Ulceby is situated north west of Grimsby just off the A180, has a population of about 1,500.
Mentioned in the Doomsday Book, there are many many historical artefacts including the remains of a medieval moat in a meadow at the west end of the village: the site of the original settlement.
Parts of St Nicholas' Church date back to the 13th Century though later additions have been made.
Visitors will also find a number of old houses including a delightful thatched cottage.
Shops are not plentiful in the village - there is only one convenience store -The Brocklesby Ox The Ox was a wartime RAF pub and was full of photographic memorabilia .The historic pub - currently boarded up - is available for sale freehold, with land, the guide price being £275,000.Cheap huh? I hope the RAF stuff is still theregreat history record.
The Fox public house provides food and drink.
A summer event is held every year in Ulceby and dances and youth clubs take place in the village hall. read more
