She thought she was getting out last evening, and then they promised her today she would go home. Now they told her insurance has not approved her home health care, and she won't be going anywhere - Monday at the soonest because insurance company won't be able to approve it until next week. This poor 41 year old has stage 4 cancer and two small children at home she hasn't seen in over a week. I've called to talk to medical director, the CEO, her doctors and left messages. No call back at all! This place has done more harm than good for all of us.

At one point I asked about a B-12 test, because my last GP had tested for it as a routine. I was berated for asking for it and was questioned in an accusatory tone why I needed it and what was I not telling her. When I said well, I don't really know and that my GP had always tested for it, she reluctantly agreed. (Since then I understand that Vitamin absorption is a concern with my specific thyroid issues.) From here she continued to display an arrogant attitude that I just completely just wanted to get the visit over with. It was hands down, the worst Dr. visit I've had in my life. (53 years) I left with the intention of never going back. Since then I've sought out a Functional medicine NP, which I am paying out of pocket for, because I just don't think most physicians, (including my Gyno), have the time to truly ask the thoughtful questions, prescribe enough tests and do a good follow-up. I like my gyno NP, she is nice and professional (who is also with Buffalo Medical group) she just seems to be on a short time schedule.

Someone suggested this particular hospital so we drove from Canada into the Buffalo New York area. At first looking at the reviews we were hesitant however we decided to proceed forward. The staff as you enter the hospital was very friendly. They came out to the car and helped us get grandma out of the backseat of the SUV. The Hospital was not busy so our wait times were low, they moved her into the back and got her all checked in. We immediately went to x-ray and again the staff was absolutely wonderful. The nice young man who used to be a paramedic was very kind and helped with the anxiety and fear that grandma head. At the end of the day thankfully grandma's hip was not fractured, we were given a copy of our x-rays and we will head back to Southern California and follow up with her primary doctor. When you read all the negative reviews please make sure to take a look at what they are really complaining about. Most people are complaining about the time delay while waiting to get checked in. That is how it is at most ER's and I don't think it's fair that you write a negative review about how long the wait time is , it really comes down to how many people are sick and injured. We were very lucky and there was no one ahead of us so we were in and out in less than 2 1/2 hours. If you go to the ER and there are several people in front of you you're gonna have to wait and that is not the fault of the hospital.

I have to agree with the reviews about "care" for loved ones who are experiencing mental illness…read more After taking my adolescent child to the Psychiatric CPEP, I was first told by the social worker that my child was feeling anxious about the 1st day of school and repeatedly talked over me. He discounted a long history of chid's severe depression and anxiety, as well as a history of chronic pain and illness. He also dismissed statements that child feared hurting themselfand others. Thank God I travel with medical paperwork to substantiate the several medical and psychological issues and I was finally told they would "hold on to" my child. Where the keep the kids should be illegal, but I do understand that they have to maintain safethy. But they could do more as the environment was scary and the adults were indifferent. My child was evaluated by a psychiatrist during the night and I was called and asked if I was comfortable taking child home. I was also told they do not prescribe medication in CPEP and I was directed to follow up with Children's Psych Center, (although they don't take our insurance) or another provider for outpatient therapy. I was not comfortable and said so. Child was evaluated again by another psychiatrist and after discussion, it was agreed to have child moved up to the Adolescent Behavioral Unit. My husband and I met with child's counselor and was told that he agreed child was not safe to go home, child needed to be medicated, (which would take 4-6 weeks to start taking effect), and child would be evaluated weekly to determine safety. I was also told counselor would work with child on skills to address some identified concerns. As parents, we felt relieved that child would begin a treatment in a safe environment and would be released when child became more stable. That afternoon I was called by a doctor in the unit. I was told that what the counselor had said was incorrect and should not have shared that information with us. I was also told we don't keep kids for that length of time (which we didn't know at the time) and that "we don't do that here" when I asked why she wasn't getting a supplement required to help manage a suymptom child's health condition (even though the pharm said it wouldn't be a problem). The doctor who spoke to me was very dismissive rude and again like the s.w. in CPEP, repeateldy spoke over me. As time went on, child continued to express highly concerning statements, so I was very suprised to have the social worker contact me and say that the dr. wanted to discharge child the next day. I explained my concerns and fears (child was only on a few days of meds and was expressing terrifying statements) and the s.w. said she would speak to the dr. I was called the next day to say that he was still planning to discharge her. After I stated that child was not safe to come home, s.w. talked to the dr. and he called me shortly after. He didn't care about my concerns and again talked over me and I had to ask to have my turn to talk. I was told that my child had a specific mental illness without an evaluation, a condition that other providers - including in the CPEP - disagreed with. I said again child couldn't come home as we couldn't keep child safe. Dr. said he would list child "as no where to go." At this point child was engaging in self-harm with a safety pencil in the unit and gave child several wounds. Nursing staff was unconcered. Now, I am just a parent. I have never had anything to do with the field of mental health. I was terrified to bring child home and was encouraged by other medical providers not to bring child home as we couldn't ensure child's safety. I asked for some other step down or longer term program to have child stabilized before release. There was no empathy at all. My child was getting worse and worse in the unit, so after calling anyone and everyone for help - and believe me there is no help available to help prevent a crisis - the only thing I could do was take child home. Again, I am not familiar with this world and I can admit when I'm wrong, child is doing better at home, but continues to be very unsafe and I have had to take a leave from my job to watch child. The referral I was given was to a counseling service whose office worker gave me another patient pyschiatric evaluation with my child's intial paperwork, but that's another story. We will not follow up with this counseling due to Hippa violations. Finally, child's prescribtion was not being filled by the phramacy and was under "review" for 2 days. I called phramacy and was told the script was sent by a provider who's license had expired (???). My child went for 2 days without medication . I know this review is long, but I believe you need to understand the lack of care, empathy, and understanding for families that are experiencing the worst moments of their lives. I hope we never have to go through this experience again, but if we do, we will avoid this hospital at all costs.

He was assigned Dr. Antonia Redhead, a member of this group. I also have the PoA to deal/transact business for him as well as being the "go to" person on all of the necessary "HIPA" docs. I've never met Dr. Redhead and there had never been a reason to. Until two weeks ago. My family member suffers from a number of mental health issues which came on recently. OCD being the primary diagnosis. This is going into strange territory however I must express my displeasure with the treatment, or lack thereof, by Dr. Redhead. I pay all of the bills associated with treatment and I had noticed the the 'scripts increased from six per day to 18. The vast majority written by Dr. Redhead. I also noticed a decrease in the cognitive abilities of my brother in law, aforementioned family member. I also know that treating mental illness is pretty much a crap shoot. " Throw stuff against the wall and see what sticks" kind of treatment. Whatever. Ten days ago my brother in law started suffering from a distended stomach and constipation. He is not allowed to use any OTC meds so he contacted Dr. Redhead and also started bending my ear about his bathroom habits. Again, whatever. Here is what Dr. Redhead did. Nada. Zip. Nothing. Supposedly called in a 'script for Colace. Never gave any instructions concerning the dispensing of this treatment. The colace sits. And waits. As does my brother in law. After listening to my incoherent b.i.l for days I took it upon myself to attempt to "reach out" to this less than stellar so called medical professional. Would not speak to me. Follow up calls are met with a resounding "hang up". B.i.l went to the office and was told to leave. She would not see him. He recently received notification that he had been switched to another doctor in the group. One that no one at ECMC knows about. Bottom line. I filed a complaint against Dr. Redhead. New York State Department of Health, Office of Professional Medical Conduct. What a freaking joke that people like this sub human are allowed to practice medicine.
