There are not very many seating choices, but the cool thing about Europe (unlike America) is that you can sit with strangers at a table and everyone is cool with it. Beers are pretty cheep, ,50l Dinkleacker 3€. It was Saturday, so eventually the place was sardined with people. They do have waiters who come by and pick up glasses, and you can order drinks with them, so you don't have to fight to get to the bar. Overall, not a bad night out. They turned the music up about 5 decimals around 10 which was annoying because it was already loud and after that my throat was dry from yelling and I could barely hear my friends who were sitting right next to me. Or I could be getting old. Who knows. Let's just say there's a reason I go to bars and not clubs. Anyway, if you're in to that kind of thing, this is your place. As for myself, I might return on a weeknight where hopefully there are less people in the room.

It's a bit divey, for sure, but not in a dirty or dingy way. Despite Yelp saying that credit cards are accepted here, the bartenders told me otherwise (with a 30CHF bill), so keep that in mind if you're visiting from out of town and have limited Swiss currency. I'm guessing those instances are probably limited, given the relative neighborhood-y feel to the bar, but with its proximity to the train station you never know. There's not much specifically identifiable as great about Olé Olé, but it's the culmination of everything about the place that just makes it generally lovable. The bartender gals are cheerful and charming, and even manage to have their own labeled beer as a result of their infamy. The patrons are chill, but friendly, so much so that we wound up back at the flat of one of the people we met at the bar to have some after-hours drinks and inevitably chat about global politics (some things never change). Pricing seemed decent, with 4 beers (I think) being about 25-30CHF. They only had the local beer Amboss on draft in two varieties, which was pretty mediocre, but still better than the Bud or Miller products you would find in a similar dive back in the U.S. This definitely feels like more of a shots or whiskey sipping kind of bar. The bathroom deserves its own special mention here, with some of the most odd / interesting decor I've ever seen, featuring a full size skeleton hovering over the toilet with a bouquet of flowers for a groin, and a machine that dispenses something called "Travel Pussy".

The crowd is kinda down-to-earth till the a-wanna-be-a-hipster. The music is nice (alternative - Rock). Prices of drinks are OK. Normal prices for Kreis 4. Just pay attention, it is a narrow bar. And my goodness it does this extremely well. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The clientele is in no way predefined. There is an eclectic mix of young and old, nerdy and hipster, locals and foreigners. Basically it is a place where everyone can just feel comfortable. The best thing about this place though is the live music. I have been there quite a few times, with absolutely no idea of who/what was playing and each time pleasantly surprised with the quality of music that is on show. The bar is not that big which helps in making the atmosphere as it doesn't require many people to give it that full/pumping feel. And as much a people squeeze into the back, there is always room at the front for a little boogie. After the bands back up, a DJ is generally on hand to lay down some tracks and set the mood. One of my favourite bars in Zürich!
