after having a lot of traditional german food, i was in the mood for something light and asian and was very pleased to walk by UF poke bar. there are a few options to choose from, or the option to make your own as both small or large. i decided to make my own, and built a very big lunch portion with greens based, fresh salmon, sesame seeds, seaweed salad, kimchi, carrots, scallions, pickled purple cabbage, ginger, and tobiko. i chose not to have any of the dressings but topped it with soy sauce and sriracha at my seat. everything was very fresh and flavorful, and good thing i was starving as it was a very big portion and i was barely able to finish it - i cannot imagine how much the large bowl would have been, or to have had rice, quinoa, or noodles instead of greens base.
overall the food and flavor was very fresh, but it was expensive especially for lunch. i was surprised that it was 1E to add additional toppings, especially ones such as cucumber, ginger, or carrots. i would have also liked to add edamame but this would have made it too expensive and it was already around 14E by the time i added a few.
i was in the mood for a drink and chose the only option of IPA craft beer. while this was nice, it didn't really pair well with the poke style and would have liked to see some light white wines or even a lighter beer option to pair better. read more
