Bev is the owner and she is very kind! She rents out the separate suite in the lower half of her beautiful home. There are two bedroom - one with a queen size bed and the second with two single beds. There is a full sized bathroom and a nice living room with a gas fireplace for those chilly night. The couch pulls out into a queen bed as well so you can easily sleep 6 people in this suite. It looks our onto the beautiful Strait of Georgia - we honestly were sad to leave! There is a fully stocked kitchen all you have to do is bring your own food and drink and you can relax and have a great time! We plan on brining our kids next time and staying to enjoy the beautiful view some more. Bev was kind enough to offer a bottle of white wine which was nice after our long day out on the beach foraging for shellfish. This place is a gem for sure and we would recommend it to anyone looking to get away and stay on the island.

It had a master bedroom with a king size bed and the second bedroom had 2 single beds. Our party was 4 adults and 1 child to share 1 bathroom, but it worked out for us. The full kitchen allowed us to cook breakfast whenever we wanted. The living room has enough seating for all of us and it was it was an open layout that connected with the kitchen as well as the dining room. There's a balcony right from the living room as well as a window looking out to the ocean. It was such a beautiful view to wake up to each morning. I remember waking at up 5:25AM to go to the washroom and I was such in awe of the sun just peaking out from the horizon that I decided to stay up to watch the sunrise. There's also a children's playground on the main Parking floor. It's small, but sufficient and kept my daughter happy. The only thing that prevented Ocean Sands from being 5 stars is due to the wear and tears of the place. The 2 Lazy Boy seats had tears near the head rest and generally the place was on the older side. There's also a few areas that needed cleaning and attention outside. Other than that, we all enjoyed our stay and would stay here again when we visit Parksville.

First, let me say that leading up to our visit, my communications with the owner/operator were pretty lax and informal. I didn't get an official confirmation of my booking other than an informal back and forth inquiry email that later served as my confirmation. This same relaxed feel continued when we arrived. The property has 11 campsites and 7 cabins. We booked a cabin, which was very reasonably priced. When we arrived, we made our way up some stairs to the "office" having to side step at least six or seven chickens that were just hanging out on the stairs. Hilarious. There was a note on the door that said check-in at the Skookumbus (an old painted bus that serves as a little roadside food stand - cute!). There we found Cheyenne and a few friends and family all hanging out around a picnic table. She was very friendly (and as expected extremely casual and informal). We made our way to our cabin encountering all manner of farm animals - chickens, roosters and baby ducklings - cute! Once we saw our little cabin we fell in love! We were in No. 4 (see map), which was one of the most secluded. I will say that none of the sites (both campgrounds and cabins) are particularly secluded and a few of them are pretty much right on top of others. I think the understanding, though, is if you're staying here, you're doing it for the charm, the price-point and the community feel of it all, which Strongwater has in spades. We had a restful night sleep in our adorable little cabin, though the described King Bed was just two twin beds pushed together. There were a few moments of being stuck in the crack, but otherwise we stayed warm and really enjoyed the whole feel of it. Checkout was, once again, extremely informal. We approached Cheyenne the night before we were scheduled to leave (as we were getting up really early the next morning) and found her around a campfire up at the Skookumbus hanging out with family and friends (pretty much right where we left her, haha!). I essentially just handed her the cash for the room, which she then directed at some other responsible person in the circle that I hadn't previously met. We thanked everyone for the great time and that was it. Even though we were there for less than 24 hours, we really enjoyed our stay. Personally, I would have liked a bit more of an organized structure to the payment system and the check-in and check-out process, as well as a little less nonchalance towards their guests, but it didn't bother me too much! I just interpreted it as that laid back B.C. vibe. Definitely put this on your B.C. checklist!

I had a great experience. I appreciate my hostess for setting that up for me. -Gourmet breakfast (incredible and with a view!). Very thoughtful meal preparation on the part of the hostess. -Dry sauna (sooooo well done and preheated for guests). They have cold plunge tubs, Nordic shower, and a tea rooom to do yoga or use dumbbells (all those I tried) and also a spa (I didn't try). -Great parking. The best part were Heather and Bob. They treated me very, very well; like family. When I awakened late on my check out day, they sent me on the road with breakfast as I was heading to catch a ferry boat. They didn't have to do that, but made it feel special. I "WILL" be back when in Vancouver. They made it so special. Rooms Exquisite and many options eg. main lodge or detached buildings. YES. That's my answer if you would ask "Should I book this place?". It's a perfect spot. There are…read moretwo houses. One is right by the beach and the other one is close to beach. We were at that one right by the beach and it's awesome. The upper floor belongs to owners (but they don't live there) and the lower one is all yours. And the owners are cool and very friendly and nice. There are entrance hall, two bedrooms, living room (including dining room), kitchen, bathroom (bathtub and shower corner), sun room, terrace and all of these are pretty big. And the beach is approximately 15 meters away, just walk through garden and you are there. Everything is fully equipped and furnished. No TV. Perfect. Beach is big, clean and ideal for surfers rookies. Price reflects awesomeness of this place. And you are in the centre of Tofino in 5 minutes by car.

It just so happens that my parents and I were the first guests of the current owners (the charming Todd and Lynda) after they took over in 2003. I cannot overstate how great Todd and Lynda are, and what a great job they do to make this place feel like home. We always rent the self-catering Garden Cottage, so I can't vouch for the breakfasts, but something tells me they're scrumptious. The cottage doesn't have a view of the ocean, but you're 30 seconds away, and the two suites in the main B&B building certainly do - and stunning ones at that. Plus, you're on Chesterman Beach, by far my favourite beach on the Pacific Rim, after 2 decades escaping out there whenever I can. I quite simply cannot imagine staying anywhere else.
