This weekend we came in the square braved the lines and got our tokens so we could enjoy samples from all breweries the festival have to offer. the line to pay for the ticket had some pretty nasty event organizer, the lad was very rude and vicious, I with I didn't have experienced that side of Brussels, after we got our tickets everything was ok again, hope next year she doesn't come back. The European way of life is one I love, you see the people hanging and drinking as well as enjoying cigarettes and cigars at the square while enjoying the brews of choice from the over 30 brewers that were there serving their beers, there was a fun band as well and some giveaways, people networked and had fun with strangers this was really a great time. this beer festival gave me the opportunity to try a CHOCOLATE CHERRY BEER! I was amazed with it. it tasted so good that now I am sad that I can only have that beer in Belgium lol I must come back here one day this festival is very worth it.

Seriously.. it is a once in a lifetime experience for some, a several in a lifetime for those lucky enough, and a never-got-a-chance-to-do-it for most others. The attention to detail and love for the customer/festival-goer is second-to-none. I attended w my gf and we camped out for 3 days straight, attended workout class at their amazing outdoor gym, met people from aroud the world, walked 30k steps, ate incredible food and dancing our hearts out to world-class DJ's. Did my entire body feel completely beaten up afterwards? Yup. DId I spend way too much money? Sure did. Did I average 4 hours sleep each night? That is true. Would I do it all again? You betcha!! I highly recommend everyone attend at least once... you won't regret it (probability speaking that is).

Bring layers and a poncho, plus extra shoes or waterproof ones - in July, it can be extremely hot during the day with sporadic rain showers and it gets quite chilly at night. I was fortunate enough to have stayed in Montagoe ("glamping" area) this year, which was amazing - will definitely be aiming for a spot there again in the future. The mainstage burned down two days before weekend one this year and I am so impressed by how quickly they pulled together another stage - it was much smaller and nowhere near what the original would have been but at least there was a stage! My heart goes out to all those who worked on the stage, set design, and festival though because I've heard they start planning stage designs like two years in advance and it must be so hard to have watched this happen. I've met so many fantastic people from all over the world. Can't wait to return to this magical place again!

I love that the event lasts for 10 days, so when you live in the city, you can really get the most out of your ticket, stopping by each evening, if you wish! BSF gets some big names (my favorite was Amy Macdonald last year) both internationally and locally. This festival includes upcoming artists as well in smaller stages, which is fun to see close up. For about 50 eur pp for the 10 day pass, this festival is definitely worth it, even if you just want to go a couple times. Along with your ticket/wristband, you can also visit a few museums for free/reduced price during the 10 days that BSF takes place!

Annual barman's race in the afternoon, with contestants representing the many bars and cafes in Leuven. Great fun day for all the family - not to be missed!

Super cool event that was held for the first time in Brussels, which offers a fun alternative to…read moreeating out with friends at a restaurant. From Friday-Sunday, this event was held within a few minutes from Central Station, which easily attracted people who were excited for this event as well as innocent bystanders and tourists in the area. This was held on the sidewalk area when you walk from Central Station toward the Cathedral and was packed with at least 30 different vendors from France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Belgium. Prices ranged but for appetizers, drinks and main course you could expect to spend around 20-25 eur. I had bio beers from one vendor (sorry, I really can't remember the name!) and appetizers from La kitchenette Sa Muze, which included bread and aubergine spread--could have included more bread but was good. I had a nice veggie burger (the line was super long but well worth the wait) at Urban cook, which was delicious and cost 9 eur for the burger and a small packet of fries with homemade mayo. My boyfriend had something from Bugs in Mugs and really enjoyed trying bug food for the first time! He said he couldn't even tell it had bugs in it (I think they ground up the bugs and made it into a sort-of flour.....Anyways, from the one day I was there, I would say this event was a success. I hope it comes back in 2015 or even sooner!

Great festival. Great music. Great atmosphere. Didn't get 5 stars because you have to pay to use…read morethe toilets (they weren't even clean! I've never had to pay for a toilet at any other festival). Also, you are required to purchase tickets to buy drinks and food, which is okay, but you're stuck with a ton of tickets after the festival which can't be used for anything! One of our group had to throw away about 100 dollars worth of tickets because he wasn't able to use them all. Another down thing about this festival is that they shut down the rooms which get full. Not so good when you book such popular artists like Knife Party, Disclosure, etc. The best highlights this year were Dillon Francis, Knife Party, Flosstradamus, Gesaffelstein, and Annie Mac. Thanks for a great time. We'll be back next year!
