My special needs brother was sunsetting so I started the online registration process. There are…read morevery limited options if you register online, so I waited and then he passed away the same day. I called them when he passed away and it was pretty easy as he was on hospice at the time. It still took over 4 hours to pick him up. Number 1 complaint - after someone passes it is very hard to schedule an appointment. Nothing happens until that appointment is completed. My brother passed away on a Wednesday night and they told me Monday was the soonest. After arguing, I was able to secure a Friday morning phone appointment. I had spoken to 2 other people before that appointment and all 3 people gave me different information. Here is what I think happens. When they are picked up they are taken to Bloomington. All bodies go there. I was told that some locations (Edina, Minneapolis, etc...) do their own cremations and some (St. Paul) do not. So the body is supposed to be moved to your location for cremation (if offered) or cremated and then moved to your chosen location. The second option could mean a week or more delay. So I picked Minneapolis as they assured me I would have the remains faster. I was also told he would be cremated over the weekend and the remains would be available Tuesday or Wednesday. You cannot schedule a pickup appointment until they have been cremated. I called on Monday and was told he would be cremated that day. It was actually Tuesday. On Tuesday I called again and they finally let me schedule an appointment. The soonest I could get was Thursday afternoon. The service was scheduled for Friday morning. What really irked was they made it sound so busy. NOOOO. We arrived early and were parked for a half an hour. No one came or went. It took 5 minutes. No one came or went while we were there either. Very poor customer service and they shouldn't make you wait so long. They do call and text afterwards to offer assistance. If only they paid more attention and care on the front end.

I signed up for a payment plan with them. Deposited money and never heard back. I called twice with…read moreno reply. I had to go in for a refund. Avoid this place like the plague!

Legacy Funeral Homes - Itemized form doubled the quoted price

Wish I'd looked at Yelp before we picked Legacy. Just learned the FTC is suing this company!! We…read morewere so upset with the bait-and-switch predatory tactics employed by Legacy Cremation and Families First funeral homes. My mother picked Legacy because she is on Social Security and they quoted her the cheapest price ($895) to cremate her son. After we downloaded and filled out all their paperwork, they sent her an itemized list of additional trumped up charges (see photo), which more than doubled the total. This would be insulting from any business, but preying on an elderly mother at a time when she is grieving her son is just deplorable! Luckily, I stepped in and we found the wonderful Crescent Tide Cremation Services, who charged a fair price of $995 including the crematory fee and everything. No extra credit card fees or charging us for the plain black plastic container the crematorium provides for free. (Legacy wanted to charge us $175 for that!) They were even trying to profit off of the medical examiner fee, which is only $50 in Hennepin county, but they were charging us $95. Plus, they were charging extra for the death certificates, which are $13 for the first one and $6 for each additional one in Hennepin County. And they added a $175 "processing fee" for the certificates! Outrageous and so insulting. AVOID!

Hello, I have some serious comments and questions about the quality of the obituary "recording" you provided for my family at your stillwater location. I can barely hear any of the footage on any devices and, the first eulogy is completely muted although, all inaudible. It seems your "videographer attempted to correct the the sound quality without results- once. ALong with. the grainy quality of the video, clearly reminiscent of worse than an 80' VHS Video camera, their lack of attempt at staying on cue of the service was blatant. The inability for simple tasks such as, focusing on each family member eulogy and then switching to the the following featured music. The absence of giving a panorama or any other angles of the beautiful memorial table and environment I worked so hard to make Even just acknowledging the guests, eulogist, memorial table, so carefully arranged flowers,or slideshow- even the main pedestal will never be something we can refer too. I trusted you with what you promised and we paid for. And, now it is too late to have have any accurate preservation of my Mother's ceremony. I Would've happily had my friend use their iPhone and provide a record for our family. With visual and audible quality that can be cherished, shared, and experienced not only each other but those unable to attend our family-friends-grand kids, etc Especially during COVid where ceremony sizes were limited you had an even larger obligation to divulge the quality of the Camera, technology. and operator. That we could give what we promised them and they would not be able to, even remotely, experience the memorial and say goodbye to someone they loved. But, we trusted you, as promised to provide us with a technology adept record. So, we could worry about the intense weight of simply experiencing her funeral. You failed us to the highest extent I will now never be able to relive my mom's memorial in. Making a promise of things you couldn't provide and charge us highly for, especially, to grieving loved ones is unacceptable. It is something we have to live with the consequences for the rest of our lives. Other families have to experience this is what I want to prevent because, I know how it feels. Look forward to hearing from you.
