It's a train station that happens to be close to where I live :-) Lots of exits and access to bus services very close by. If you have never been don't worry, it won't make any difference to your life ;-)) read more

It's fine, it's a train station. However, for a major station in a major city, it's pretty…read moredisappointing in terms of things like availability of food or bars or cafes. Normally you would expect a station like this to have multiple options but really this one only has a couple of kiosk style places. It's not nothing, but more limited than I would expect. However, the signage is very good and getting to your train doesn't seem to be an issue. The platforms are high so there is no huge step up to your train. As a terminal station for most trains it's also a great place to depart from as you typically get extra time to board.
I USED THIS CENTRAL STATION A FEW TIMES DURING MY STAY IN MUNICH…read more=============================== My husband and I took one of the regional ICE (white and red) trains from Munich to Stuttgart on Monday, April 20th, because I had tickets for the Porsche Factory tour. Everything worked out pretty well, but you will need the PIN for any credit cards you use in the machines to buy tickets. We didn't have that. We then had to find out where the information office was and purchase tickets at the counter. You could also buy your tickets in advance on one of the aps, but I couldn't get the DB ap to work at all when in Munich even with a full cellular plan. Trainline seemed to work a lot better. My main point is that you probably shouldn't wait until the last minute if you need to be in another city at a set time. Also, carry lots of Euro coins while in Germany. You have to pay 1 1/2 Euros at this station to use the restroom.

I'm sittin' in the railway station, got a ticket for my destination...

The south on Schellingstraße and the north on Ludwigstraße/Akademiestraße. The station is between Odeonsplatz (toward Fürstenried West or Klinikum Großhadern) and Giselastraße (toward Moosach or Garching-Forschungszentrum). The station has island platforms. Two S-Bahn tracks here and two U-Bahn tracks, so it's a busy transfer point and of course the Marienplatz at the surface is a busy destination. Easy navigation with escalators, stairs and elevator between the different platform levels, the ticketing concourse and the surface. And of course, lots of entrances/exits to street level which are labeled and there's signage to help you know which is the right exit closest to the strasse you're needing. Several quick grab-and-go restaurants on the ticketing concourse. The station is served by the S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, S7 and S8 S-Bahn lines plus the U3 and U6 underground lines. There is a ton of shopping here with an Aldi and a local store, a bunch of bakeries and eateries as well as a pharmacy where we got our pre-flight COVID test for return to USA. Central to almost everything and can take you to the main train station in Munich and back to the airport for departure for a reasonable fee.

The location is great...you're five minutes from Marienplatz and it was so easy to get anywhere from here. Additionally, if you're staying at the Hilton (or the Holiday Inn) you can go straight from the train to the hotel without even going outside. Just make sure you exit toward the front of the train if you're coming from the airport. The station was pretty clean and they had chocolate covered peanuts in the vending machine on the platform for only one Euro. Believe me, if you've been drinking somewhere, those are a welcome snack on your way back to your hotel room. At one of the exits, near where you can pick up the tram, the escalator was not working so that knocks it down a star. But I thought this was a great base camp for my Munich adventures.
