On a nice sunny day this pier area offers terrific scenery of New Jersey (Hoboken & Jersey City across the water). Plenty of seating with benches and other structures along the way. There is a Science Playground which is a great place to take the kids. Kayaking, green areas, a City Vineyard for food/drinks, and a dog run park too. Great spot to enjoy and relax.

There was hardly anyone there - why would anyone go there in the middle of winter? But I think this may be my most favorite time to visit this part of NYC. This peaceful area is a popular spot for relaxing and picnicking. It also offers some of the Park's best fall foliage viewing, with red maples, sweetgums, and willows along the shoreline displaying spectacular color. The Pool's proximity to the Park's northern woodlands and the presence of water also makes the area a great spot for viewing birds and other wildlife. There's a lot of other Central Park sites in this area that I visit frequently. I'm a fan of this serene location. I suggest you visit!

I pass it all the time during my training runs around the park loop, and will many times stop here for a rest. Conservatory Water is a charming ornamental pond in Central Park, famous for model boating, hidden…read moresculptures, and a rich 19th‑century history. The pond's name comes from a planned glass conservatory for tropical plants that was part of the 1857 Greensward Plan by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. The conservatory was never built, but the "hard‑edged" reflecting pool was, and it became the pond we know today. When Central Park was created in the mid‑1800s, hardy water lilies grew wild in the mud, while delicate varieties were wintered in the park's conservatory. Later, the pond was reshaped into the model boat pond we see now. The pond's water originally came from the Sawkill stream, which once flowed through the area toward the East River, via the Ramble and Lake. Children have been sailing here for over 150 years, inspired by similar ponds in Paris and London. Today, you can rent radio‑controlled or wind‑powered boats from the Kerbs Memorial Boathouse. The pond's edge is home to Alice in Wonderland and Hans Christian Andersen statues, popular with kids and art lovers.

There's a beautiful bridge that connects to Dumbo and the piers below. Not sure if this is technically part of the park - but the walkway and landscaped parks below Squibb Park are the real highlight of this area. There's also a public restroom here, and across the street is Hillside Dog Park (one of Brooklyn's largest dog parks) along with a playground for kids.

"We fell in love down at the pier, Soon we were sharing a…read morebeer" (Blondie) The North 5th Street Pier and Park was a wonderful oasis of sights and sounds all wrapped up in three relaxing acres on the East River waterfront. Gorgeous views and interesting sights can be seen in every direction: the river, the North Williamsburg NYC Ferry terminal (where we saw a ferry lumber in backwards to rendezvous at the dock), lovely views of the Manhattan skyline and Williamsburg Bridge, high rise apartments, public art in the form of the Crescendo sculpture, piers, cobblestone walkways, wooden boardwalks, and benches are everywhere. You'll also see trees, grass lawns and artificial lawns for you and your dogs to enjoy. Speaking of dogs, we saw dozens of friendly dogs and their human companions. All of the dogs were leashed, and we struck up a few fun conversations with their owners. We also saw plenty of families out for an invigorating stroll on the brisk Sunday morning we were there.

When my daughter was growing up I enjoyed taking her to the discovery center in any city I lived in. Now I live near this Discovery Center in Central Park. It's a decent walk from my apartment with my friends and their children. First we check online to see the schedule of activity and the hours of operation. With the pandemic going on most activity is remote. Typically there's fun filled educational opportunities for all ages. The atmosphere is always joyful and the employees knowledgeable and helpful. There's not much more to add. I'd advise you plan a visit if you're nearby. This Harlem Meer area of Central Park is one of my favorites. It's the perfect location for a Discovery Center.

Situated at the far northern point of the park on the banks of the Harlem Meer this structure hosts some wonderful live music events during the summer season. Having been there on a few occasions it makes for a relaxing time to sit under the shade while listening to world music and local musicians. This educational center is a spot to attend different programs during the year, and you can also rent fishing rods for catch and release fun in the Meer during fishing season. There are plenty of benches and places to sit at to enjoy the view along the Meer and around the center. Decently clean bathrooms can also be found in the Dana Center. Mostly locals come here which is nice as it never seems overly crowded with tourists. It's also close to some great spots to eat a few minutes away up in Harlem.

We went to Citarella, got a bunch of ingredients to make our own charcuterie board, and just had a DAY. I'm at the age now where my parents are more friends than parents, which is a beautiful phase of life. We dug into our build-your-own charcuterie and people watched, took naps, and just enjoyed each other's company.
