This place would've scored worse if it was not for the food. 1: It was over crowded which given the fact it was a Friday night, I'll let it slide 2: I'm currently enjoying man-voice due from speaking (read shouting) to the person next to me as the live band, who give them their props were very good, were so damn loud. Don't get me wrong I love live music but I'm at dinner not a concert. There's no need to crank it up to 11. 3. I'm a fairly fast eater. There really is no need to rush me. So don't keep looking over at my plate and start frowning. No amount of "more drinks for you madam" will make this less uncomfortable. On a more positive note the food was scrummy and you can go about it 1 of 2 ways. 1 is the buffet option where you can eat as much as you like for about £14. BUT barely in mind they'll discretionally charge you for the food you DON'T eat. Cheeky. Second option is your regular pick what you fancy from the menu. A dish works out roughly £5 and you get plenty for it as I came out feeling pleasantly plump afterwards. I have been going here for years whether you go in a couple or a group of 10 people the service and the quality of food is always good. They have two options: Option 1 A regular chinese menu from which you order a main dish around £5 which is plenty for one person. As a vegaterian this has the best selection of dishes, the monk duck in black bean sauce is great. Option 2 Eat As Much As You Like menu costing about £13 per person, what is great about this menu is that whatever you order is freshly cooked, not the ususal buffet where the found has been sitting there for longer than you care to think about. There are about 6 courses but you can opt in and out and choose what ever you want. I normally have a soup, vegaterian platter and a few main dishes to share. If you go around special occassions; Christmas, New Year etc they have live bands. I went once when I didn't know it was one of the special evenings and had to endure a band that Simon Cowell would probably describe as 'the worst thing ever'. Eat as much as you like buffet but with a difference.All the food is made freshly as you order and all for a VERY low price.£13.80 !! The restaurant is clean and seating very comfy.The staff are always smiling and the service is very quick.I have been here a few times and im going again soon.I would def reccommend going on a friday night as they have entertainment then too !! read more

The worst restaurant I've ever been to! Went here in September 2011 for a friends birthday and I can honestly say it was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. To start with were a relatively large party of 12, they decided to put together one large round table and a small one sticking out the side which is just impossible when ur sharing food. It was also right next to the speakers of a singer that they apparently have quite often, the music wasn't bad quality but was CRUSHINGLY loud, you couldn't hear yourself let alone eachother or the waiters. We asked if they would mind turning it down slightly, they said yes but then decided they'd move us all instead to the other side of th restaurant...which made no difference sound wise and just meant we were more crammed in to this hugely cover crowded place. From then it just went down hill, we decided to go for the all u can eat menu @ £15 pp. We noticed on the menu that they will charge you for any food left over so we all decided to order a starter each, some duck & lamb, and a main each. When the waitress arrived she proceeded to try to force us to order one of everything on the menu! We had this argument with her 3 times, I can only imagine they were trying to get us to over-order so they could charge us for leftovers. The only reason that over given this place a star is the food, it was very fresh and tasty. If the music hadn't been so loud it would've been fine. Then when people got up and started dancing between tables while we were still eating it was just laughable, my partner had to go outside as the noise was actually making his head pound. This place really felt like an ordeal we had to get through & we were so happy to be leaving.....eventually...after having an argument with the manager as he wanted to see our receipt for the deposit of £5pp, even though it was in their book AND on the bill. Not sure if I just caught them on a bad day but my experience was not good. The staff ate surly and unapproachable! With the exception of our drinks waitress who was extremely pleasant and very smiley, the rest did not want to interact and everything seemed an effort. The seating was cramped and uncomfortable, most of the furniture didn't even match! They had trestle tables with plastic wipe clean table clothes, just like a canteen. The accoustics in the property were such that you couldn't chat with people I certainly couldn't hear the replies, ended up sitting in silence, not exactly the best way to spend a night out on the town with your mates. The food was OK just run of the mill Chinese nothing special, the mixed starters were good as was the duck or, on my case as a veggie, the lettuce wrap. I ordered sea spiced aubergines, it was swimming in oil and the aubergines were so overlooked they were slimmy and tasteless. I was glad to get out of the place and very much doubt I will be back unless they make some big changes. read more
