I'm reading several reviews with lower stars claiming that the teachers are "too serious", so I had to give my input! We took our child to another dance school before this one and there was a clear lack of discipline when it came to keeping the children focused. The kids(at the other school) would lay down, yell, walk around, jump around, make faces at the mirrors, and this would distract EVERY other student. I appreciate the focus the teachers here give to the students and if you want to take your kids to another school where they can do whatever they want, message me. We are paying fees to a DANCE SCHOOL, where children learn to DANCE. Take them to a playground if you want them to have free play or keep them at home and play Pandora and have them dance. It's parents like YOU who tend to blame teachers if their kids are misbehaving or failing classes. Take some responsibility as a parent and do not take your child here if they are going to be a distraction to the class. read more

Decided to try this place out because I have an active 20 month old. The facility itself is not warm and inviting nor is the staff. There was no temperature check and we are currently in a pandemic so this was worrisome to me as there was a parent who looked very ill. I decided to keep a distance for both my daughter and myself. The activities required usage of fake flowers and dancing scarves both of which looked super dirty and unsanitary I don't think this place cares to clean up. Then during the class one child broke a glass jar and there was glass everywhere I hurried to pick up my daughter and put on some shoes. I wanted to leave as the experience wasn't to my satisfaction however my husband insisted we saw the class to the end. It failed to engage my daughter and the place was unsanitary and unsafe needless to say but we will not be returning. read more

Had a horrible experience today at this school. My mom used to take my daughter here, but they haven't been there for months, until yesterday. (We were still being charged for those months.) My daughter is 3, and she's a happy, friendly, almost too friendly, bright, energetic and a hyper little girl. Since she hasn't been there for a while, I guess she was super excited to see her teacher, and classmates, so she was too hyper, jumping around everywhere. The teacher looked tired, moody and looked like she was in a bad mood. She told my mom, she can't let my daughter stay in her class, and kicked them out! It seems like they only like quiet kids, and I guess my daughter was too happy and hyper for them. The teacher didn't try to take care of the situation, it was very unprofessional of her. Very disappointed in the teacher and the school. Btw, the floor's been always dirty there! read more

The school is super cute and the location is great too. Next to many restaurants, coffee shops etc. But I took my 4 year old daughter for a free trial and the class was upstairs in an open area with no shade at all. I was dying from the heat and felt bad for all the little girls dancing in the heat. The only one that had a bit of shade was the teacher. The atmosphere seemed way too serious and tense for a ballet school for kids. The kids didn't look like they were having fun, they looked almost scared. .We had told the teacher at the beginning of the class that the was my daughter's trial class. And at the end of the class, the teacher didn't approach us to talk to us a bit more about the program or what we had thought. . When we approached her, she almost seemed like she didn't want us signing up for the class. She didn't give us any additional information or even introduced herself. My daughter had lots of fun dancing anyway (alone because all the other girls again, looked scared and I didn't see them smiling at all) and that's why I'm giving this place 2 stars. Overall, we didn't feel welcomed at this place and didn't feel like this was the right atmosphere for my 4 year old daughter. read more

The reason I gave this 4 stars: This was my favorite mommy & me dance experience yet! Ms Shelly was truly amazing with the kids & I would love to take my daughter back. It was clear that the children learn and that the teacher is experienced and kind. She also explained everything about getting started as a student there. Good customer service means a lot! The reason this place didn't get 5 stars: I can't figure out how to do half stars or I would. The only thing that threw me was how dirty the floor was. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, and when my daughter needed to use the bathroom, I was pretty grossed out by the condition of the floor there too, which was worse than the dance floor. I mean really they are the only reason I brought my daughter back to Tutu school. The place is so cute with pink walls and dresses hanging. The professionalism and expertise of Stacy & Shelly you definitely CANNOT get anywhere else especially since they are real ballerinas! Stacy and Shelly are so sweet, great and patient with the kids from all age ranges that I've seen because again I been bringing my little one since she was 1. The parking is validated or there is street parking. Where do I start on my LOVE factor with the TuTu School Pasadena?!?! It's our favorite place to go each week. My daughter is 4 and is starting to learn her choreography for her next Bravo Bash recital with the school. She performed in the Nutcracker with the school in December and it was breath taking. She's learned so much and is anxious for more classes and lessons. She loves to dance. The studio is clean, always smells wonderful and full of the best boutique selection of dance wear. Her teacher Stacy is amazing. She's not only knowledgeable and talented. She's nurturing and truly is a wonderful teacher. Her sister Shelly is awesome too. I am very thankful for the studio and we are looking forward to a long road of classes til she's ready to move to the next level and graduates the studio into a pre pointe. I know both of these teachers will get her there. I was a dancer and now I get to share my love with my daughter. The studio has amazing parking! They validate too. There's an awesome coffee shop in the same area. So you can get some tea and coffee and watch your child. My daughter has made many friends in her classes. A nice clientele of parents too. I took my twins here for a trial lesson and they had a wonderful experience. The teacher is very sweet and the kids all seemed to enjoy themselves while learning new moves. I was also very impressed with how warm and inviting the parents were doing our visit. Everyone seems to know one another and were very engaging. The tutu's at the studio are super cute and they are actually pretty affordable. Although we didn't sign up for this particular program (distance was a factor) I will be back to pick up a couple of cute tutu outfits for my girls. Great experience. read more

This school is super cute and I seriously fell for the marketing. Great website and pamphlets. They sell the cutest things - Tutu's and bows and little backpacks. I bought all of it. The teachers seem very serious about dance, maybe a little too serious where toddlers are concerned. I took my 2-year old and it was a little too intense for her. She kept losing interest and the energy was just too tense. My biggest issue with the school is that its just one giant room. When you walk in you walk straight through to the dance area. It's just too much commotion in one small space. During the class my daughter kept running towards the door, trying to exit. I mean I guess that's how bad she didn't want to be there. And in general she does love dancing. I never considered how space is so important when it comes to dancing. The dance area in itself was pretty small. I mean I guess they're trying to make it work. But honestly this school would benefit from a new location with more space and a better set up. read more
