The concert venue Music centre TRIX is located just outside the heart of the city and is only a 15 minutes tram ride away from Antwerpen - Centraal railway station (tram 10 Wijnegem and get off at "Borgerhout Hof ter Lo"). U won't find any top-billed artists on the stage. The TRIX is known for its alternative music profile and with a standing capacity of 1100, it brings u face-to-face with the entertaining live shows starring Amanda Palmer or Emilie Autumn's fantasy rock. The American pop rock band OneRepublic, the rap metal band Limp Bizkit and the Belgium singer Stromae all performed sold out shows at TRIX!

Actually, what was annoying was that the outside area was pretty packed which meant that we ended up having to sit inside, which wasn't a bad thing, but the European outside experience is much better than it is in Australia (in many cases they try to be European and fail abyssimally - for some reason I simply don't like sitting on sidewalk seats in Australia). Anyway, this is basically a beer bar, and a pretty cool one at that. When I was there it was pretty quiet (except for the fact that there were no seats outside) but it had a pretty nice atmosphere and a great interior. Personally I probably can't say all that much beyond that, expect that it was pretty cool and I really enjoyed it.

The service was warm and friendly right from the start, which always sets the tone. I ordered an arugula sandwich, and honestly, it was surprisingly delicious! Fresh, flavorful, and just the right portion for a light snack. My husband went for a coffee while I had a citrus tea -- both hit the spot. Even though it was a chilly day, lots of locals were sitting outside enjoying their drinks (clearly tougher than us!). As desert dwellers, we were more than happy to cozy up inside where it was warm. After a wild travel day, we had a reservation and were able to sit outside on their ample patio. First, we started with the tapas board - which was chef's choice. We had corn, samosas, chips and three different dips, pickled veggies, - and everything was so so good. I was particularly in love with the black garlic dip and the corn (to the point, where I then got a whole order of the corn for my entree). Afterwards, my friend also ordered the not-chicken burger, which turned out to be mushrooms, and sweet potato fries. Both were delicious! (My one point of critique, is I wish the menu would say what the "meat alternative" is - I am much more likely to order a mushroom burger than a meat substitute product, for example.) Additionally, the service was fantastic - our waiter was so personable, provided recommendations for the city, and made our experience that much better!

When you first walk into the shop you get the feeling of entering a thrift shop, here you can get a…read morecoffee. Which was delicious and done with great care. If you walk past the counter you enter the vinyl part of the store. At first you think it's neatly organized and well taken care of. The price stickers on the records will tell you that some records are way overpriced and some are good bargains. (You have to watch out for bootlegs in the store, so buyer's beware.) The quality is great overall. You have a splendid couple of hours digging until you go to the counter to pay for your selected records. Then the horror begins. He looks at the records and the prices. He takes them over to his computer and starts searching and comparing prices on Discogs and Ebay. For instance I had a couple of records with a price sticker of €18, which is a lot for a common second hand record in decent shape. Discogs prices were between 15 - 30. I checked this to know whether €18 was a good price for a VG+ record you know. He comes back to me and says I needed to pay 35 for that record and over €150 for the 4 records in total that I wanted to buy. Which he priced himself between 12 - 25 each before. I wanted to bargain with the guy, but no bargain available. I said that it was illegal to change your prices from your store in real time. He got furious took the records off the counter and told me to not come back unless I got rich. I was in complete shock. I had hard earned cash that I wanted to buy records with, yet he won't see me again. You can do this for yourself, but later that day I typed in "Coffee & Vinyl Discogs" on google to find his Discogs store. Oh man his prices are almost always the most expensive. He lost the plot, He's got an appetite for money full of greed and craving for cash. It's a shame. I really hope he turns around some day and looks at his vinyl to see music instead of dollar signs. Go for a coffee and you get caffeine Go for records and you will have a bad day.
