It's not exactly well known to the mobs of international tourists yet so the rise of Mosel wine region is still a bit understated thing. That said, older Germans like to come here for trips, and this neat wine bar specializes wine pairing. For a flight of four Rieslings, which is what this wine region is famous for, it is $6. Yeah you heard me right, it's $6. The water did cost more but it's all well worth it. Next time you are in Germany, make a pit stop at Cochem, it's one of the prettiest German towns out there, with the Rhine river running through it, a castle perched up top, and boats running through this old town. I have been to Germany more than half a dozen or so times since the last few years, this city and this wine bar definitely stands out more than most!

Being the southern American girls that we are, we each wanted our own flight. The server told us that one carousel would be enough for whole table, so we decided to listen to his suggestion. For dinner I chose the shrimp and dill flatbread which was delicious and large enough in size that I had leftovers. The 12 wine carousel was indeed large enough for our table and we each found our favorites. One star down for the wait time. While it is customary to have a nice sit down meal in Europe, I did notice other locals seem to have to flag down the waiter several times.

When we arrived it was 10:45 and when we asked as we sat down when they closed, the young bartender told us they closed at 11pm, but would let us know when last call came around. We ordered a couple of lovely German reds and proceeded to enjoy another hour or so of conversation and another glass of wine. Finally at nearly midnight we hear last call. You have two rooms to choose from: one that is more laid back and one that is more sophisticated and fancy. We went with the laid back room. Our server was absolutely amazing and gave us the perfect recommendations. I will 100% become a regular at this wine bar!
