You can park along the street, as there are no signs prohibiting it, but the vehicles do block the majority of the right lane. We were greeted upon entry and checked on during our perusing, but before entering we were also greeted by a Calico cat on the ramp leading to the entry door. They demanded a tax in the form of pets, which of course my wife had to oblige. The place is an older two-story home, which was obvious by the creeks of the floorboards. They have a lot of items to look at, which we love in a store; however, it would seem they are more geared to children with all the holiday items from Easter, to Halloween and Christmas. In the beginning, we were not impressed because the holiday items seemed to overwhelm the senses and draw attention from the actual antiques we were there to find, but the place eventually grew on us. Unfortunately, we did not find that had to have item and even though we enjoyed the time, we will not be adding this place to our favorites list to return yearly.

There is definitely a lot to see here but it seemed like as I walked though the booths I got the feeling of "been there done that" - I do this a lot so I have a routine and an eye for what what what I collect - I never enter one of these thrift shops uhm I mean "antique store" without a plan I rarely buy anything except for what I collect, if I have a need for something old, something new I shop on eBay or Amazon. Because there are many merchants represented here, the pricing can be extraordinarily inexpensive in some stalls while a bit overpriced in others. But overall, the pricing is pretty fair. I love looking through each stall and finding little treasures you just can't find anywhere else. On this trip, I found what I was looking for - a milk glass pedestal bowl - but it was a little overpriced compared to the previous thrift shop I had seen it at, so I passed on it. But my favorite time to shop at the Mercantile is just before the holidays. They always have such lovely and unique gifts for my family and friends (and myself). The staff at the cash register are always so friendly and pleasant. And they make the experience even more delightful.
