After the pronouncing of her death I had to call the funeral home to pick her up. I was told they were busy, and they came in a timely manner. Even it's a loved one, a dead body in the bedroom is damned creepy. We were able to make arrangements the next day. I like how during the visitation they're so available and on top of things. Turns out we shared the day with a much younger man who was very popular and had almost 200 guests. We were in the smaller room across the way, yet as people came in they were drawn to our side to sign in. This basically led to me directing traffic, rather than visiting with our guests. So right away the director moved our sign in to inside our room, problem solved. They are very good at helping you keep costs down. At stressful times like this you want friendly, co-operative people at your service.

The service/memorial room was big and they had separated the chairs in to w sections...so only having to walk in front of four people versus eight. A small parking lot, but I had arrived early. It's a nice touch that there are a few benches out front, under the carport so if you need to take some time outside. When I left I circled over to the other side of the room to look at pictures and exited the room through the south door...very nice that that room was used for desserts. Since this is the East side there is a special area for Orthodox Christians and we all visit once a year for the day of the dead, first Sunday after Easter. There are many Hmong families here, and their headstones are unusual as they are all black and the print is white. There is a handy company across the street that does the headstones. And yes, it's pretty weird to see your name on one. But I'm glad it won't be a burden to our sons. It's not a huge cemetery, so you can't get too lost. Nothing like thinking of death on my birthday.

A half block to the east of this venerable burial ground lies the entrance to the stunning Gateway Bike Trail, an 18 mile paved rail trail that takes one from the gang graffitied ghettos of St. Paul's north end to bucolic farmlands and small forests at the Stillwater terminus.

She was given pictures of my husband in his casket she was sent obituary copies she was also given the address, date, and time of his burial which I wanted to be very private. I later learned the funeral home was supposed to persuade me from having my husband cremated which I did have done at another funeral home but he ( the director ) for some odd reason felt the need to remain in close contact with her throughout the entire ordeal.
