It took me a long time to start my driving lessons... mostly because of an odd and irrational fear…read moreof driving instructors. But I did end up booking my first (and subsequent) lessons with Knights and I definitely chose the right company. Upon me telling him that I was extremely nervous, Peter (the owner/instructor) immediately made me feel at ease and was both professional and friendly throughout my lessons. Something a bit different with this driving school was that Peter makes videos showing different manoeuvres that you will be learning. Before each part of the lesson he would show the video of what you were about to learn. You could also purchase a copy of the DVD for $20 and use it at home to practice between lessons. Peter would tell you what you would be learning in the next lesson and you could watch those sections beforehand. In some cases I was able to watch the video and then immediately pass that section of my log book at my next lesson (noting that this was without any driving in between lessons because of my nervous parents!). I found this so helpful and it saved me a lot of money on lessons. Peter was also very accommodating and went out of his way to make sure I felt comfortable and relaxed. On my final (assessed) drive, I was so nervous that I accidentally went over the speed limit in the first five minutes. Many instructors would fail you and make you book another final drive (and pay again) but Peter got me to pull over the car, take some breaths and calm down and then he let me restart the assessment. The second try I passed with 99%. To me this was absolutely going above and beyond and I appreciated it so much. I'm now a confident and safe driver and I definitely attribute that to Knights.

I attended Mitcham Girls High School more years ago than I care to admit. At present Mitcham is the…read moreonly public all girls school in South Australia which is the main point of difference worth noting. This means the yearly fee for all students is $555, instead of the thousands you would be obliged to pay to attend any other all girls school in the state. I found the curriculum followed and level of support generally to be of a high standard. These factors, were of course, as I am sure they are in all schools dependant on the teachers taking the classes. Some clearly appealed to my style of learning more than others. The school day runs from 8:40 am to 3:15 pm. I found the sporting and extra-curricular areas especially rewarding. There are also several opportunities provided by the school to do a small amount of travel, on organised camps and excursions. The facilities were generally very good with a large gymnasium, large open greenspace, shaded quadrangle and even a swimming pool on the campus. There is a small tuck shop and all but final year students are not allowed to go off campus during the school day.

The school encourages students to achieve personal excellence, respect and global citizenship. These values have help other students and myself to become the best we can be. The teachers are very supportive and are always willing to help us, even outside of lesson times. They know the best ways to teach us, and they help us learn to become strong, independent, intelligent young women. I feel quite comfortable and safe when I am with my teachers. An all-girls environment does not work for all people, but it did for me. I feel confident with myself and transitioning into uni and Tafe in a couple of years. I feel the school has excelled in what it needs to do for youth education and more life skills.

Children have to…read moreput scraps from recess back into their lunch box which can spoil other foods (Make sure you don't pack them a yoghurt) It also means the office will Never reprint you any permission slips. This school also prides itself on diversity. Yet the majority of the staff including The Principal , Vice Principal , all the office and the vast majority of teaching staff are women. They do have a male music and a male PE teacher. I pulled my child out of this school last year when I was told that it's the parents job to teach the times tables. Since putting my child into an independent school It's clear she's lacking basic educational skills. It's these basics that are being neglected in favour of promoting social agendas. While some social agendas may be important, this school does not have the balance right. To clarify my child was in mainstream not the Steiner program they run. On the plus side the school does have beautiful grounds and the children that attend are good natured and well mannered.
