Tyler is the best trainer I've ever worked with (and there have been many) -- he is so knowledgeable in every facet of training and has the best temperament for the work. He knows how to keep you motivated and supported. His classes have made me exponentially stronger and I recommend his gym to EVERYONE I can. This is a real find! I knew I needed to get stronger, but I hadn't a clue on how I would go about doing that in a way that would be sustainable and effective. Right from the beginning, I felt comfortable and encouraged - not just from Tyler, but also from the other folks in the class. I'm doing the small group sessions - which is basically like having a personal trainer. Tyler somehow manages to keep everyone's ailments / goals in mind and each person is working with different weights or modified versions of the exercise - so it's very personal. He also is really good about warming up, creating exercises that build into a larger version and making sure you are doing them all with the correct alignment. The classes are very mixed in terms of goals, abilities and ages. I'll be honest, I'm glad when each session is over (!) but I can also see that my balance is getting better and I'm proud of myself for doing it. Highly recommended!! read more

He provided an assessment for me testing each of my different skillsets, while still also creating great conversation. Tyler did a great initial assessment and created a plan. I've mixed 1 on 1 sessions with group classes, and both have been great. I've been taking classes here since last fall and I'm starting to feel stronger! Tyler is a great teacher, and the vibe of the gym is very welcoming. I knew I couldn't do a traditional big gym with gym bro culture, so this has been such a find. We do small classes with lots of variety of strength building exercises with a general rotation between upper body/lower body week to week. I had a pretty hard time starting out, but the exercises can be adjusted and people come in with different levels of fitness. Hoping I can keep it a habit and continue to get stronger! read more

These are small group classes that aren't Intimidating and a friendly community of people that made an otherwise non-gym goer (me) comfortable working on building strength. I started at Tyler's Gym about two months ago after bouncing around several different gyms in the area to get back into lifting regularly before my wedding in the fall. In LA, big box gyms mean endless wait times for racks or weights, and I've never been a fan of the wear and tear on your body that comes with standard CrossFit-type spots. At Tyler's, the class format lands somewhere between a small group personal training session and a larger CrossFit class, which is perfect for me. I've been a member at Tyler's Gym since October 2023. I originally started going to keep my lower back in shape. I had had issues with extreme lower back pain, that had improved with physical therapy in December 2022, but I was having trouble staying motivated in doing my at-home exercises. I need someone to make me do the exercises. Enter Tyler's Gym! This is my first time doing any sort of strength training on a regular basis. It has been a HUGE help to my back, but also my overall fitness. I look forward to going, which is also something I've never experienced before with working out. Tyler is very knowledgeable about the body and how it works. He explains the exercises so you know why you're doing the exercise and its benefits. The other members are also really supportive about your work and progress. When I first started, he helped me adjust the exercises so that it would match my level of fitness, so that was extremely helpful. Since when did I actually start looking forward to attending the gym everyday? Ah, right about when I found Tyler's Gym! When I moved to Burbank a few years ago, I was looking for a place to work out, but I'm a bit complicated. I don't like open-style corporate gyms. I will stand there for hours staring at equipment (and myself in the floor-to-ceiling mirrors) not knowing where to start, and am very prone to hurting myself. I need instruction and adult supervision. I used to do CrossFit - which like many, I had a love-hate relationship with it. Love the functional fitness aspect, hate the injury potential. I always thought the best trainers were those that used to do / teach CrossFit but don't anymore. They have the functional fitness background, but found a better and safer way to express it. That's Tyler! I also did personal training for a while elsewhere, but it got way too expensive. Tyler's Gym combines the best of both worlds with their Semi-Private training sessions. With just a few other classmates there each hour, you get similar attention as personal training, while keeping it affordable enough to be sustainable indefinitely. He's so great at altering workouts for people's physical (and emotional) vulnerabilities so I can confidently push myself without risking injury. "No more tears!" A friend asked me to join her for a free trial at Tyler's--and I'm so glad she did! I've. been going regularly for about 6 months now and it's been my favorite fitness and self-care option that I've tried in a very long time. I love that there are no mirrors, so that you really focus inward on connecting with your form as you work out. I'm so happy we found Tyler's Gym last summer. Both of my teenage kids are athletes with different needs. My 18 year old daughter wanted to get stronger and get comfortable in a weight room before she started working out with her college team. My 14 yo son wanted to bulk and build muscle. I've been taking classes here for just over two months now and haven't looked back! In the second half of 2023, I hurt myself 3 times because of a weak back. Because of the smaller class sizes, he's able to pay more attention to each person. He's always attentive and corrects my movements when I need it so I don't hurt my back while working on strengthening it, and he does this for everyone. Between his strength class and the yoga classes, my back is already feeling much more stable.
