A new broom sweeps clean which must be the mantra of Two Maids. Their service started out excellent but quickly went downhill. After one cleaning person "cleaned" our house, she hadn't touched the kitchen sink. She also sort of mopped the kitchen floor. This was at a cost of $4.29 per minute. Unreasonable and unacceptable. We don't reward incompetence. After declining service this was the last straw. We have found a cleaning service that does an excellent job of cleaning for less money. read more

Terrible quality and service. My wife is a stroke survivor, and this year has put a lot of stress on her, so I called Two Maids and a Mop to have them deep clean our guest suite for the holidays to take at least one thing off of my wife's plate. The two ladies did a terrible job. They did not clean the ceiling fan. They did not clean the blinds. They did not clean the baseboards. They did not dust the furniture. They vacuumed, but did not so much as push the vacuum cleaner under the edge of the bed. We ended up re-cleaning the entire suite ourselves. Shortly after the cleaners left, my wife began receiving calls demanding payment. She asked them to call my number which they should have done anyway since I was the one who ordered the service, but for some reason, they never figured out how to call me instead of her. I called the office and spoke with Tracy about how bad of a job the cleaners had done. She offered to cut our price in half and give us a free premium clean. She said that a manager would be present for the next clean. I scheduled the free cleaning a few weeks later with the understanding that since we had just cleaned the entire guest suite ourselves, we would ask them to clean a comparable area in the main living space. When the ladies arrived for the second cleaning, my wife noticed that it was the same two ladies who had done such a terrible job the first time. There was no manager present. When the ladies came to the door, my wife asked them to take their shoes off or wear booties since we do not allow shoes in the main living areas of our house. This is a standard policy for people like my wife who grew up in Asia. There is a large Asian population in Birmingham, and we have never had any problem with other service providers complying and either removing their shoes or wearing booties. The ladies from Two Maids and a Mop, however, refused to remove their shoes and claimed that they did not have any booties to wear. The ladies called their office, and Tracy called my wife to tell her that the ladies would only clean if they were allowed to wear their shoes throughout the house. If i could give zero stars, I would. We paid 325 dollars for them to "clean" our house. They did an absolutely horrific job. That's a nice way to put it. Toilets, were not cleaned properly. The soap scum is still on the shower, they said they didnt have the product to clean it... YOU'ER A CLEANING BUSINESS. bring your stuff. As a nurse, if I show up without a stethoscope, I guess I should just not listen to the heart, cause i dont have my stethoscope. Leave and get the proper stuff and come back, that should be common sense, but apparently they dont have it, or just dont care. the refrigerator wasnt cleaned at all, and there is still stuff on the windows. There was dust still underneath the living room couch. They obviously didnt mop and sweep like they were supposed to. Our realtor showed up at the end of the cleaning and pointed out the dust, asked if she could use the vacuum to vacuum that part up and they said no and left. they should be embarrassed to even call themselves a cleaning company. "Two maids" would be a slightly better name, cause they obviously dont know how to mop, they barely knew how to clean. do not use this company. read more

I gave this company three opportunities to clean my home. Only one cleaning was satisfactory. The last time, the maid did not clean my shower. There was still hair and body wash left in my shower. Soap scum was still on my glass shower doors. The bathroom mirrors were streaked. The hardwood floors still looked dirty. I sent pictures to the company. They offered to come and reclean. When I told them I would consider the re-cleaning if it was free, I never heard back from them. I would not recommend them. read more

Short version: I paid these people to clean my rental property and then had to completely clean it myself after them before my new tenant moved in. Long version: I decided to use Two Maids & a Mop to clean a rental property of mine before a new tenant moved in because of all the good reviews I read online. I set up an appointment via email with the territory manager. I asked if they had a certain day and time available and she responded with "Yes, that works. Thank you!" There were a few more emails back and forth after that about how I wanted to pay and then I didn't hear from anybody from there again. On the day and time the cleaning was scheduled, I showed up to the condo and waited for the cleaners to show up. I then called the office to make sure somebody was on the way because I couldn't stay very long and I wanted to help them find the place (nobody ever can). The lady who answered the phone told me my cleaning was scheduled for the next day. I told her that wasn't right and she asked who I scheduled it with. I told her and she transferred me to who I scheduled with via email. She proceeded to tell me that they didn't have the day and time I wanted available so they scheduled me for the next day in the afternoon (a time I wasn't available) and notified me about it. I told her I never received any update about a change. She backtracked and said it had something to do with the call center not getting the message to me and she apologized for the mix-up and offered a discount for the confusion. I told her a time the next day that I was available and we rescheduled it for then. She also told me I didn't have to be there at all because her girls had cleaned at my condo complex before and they knew exactly where to go. The next day, one of the cleaners called me and asked which building she was supposed to go to and told me the address she was near which was on the opposite end of the street from where my condo is. She thought it was one of the two buildings she was parked by even though it was the wrong address. I told her I was on the way and gave her the address (which I assumed the manager would have given her already). When I got there, they had just found the building and had to turn around and park and unload their cars. We got inside and I left the keys in case they needed them. Nobody ever called me to tell me they were finished or almost finished, so later that evening I went by to check it out. They had left their own trash (taco bell sauce and an open bag of candy) and they hadn't cleaned the outside of the microwave at all because it still had smudges and old food crust on the outside. The bathroom also didn't look like it had been cleaned. It looked like the place had MAYBE been swept and they had a snack and called it a day and didn't even take their trash with them. Unfortunately, I had to clean the entire condo myself since I already had to pay a company to NOT clean it. Even with the discount for the scheduling issues on their end, it was definitely not worth it and it makes me sick that I paid them so much to do absolutely nothing. Before all of this, we were thinking about using them for our own house but we will definitely be going with somebody else for all future cleaning needs. Hired them for a one time move-in/move-out cleaning. They went to the house THREE times (later than scheduled on two occasions), and you could not even tell they had been there. I even have a handwritten letter from the manager stating the same thing. The communication between the owner and the manager was incomplete, and the information varied between the two people. I asked for at least a partial refund, but have yet to hear from either of them. In my mind I should receive a full refund! Will never consider this company again and will never recommend them to anyone! I have a picture of the handwritten letter on my phone, by the way, just in case they dispute my claims! read more

I suffered an illness & my mother passed in December. This allowed my housekeeping to greatly suffer. I ordered a "deep clean" with weekly visits thereafter. I received a long list of items that they would do. Two women showed up, they spent two hours at my house & left. The women were super nice but they didn't do even half of the list items. I should have checked better before I let them leave, but I was trying to work from home at the same time. Not surprisingly, no one ever called to schedule a follow up visit or to get feedback on the job. Nearly $400 down the drain and I still had to clean. While I can't prove it, a ceramic teapot that was passed down to me from my late Aunt was gone when they left. I remember hearing something that sounded like a crash at one point but when I hollered into the room, I was told everything was fine. After they left, there was an empty space on the shelf where the teapot used to be. It broke my heart that I spent the money thinking that it would take a load off of me only to discover that I should have just flushed that money down the toilet and done it myself since I literally had to do it myself. read more

If there were no stars, this company would receive zero stars. They state that they will arrive between 8 AM and 9 AM, and you ask if they can be there between8:30 AM and 9 AM, and they say no, absolutely not. They will schedule us for the afternoon. Yet; the ladies have never shown up until after 8:52 AM, not once. Then two women are able to clean a two-bedroom, two bath in under one hour? They depart by 9:45 AM. Really? Not a chance in the world you cleaned this apartment properly. $170 for a fifty-three minute cleaning? When they leave, there is dust on the headboard, dust on the dresser drawers, the kitchen cabinets are dusty, and the floor is not really clean. The never do any extras such as clean the blinds or wipe the windows. The mirror on the dresser has never been cleaned nor has the bedroom lamp or lamp shade. The workers are paid so little, that in order to make money, they need to skimp on your cleaning in order to get to the next job. Then the company repeatedly asks you to tip the workers. If you paid your workers a decent wage, they would be able to do a decent job. Instead, they are trying to do as many cleaning jobs as possible in order to make a living wage. This company is the absolute worst. I plan on writing 'you are fired' in the dust and sending it to them. Most likely, they will not get the message. Do NOT use this company. Instead donate your money to a good cause. Paying for this service is throwing your money away. read more

The concept is only as good as the people performing the service. They work by the hour not the job. Their pace determines the outcome. Broken coffee mug, a main level bathroom that appeared to be untouched, unusual time keeping. My wife had to go pick up kids before the maids were finished...it appears that was when they were finished. A confrontational argumentative office manager explained she was sad to lose our business...not so sad that she could find a compromise to keep us. We used them three or four times and some of the girls did a pretty good job but overall inconsistent and never seemed to finish the priority list as mentioned by another yelper. I knew I was taking a risk when I tried this service given the other poor reviews, but I really wanted to find a service that would ensure my house was cleaned weekly. Using independent people, we've had a lot of issues with the person calling off at the last minute which can leave you in a lurch if you're expecting company or something. Well! I'll be going back to finding someone independent because this place does not aim to get repeat business! You would think that they would do a good job AT LEAST the first time so you'd keep hiring them. Not quite. The people who said they are timed must be right. According to my security system, they were out of here like clockwork in 2 1/4 hours. There's no way even 2 people can clean a 5 bedroom, 3 bath house with 3,300 square feet in that amount of time. They skipped entire areas, the dusting was totally hit or miss, even my lazy 17 year old said they did a bad job and she could have (and has) done better. Scheduled cleaning and crew was due to arrive between 11:30-12:30. By 1:10 no one arrived so phoned office who attempted to contact crew but they weren't answering phone. I was told they might be on their way. Long story short, nobody showed up or called to say they were running late so I cancelled service. Very poor communication. read more

Moving into a Birmingham townhouse previously occupied by newlyweds and two large dogs, I wanted the accumulated hidden grime of several years cleaned before I unpacked. I paid up front for deep cleaning - $240. What I got was 3 hours of 2 pleasant ladies wiping, vacuuming and mopping the place from the floor to about 5' up the door frames. Ceiling fans, vanity lights, tops of blinds, tops of doors and windows, even the top 1/3 of the bathroom mirrors were left dusty or smeared. I specifically asked about woodwork and doorframes when I made the appointment. I was also promised an emailed list of tasks they would complete. Never saw it. When I called to complain, the only reparation offered was to send someone back out tomorrow. Who has time for that?! So now I spend the night cleaning after the cleaners. Huge rip off. I paid for the deep cleaning service because I am selling my home and wanted perfect for showings. I was disappointed because little things were not done correctly. I had windows in my kitchen above my sink that were not cleaned, my bedroom furniture was half dusted probably because the maids were short and couldn't reach it all but that's no excuse bring a stool to stand on. My office that has a built-in desk had some shelves dusted and some were untouched. My kids bathroom had what looked like mascara on the side of the sink that was left there after they so called cleaned it, which i wiped off easily. I paid $475 and I did NOT get my money worth. That way, the rest if the house would incur an increased rate in order to be completed. They also let me know that ALLL their cleaning product were "watered down". We paid for the "top to bottom cleaning"--$300 & "for as long as it takes." One of the reasons why I wanted the "big" cleaning was because in the list of things they were to do, "cleaning reachable windows" was one of them. The windows were not touched. The mirror in the living room, which was noticeably dusty & smeared, was not touched. My bedroom furniture might have been wiped AT, but it wasnt cleaned on the top surface. In one of the kids' bedrooms, instead of taking the 3 seconds it would have taken to move the few items around on the dresser to dust around them, he or she just swiped the very front of the top of the dresser. I used to clean houses, so please know that I know it's hard, hard work. But if I pay somebody $300 to clean my house, I expect the items that the company lists will be done for that price, to be done. I could have paid somebody $100 to do what they did. So, in the process of trying to find a good cleaning service in Birmingham, I initially booked with Two Maids & A Mop. But, after seeing some of the negative reviews, I decided to cancel my service with them. First strike was, they charged me a pretty outrageous cancellation fee. So, after cancelling, I scheduled for cleaning with another company for the same date. Well, I have a home security camera. I noticed that a cleaner had arrived. I watched for a little while, and noticed that she was using our products! And very liberally! I immediately called the cleaning company I'd booked with and went on a little rant about how for the amount we are paying they should use their own products. After a long conversation, we came to the realization that this cleaner was not from their team, their team hadn't even arrived yet. It turned out Two Maids & A Mop had sent a cleaner even though I'd cancelled! And now she was cleaning our apartment, and using up all of our products. I will say, I was able to call the specific cleaner in the apartment, and she was very nice and completely recognized that it was their error. She promptly left and let the other team in from the company I'd actually scheduled. But, pretty shocking that they would send someone to a job even though the homeowner cancelled, and they clearly use the homeowners products rather than their own. read more

The whole experience with Two Maids & A Mop has been horrible, and I really can't believe there are companies that treat people so horribly. I asked for the cleaning crew to be finished cleaning our home by 1 p.m., since that's when the new homeowners were taking possession of our home. They assured me they would get there early, but they didn't show up until 11:30 a.m. -- meaning they didn't finish until 3 p.m. (if they even stayed the full 3 1/2 hours). They are supposed to give a full refund if they don't show up on time, but I guess that's another lie they tell to get business. They also gave false information to the new homeowners saying I only asked for the main floor to be cleaned and to not clean the fridge, which was not the case -- and I have paperwork to prove otherwise. Now, we have unhappy home buyers and paid for services that were not received. I would definitely not hire this company. I contacted them with my complaint, and they put all of the blame on me. I asked for an apology since they lied about what I asked for (that's all I wanted from them), but they refused to give me one. I was so surprised they wouldn't tell me (or the current homeowners) they were sorry for lying. I've never heard of a company doing something like that. I don't want anyone else to have to deal with this company or their corrupt practices. read more

Do not ever use two maids and a mop out of ft. Walton beach , Fl. We relocated out of Florida to another state and I left a check for them to come in and clean after we had moved out. The person that came over to inspect the place to see if they had done their job reported back that NOTHING had been cleaned but they took the check. When I called to report it, the manager backed her employees by saying that she inspected it after they were finished and it was to her satisfaction. My wife was excited to have two maid for two and a half hours to come and clean our home. At $155.00 I thought this was a bit pricey, but I agreed. Well I got a call at work from my wife crying and very upset, the maids had only barely touched two bedrooms and a bath and were walking out the door. My wife had made a priority list for them to follow but they were moving very slow. When confronted that the list wasn't nearly finished they said "that will be $XXX amount more to finish." We were had, and they had us over a barrel. I called the company from work very upset. I told them what my wife had said and how upset I was. "I'm so mad I'm ready to write reviews of you all over the internet." The lady said she would get the person who knew of our situation on the phone, I was put on hold for a few seconds and hung-up on. So I called, and called only to get voiced messages. My wife called me and said that after my call they did hang up on me and called the maids at our home and told them to leave our house now. Come to find out they had sent a manager to our house who would not let my wife finish a sentence. My wife had become so frustrated and upset at being had by this company and the over bearing manager that she then called me crying. The customer service is horrible. Hate to complain about a small business. Know what a struggle that is but maybe this will save someone some money. Called for a "move out" clean which should be a very "deep" clean for $300 and then went out of town. A couple of family members came in after the clean to prime some walls and both asked me when the house was to be cleaned. Returning to town, I went over and cleaned out some cabinets myself. A couple of swipes with a wet paper towel got remaining dirt from the floor. I was told that it would take a professional steam clean for the floors to be clean. I wish I had be advised of that up front. They did go back over and spend about an hour after I called and expressed my disappointment. But of course, family had been in and any problems were blamed on them and I'm sure that may be partially true. But they didn't paint in the bathrooms, bedrooms, or laundry room. I truly wish I had saved my $300 and cleaned the house myself. Weekly cleaning may be fine with these folks but be leery of anything that's not surface cleaning. Sorry, Ladies. read more

Great concept, horrible service. Gave them 4 chances with plenty of feedback and my house was never thoroughly cleaned. Things like bathtubs not cleaned, carpets/stairs not vacuumed, trash left out on counters and I could go on and on. Every time, it was something else. They knocked a picture of the wall on accident, chipped the baseboard, broke the frame and the glass and didn't vacuum up the glass-it was all over my kitchen when I got home. The final time was complimentary with their top 2 maids and a supervisor to try and convince me to not cancel, but it actually sealed the cancellation for me. Several things were left undone or half done. When I spoke with the manager about it, she actually accused me of lying because her employees denied it. Unfortunately for them, I took pictures but just decided it wasn't worth the effort. I would never recommend this company to anyone and will make sure all those I come in contact with are aware of their practices. read more

We've had Two Maids clean our 3 times in the past 2 months. After the 3rd time of failed attempts and money lost, I will not be using them again. After the 1st visit the house looked great. But they broke one of our brand new blinds. When I called to discuss it, they were great. They do have excellent customer service - but I'm not paying for the customer service, I'm paying for my house to be cleaned. They offered to reimburse us for a new blind, or take off that amount from our next cleaning. For the price of the blind, we were able to get 30 extra minutes on our 2nd cleaning. When purchasing the 2 and 3 hour cleanings, they provide you a Cleaning Questionaire, where you specify your cleaning priorities. I listed my priorities for the 2nd cleaning, floors (vacuum, sweep and mop) being my top priority. When we got home, all priorities on the list had been hit...but not well. First priority floors - my kitchen was not even mopped. If it was, it was done with a dry swiffer. Because the spots on the tile (probably from our dog) were still there. At the point of scheduling the 2nd cleaning, I had also scheduled the 3rd cleaning. So after the dissapointment from the 2nd, I cancelled the 3rd. Again, with their great customer service and promise to make us as happy as we were after the 1st cleaning (minus the broken blind)...I agreed to a 3rd cleaning. They even threw in an extra 1/2 hour no charge. We went ahead with the 3rd, and I was even more dissapointed. Again the kitchen was not mopped, 1st priority I specified. I added dusting (including chandeliers and ceiling fans) as 4th priority. The chandeliers still had cobwebs when I looked the house over. My 5th priority - clean the windows on the doors, inside and out. 2 of the 3 doors with windows were not even touched. I even received a call during their cleaning to clarify which windows to clean, and to tell me that they were almost done with time to spare...so they were going to do a deep cleaning with the time they had left. With the fact that 3 of my priorities were not even touched, not sure what possible deep cleaning they could have done. Lastly, I was left a note that one of our toilets was leaking. When my husband looked at it, he simply turned a screw on the tank and the drip stopped. The toilet was not leaking when we left for work that day. Now, we can't place blame on the cleaners but it was weird that the drip did not happen till after the cleaning. And by a simple turn of the screw with fingers, no tools, the drip stopped. We're just praying someone wasn't being malicious. We are trying to find a permanent regular cleaning service, so we will continue looking. Again, I have to say Two Maids has great customer service. Easy to talk to, gets back to you relatively quick (within 2 days), and seems to be willing to work with you to keep your business. But I need to know that paying almost $200 for a 3 hour cleaning is worth our money. read more

I was a little disappointed in the professionalism of the ladies who cleaned my home. There were some issues that I feel should have been handled differently. For example, they spilled a bucket of mop water in the floor. The floor is a floating laminate hardwood floor that cannot be soaked like that because the boards will swell up and eventually wear down, break, and/or buckle. They didn't seem to be in a hurry to clean up the mess... or at least not as big of a hurry as I was. I suggested they use a bath towel or two, but they did not want to dirty up laundry. While I understand the concern they had, I was much more concerned with the investment I had in the floor. The water came a little too close for comfort to reaching a wall, where it could have damaged the sheet rock. Accidents happen and I understand that, but I just feel that it could have been handled more professionally. Also, I was disappointed in the service to some extent. I was told that they would take care of some little details, such as dusting/cleaning our DVD collection. Not only were these little details addressed, but some of the larger issues were not addressed either. I recall asking them on 3 different occasions about cleaning the windows, and when they left the windows still hadn't been cleaned. I know that each home owner has different needs and different expectations. My wife and I are looking for someone to clean our home on a regular basis due to our busy schedules and the current demands of our jobs. My wife also has some joint problems and it physically takes a toll on her to clean the house the way she likes to. As her husband, I hate to see her in pain for a week because of a day or two of cleaning. I wish I could help her more, but because of my work schedule I am not always home to help. If I knew I would get better service from your company, I would consider hiring you for a regular cleaning to simply keep the burden off my wife. But, if the service isn't up to par, she will just go behind them and do it herself, which will just defeat the purpose. read more
