To paraphrase Dire Straits, "He'll do everything for you..." He's a good teacher. An expert in repair and on equipment. He remembers customer names. He goes the extra mile. Example? Two of my iron shafts snapped recently beneath their grips. Happened about two months apart. They had rusted. For the second repair, Kevin contacted the manufacturer, got the new shaft, and repaired it without charge. Now....who's going to do that for you at a chain store? Great place. They'll take good care of you and make you feel at home.

A lot of interesting holes, some housing along the course but never intruding with big setbacks and plenty of holes routed through woodlands and no houses. Felt like a good country club course. I would recommend the course to any mid to better player. I played it about 6,700 yards or so and that was a challenge. Tips would be tough if you're not 300 off the tee regularly.

This was one of the 5 courses our group of 12 played during out guys golf weekend…read more It's in the Golf Digest top 100 public courses in the US and a Donald Ross design. Like most all of DR's designs there are a lot of bunkers. You'll be challenged by the green side bunkers that will create a challenge for you. Not that many fairway bunkers but a few that will get your attention. You won't come back to the Clubhouse on the Turn but you will find the 'Half-Way House' which will be a welcome pause for food and beverage. There were mixed reviews of the course from our group of 12 but everyone acknowledged it was a good experience since it was a DR Design. The one problem we all agreed on was the many permanent Cart Path Only holes.

But my girlfriend and I caught a weird vibe from the workers. It was Robert and another guy wearing an Irish golf cap unsure of his name. But I first picked out the club I was going to buy and it had an old timey leather golf grip, like something Bobby Jones would've used. I was wanting another MCC grip that matched all my other clubs to be put on the wedge. They both gave me a scuffled look like they didn't want to do that. They were persistent that this was a $50 golf grip and that I should keep it. It is not what I wanted and they were not very fond of me changing the grip. Robert eventually let me do it, but was very judgmental about it. I then wanted to see the different options available of grips and politely asked if I could walk to where the grips were. He gave me a pretty stern No. I understood, but overall was a weird interaction. Got my club and it was good work, But the workers interaction with me rubbed off the wrong way. Would Not want my girlfriend going into this golf store alone to buy me something. 2 Stars.

This is one of the best courses I have ever played but either the 3rd or 4th favorite at Pinehurst. Keep your drive out of the trees and you'll be fine. There is no OB. It does certainly help when you blast a shot into someone's yard and then get a free drop two clubs from the white stakes. Apparently they are changing this rule soon. OB is coming to National. Anyhow, I would recommend it for the price an quality of course.
