The Gern station serves the U1 and U7 lines of Munich's U-Bahn network. It is close to the Huburtus…read morefountain but is not really walking distance to the Nymphenburg Palace (I had a Lime scooter). On U1, it is between Westfriedhof (toward Olympia-Einkaufszentrum and Rotkreuzplatz (toward Mangfallplatz). On the U7, the same stations but the terminus beyond Rotkreuzplatz is Neuperlach Zentrum. Opened in time for the Summer Olympics that year, it services the U3 line between Oberwiesenfeld (toward Moosach) and Petuelring (toward Fürstenried West) and the U8 line which it terminates and is next to Petuelring (toward Sendlinger Tor). The station has two island platforms, which means that the doors open on the left. There is a bus station at surface level. This station is also closest to the BMW Museum, which is why I was here.
