Justin spent a great deal of time with me, and got me the lowest deal of any other agency I spoke with. They are full service, and with the use of a computer he got me five different quotes in a matter of minutes. I went to Set Apart Insurance on the recommendation that they take time with customers, and provide good pricing. I understand they handle many insurance companies. Since I already having Mercury Insurance, I was skeptical. I was using a well known insurance agency in Simi Valley. I had an incident with my car and my lawnmower (placed in my garage) over the last year, and they were not able to guide me through a decision nor coach me much on how I could navigate through the process and make a decision. Their answer was to call Mercury direct. In fact over the last 15 years, the only time I heard from the agency was when my premium was due. They never reached out to review my policies with me. Long story short, I gave Set Apart a shot. I sent over my insurance summary information to Justin who evaluated my coverage with Mercury and set out to see if he could help me. Not only was Justin able to beat the price of my old broker, but he was able to lower the deducible on my 4x4 at the same time! The insurance was still with Mercury, so that told me my old broker was not doing their job and was not customer service oriented. Justin explained that my collision coverage of 10/50 may not be enough to cover an incident. he was right - that coverage would not pay for a serious injury in today's inflated medical costs. Maybe it was OK 15 years ago but not now. I hadn't thought about this coverage much over the years. I decided to upgrade the coverage by a factor of 10, and it only cost me a small amount more! I was happy to move my business over to Set Apart, and am very happy with Justin's customer service and attention to detail. I would recommend Set Apart to anyone who wants another look at their coverage/premiums, or perhaps is not getting the proactive customer service they should be getting with their agent. read more

5 stars and then some! Before I had even gone to Set Apart Insurance for my own needs, I had already referred my own mother to Tim for issues she was having regarding car insurance. I know Tim and several of the other gentlemen who work at Set Apart, having been in the same church group with them for many years prior. I knew if anyone would do whatever they could to get the best possible rates, even under the worst conditions, it would be Set Apart. The name says it all. SET APART! It's not just another conglomerate insurance place, when you are with Set Apart, you are family. I had to navigate the tricky waters of health insurance and finding a plan that would suit my health needs while also not bankrupting me, as Blue Shield decided to up my rates another $100 per month without any consent on my part for 2017. I went through Justin Conkey and even after our first meeting I was still hesitating on which was the right plan for me, so he did NOT pressure me into just picking the highest plan right then and there. He printed out all the info I needed to compare and contrast and let me think it over. I went home with the information, studied it through, asked him questions on the phone, and I knew I could trust his honest opinion...not just as an insurance broker, but as a friend, a hardworking family man, and a Christian. I knew after looking over everything, and Justin informed me, that even though my current health insurance plan was going to be nearly $600/month at the start of the new year...which I absolutely could not afford anymore... if I went too low down on my new policy that the monthly premiums would be much lower, but the overall deductibles to be met and other out of pocket costs would skyrocket and still end up costing me in the long run. It was not BS or "upselling", it was true, and with my health, I need pretty extensive coverage. I work, but am not able to hold down a full time job, so I needed affordable, but not cut rate coverage. The Silver PPO was much cheaper than the Gold Plan, and loads cheaper than the previous Platinum plan I once had through Blue Shield...but what I saved on monthly premiums would quickly get eaten away by hefty co-pays, deductibles, and higher prescription and diagnostic testing costs. I was not coerced into picking the Gold Plan simply because it was more expensive than the Silver, I came to the conclusion on my own, evaluated my healthcare needs, weighed my options, and with Justin's guidance and knowhow of the way the insurance game works, told him to go ahead with it. He completed a good 75% of the paperwork on his end and all I had to do was digitally sign some consent waivers and terms of service, verify my info, and pay my first month's premium for January 2017 online. I honestly was banging my head against the wall when it came time to choose a different plan and was so grateful Justin took time out of his busy schedule, even being a father to a brand new baby girl, to go to the office, to meet with me, to talk with me over the phone about every question or concern I had, I could not have done this on my own in the slightest. I appreciated that both Justin and Tim took their time out to help my mother and I extensively with our insurance needs and do everything possible to make the best out of a confusing and difficult situation.
