Review 1000, who'd have thought. This is the oldest cemetery in St. Paul. Here are some of the big…read morename St. Paul families in their time. Irving, Bigelow, Carpenter, and Griggs to name a few. Throw my name in there too. We have the family plot and the headstone, four names on one. Since this is the East side there is a special area for Orthodox Christians and we all visit once a year for the day of the dead, first Sunday after Easter. There are many Hmong families here, and their headstones are unusual as they are all black and the print is white. There is a handy company across the street that does the headstones. And yes, it's pretty weird to see your name on one. But I'm glad it won't be a burden to our sons. It's not a huge cemetery, so you can't get too lost. Nothing like thinking of death on my birthday.

Beautiful old mausoleums sporting neoclassical columns that speak to the present of times past. Be sure to check out the odd, still phallic-looking stele that closely resembles a circumcised penis. It's near the fire fighters' memorial. An unleashed pitbull accosted me here, running at full-tilt with his ears back. But he was friendly, warm, and alive. To stroll here is to be reminded that we spend the vast certitude of existence as but a memory of the living if we are remembered at all. One wonders what tales the dead here have to tell about our city, when their spirits ascend their tombs in the still of night within this city of their own. A half block to the east of this venerable burial ground lies the entrance to the stunning Gateway Bike Trail, an 18 mile paved rail trail that takes one from the gang graffitied ghettos of St. Paul's north end to bucolic farmlands and small forests at the Stillwater terminus.

I recently lost my best friend - my mother - who fought a long hard fight against Ovarian cancer…read more Her wishes had always been cremation and after much deliberation we decided on Crescent Tide for their services. When it came time to fulfill these services, they were absolutely wonderful to work with. Crescent Tide was professional from the minute they arrived at the home, to the minute that they loaded my mother's body and left. I truly appreciated the care and concern they took through the whole process, they even made sure all items on my mom where wanting to be with her because I wouldn't get anything back. They also had a beautiful large patchwork quilt that was homemade by one of the worker's mother's to cover my mother with as they moved her. I just truly felt the compassion and care from Crescent Tide. The other thing to note is the paperwork. They made everything extremely simplistic and easy to navigate, which I appreciate. From hassle free electronic signing to in-person options as well, they did their best to accommodate to my mother's wishes and my needs during this hard time. When her ashes were ready they had a nice selection of urns to choose from if you wanted, while also providing a plastic container with sprinkling remains. They also give the option for dividing up remains as you like at no extra charge and will even let you bring in an external urn if you have one ~ you really can't beat that! Pricing is very competitive as well. I appreciate the simplicity that Crescent Tide offers when it comes to just wanting basic cremation services. Everything they said they would do is exactly done to a "t". They are an ethical company that takes pride in their business and keeping pricing affordable for their customers. I highly encourage you to consider this company in your estate planning if you or any family members are interested in cremation. It's such a simple, cost effective option ~ and allows you to focus on those other important matters during time of death that may be otherwise hard to do so when worrying about these logistics. Crescent Tide takes all worry away with their professional and complete understanding of burial process. Thank you Crescent Tide!
