take care of our needs. I would not trust anyone else to deliver the care that she does. She exhaust all other routes over a lot of cut happy doctors in this field. If I ever needed any foot care for myself, she is who I would call! read more

If you want to be bothered by spurious bills every few months or so see Larka, otherwise avoid like the plague.

I've been for three visits to Dr. Larka and my personal experience is that although she is okay, her staff, specifically billing, is not good at all. My two examples are: 1. Wanted to purchase a pair of sandals that Dr. Larka's assistant had me try, but then they did not have my size, so she suggested a different pair. I tried them on at home and they were a horrible fit. When I brought them back, I was told that they could neither refund nor provide me with a different pair. So, I gave these $100+ sandals away. 2. I had orthotics made and when inquired about the price, was told that they were $250 a pair. I thought great! So I bought a pair for work and a pair for running. Neither fit terribly well, but I thought it wasn't worth trying to argue about it. I paid $500 (2 times $250...or $250 per pair) and was not given a detailed receipt. Next thing I know, I am getting a bill from Dr. Larka's billing company saying that I owe $225 more. Apparently, when they say "pair" they do not mean a left and right, but EITHER a left or right orthotic! Unbelievable. I tried resolving this for 6 weeks and couldn't get anyone to return my calls. When Dr. Larka's office did call me back it was close to 6 weeks later and I was done with it. Poor customer service trumps a so so podiatrist. Not returning. read more

She is a crook. The assistant said she'll do a quick swab of the mouth so in the event the doctor prescribes medicine she will know how your body reacts to it...$4,000 later. Don't go to her. Now my head hurts worse than my foot. read more

This doctor is more of a shoe salesman than a doctor. The minute you walk into the examination room, the nursing staff tries to convince you to wear orthopedic shoes. This is before any diagnosis of your problem is made. They just happen to have an entire selection ready and waiting for you to spend a fortune on. I don't believe Dr.Larka had her mind on diagnosing my problem....she is simply an orthopedic shoe zealot! Huge waste of time and money. Will never go back. read more

Dr. Larka and her staff were fantastic when I broke my foot. It happened on a Saturday night and they got me in first thing Monday morning. Dr. Larka was very thorough and honest in assessing what she saw as the best treatment plan for my situation. I got great advice, guidance and care from the whole team over my eight-plus week recovery. I definitely recommend them. read more
