This place is fantastic for cheese lovers! Lovely free tastings and a massive selection of cheeses and accompaniments. Lovely cafe also located here for coffee etc.. The staff were lovely and happy to assist.

Cheese, cheese, cheese! If I could live on one thing for the rest or my life I would choose cheese. As long as I could taste the many varieties with crusty bread and paste. In fact, the Ploughman's platter served at Udder Delights would be a fine specimen to base this upon. Oh what a delight! Warm crusty baguettes, luscious shaved ham, salami, cheddar, brie and pickled onions all served to you in a basket of love. You also have the option to add on more if you are feeling hungry. We are always hungry, so decided to add on blue cheese and pate. There is nothing to complain about a lunch like this. It is purely comfort food. And the cheese at Udder Delights is made with skill and care. I notice that the varieties are very easy on the palate. They produce cheese that really suits all lovers out there. Nothing too strong; nothing to adventurous. Keeping it simple is what they do. I recommend trying their double brie, a very creamy version. A great tribute! As for the restaurant, it is comfortable. Nice window space to admire your surroundings outside. You are also able to eat on the deck with our puppy dog. Udder Delights with worth the trip to Hahndorf for the weekend.

Hahndorf eh?... I hear the groans... Yes, it's touristy as anything in Adelaide, but this little town still has some great businesses. As you pull in off the freeway to the main drag of Mt Barker road, watch for the carpark on the left just before Udder Delights, Somerled and Scott and Laprova cellar doors. You could spend a nice romantic afternoon in these few hundred square meters. Start with a cheese platter at Udder Delights. Pick 3 cheeses from their menu and grab a drink. They have local beer, wine and cider on offer. If it's a hot day, head down into the cellar and enjoy the cool temperature. If it's temperate, grab a table in the sun. Eat slowly and soak in the place. Ignore the occasional truck that drives past and groups of tourists. Then onto Somerled and Scott and Laprova for some wine tasting. Take some wine home; don't forget to pop back into Udder Delights for some takeaway cheese too.

Ever thought of covering yourself in cheese? Ya, neither have I, cos it would be crazy hot.......yup. Udder Delights is cheezy heaven! So many fuzzy feeling inspiring cow, sheep and goats milk creations makes me weep curdled tears that I am not in their presence right now! For those either uneducated in the wonders of cheesiness, or if you just like to 'talk cheddar' the staff are incredibly knowledgable and will open your eyes to some locally sourced awesomeness that you may not have considered. The other MAJOR positive is the location...yes it is a 20 odd minute drive from Adelaide, but it is onlt a 20 second walk from random metwust options that go swimmingly with any cheese....WINNER!

The best cheese in South Australia- hands down! I could live off this cheese for the rest of my life. I sampled some of their stuff at the Adelaide Cheesefest and ended up eating several blocks. I have to say their standouts are their Udder Delights Heysen Blue Cheese and their goat curd. The blue cheese tastes like blue cheese, but it isn't too strong at all. I managed to turn someone who hates any type of blue cheese into a lover with this one. It is extremely easy to demolish the whole wedge- trust me. The goat curd is like a dip crossed with goat cheese, so heaven in a bowl. I love goat cheese and this is a mild version of this, perfect with crackers or part of a antipasto platter. It is also a brilliant alternative to cheese. The shop also stocks a range of cheeses made by other brands, some international. One of the best cheeses I have ever consumed is their Chevre D'Affinois. It is a goat cheese, but different. The easiest way to explain it would be a cross between a goat cheese and a brie. It tastes like goat cheese but it has the same texture as a brie- a slightly chewy exterior layer with a melty inside. Just perfect. Udder Delights also makes the best cheese crackers. Mum and I drive up to their shop often just so we can get their crackers. I don't know what is so good about them, you just have to try them. They also sell a range of marinated vegetables and delicious dips, that go well with the cheeses. The shop also has an accompanying café, which serves a range of sweets, all day breakfast and other savoury dishes.

    Cheese Selection

A must when in Hahndorf. Nothing beats a cheese platter with white wine. The people at the shop helped us in selecting the cheese and the service was great too. They have a big range of cheese and other dips and even raw meats. I think it is worth the visit when in Hahndorf, Adelaide.

As a cheese-a-holic in South Australia their goods would be fortuitously hard to avoid! The magical dairy epicentre of happy, dancing cows is south of Adelaide on the way to Victor Harbour. As you pull into the driveway you are greeted by a stylised metallic cow sculpture, the mascot of the cheese factory. My favourite thing to do is sample all their lovely cheeses before I decide which ones are coming home with me. My favourites include the spiced gouda (with caraway seeds in it), the cheese curd (deliciously salty and reminds me of nursery rhymes and the Canadian dish of poutine) and the haloumi, YUM! There is some seating inside and out for devonshire teas and enjoying the serenity. A milkshake and slice of cheesecake deal seems to provide an excellent fix for dairy junkies at just $7. The double cream used on scomes is so thick, it's like trying to spread butter out of the fridge, but my goodness it is tasty and the afore mentioned milkshakes are great with malt and come served in those great retro silver milkshake cups - great novelty! The atmosphere can be a little cold, but it is a tea shop attached to a cheese factory after all, so sit infront of the big window that lets you watch the magic on the factory floor as it happens. Also note the locals who come by to pick up their daily milk! Ahh, rural joy.

It is definitely one of the stops when I am showing people through the Adelaide Hills. Make sure you schedule a stop here if you are going on a wine tour. What I love about the cheese here is that they all taste quite unique. Why? Well a lot of them are made from goat and buffalo milk. There are some cow varieties, but Woodside really do love producing something different. They also like producing seasonal varieties. Be sure to ask what the current seasonal cheese is. They generally are rolled in different seasonings and herbs. Some are chevre. So creamy and light. I have three faves here. The ashed goats chevre, saltbush goat chevre, and triple cream brie. Some of their blues are lovely, but need to be eaten fast and fresh as they develop quickly into very strong flavours. But, if you like that sort of thing, leave it for a few days. The set up here is really welcoming and relaxing. There is a whole range of accompaniments available for you to buy that match with cheese or just general cooking. You can also purchase cheese knives and boards here (some signature ones as well). For groups you can also call ahead and ask for a cheese tasting or book a table in the back room.
