Turning Wheels is a great brewery in Mabolo, Cebu City, Cebu. Their taps offer some of the best microbrew selections in the city - IPA, Pale Ale, Porter, Okell's, Bushy's, Gooseneck, Hooded, Ram... they even have Growlers for your takeaway party. (And sometimes, they offer a delicious sangria - not often, though.) There are a few food choices but mostly, it's about the beer. Follow them on FaceBook to keep up with the selection and events. The place itself is a couple of shipping containers that have been put to unique, creative use. Its rustic appeal satisfies basic brew comfort with outdoor or indoor seating but mostly everyone just sits outside. They definitely have a crew of regulars that are pretty friendly and from all reaches of the globe. The owners and staff are awesome, too. I travel back and forth from San Francisco to Cebu for work and always manage to hit Turning Wheels a few times each trip. It's conveniently located one street over from one of my favorite chicken places, Iamik's Chicken and Beer. :-) And doubly convenient since I sometimes stay in Mabolo Garden Flats (though not this trip...). So anyway, I think you get the point. If you're a craft beer connoisseur and don't need luxury surroundings, Turning Wheels should be on your "Cebu Must Try" list. I visited this spot for the first time recently, and I'm already planning my next trip back! The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, and while I would've loved to see a Lager on the menu, their current beer selection is still impressive. The food was equally standout. One thing I really appreciated was the volume of the music--it was audible enough to enjoy but low enough that we could hold a comfortable conversation. This is my first time here. Decent crowd and great tasting craft beer. There is ample parking space and sooo many things to tinker on so definitely nobody's gonna get bored. I'm definitely coming back. read more
