    Fish Fry!!!
    Edward B.

A fishing trip to Black Lake without stopping in for the Friday night fish fry at Turner Inn just wouldn't be right. This place is a perfect blend of locals and travelers with everyone exchanging fist stories. Through in a good beer list and a super fish fry and you have the makings of a perfect night up in Black Lake.

Delicious food and great environment! The fish fry is by far the best I've had. The service is also wonderful and reasonably priced.

We asked, and they've only been open two weeks! It's a lovely English style pub with tin-looking walls and dark furniture - everything is new and tidy. There are booths to sit at, a long bar, and high tables near the window, so there are some nice seating options. We tried the cream of carrot and ginger (soup of the day) and it was outstanding. I tried the sandwich of the day, a roast chicken with caramelized onions on 'mediterranean' bread, which was a simple white bread with some bits of kalamata olives in it, I think. I had an option of fries, salad, or potato salad, and went for the salad, which was a pile of lovely fresh greens with a creamy balsamic on top. Another of us had the chicken leek casserole which was huge and tasty. With some tricky to find imports on tap like Newcastle brown and Old Speckled Hen, we really felt like we'd stumbled into a nice example of a UK pub in Brockville. They have a bunch of premium and imported options for beer on tap plus a reasonable wine list. Worth a stop!

It was our last night of vacation and my MIL wanted to treat everyone to dinner. My wife had found…read morethis place before we came up and had wanted to try them out so we chose tonight to go. We were seated fairly quickly inside with a nice view of the outside and the water. Our waitress did explain the specials for the evening however didnt seem to be sure if the one was broiled or fried. We ordered drinks and while looking at the menu noticed it was different from the menu on their website. The paper menu had just been updated 1 week ago. I attempted to order their French onion soup, only to be told they didnt have it. Kind of surprising for a place that is only open a few days a week. I then tried to order the Tennessee Chicken, only to be told that they didn't have the spices for it and it wouldn't be good without that. So I quickly skimmed the menu since I was the last in our party to order and went with the salmon. When our food came out everyones food seemed lukewarm, not hot, like it had been sitting for a bit for service. Everything food wise was OK, but definitely not worth the almost $180 bill for the 4 of us. Also I hate to talk poorly about service, but our waitress just seemed lost. Other tables were trying to get her attention and either didnt hear them or what but they waited a while to get what they needed also. Our hopes for a nice, enjoyable dinner our last night in town were dashed. We will more than likely return to the area next year, but unfortunately will not return to Ella's.

Service: We waited 10 minutes then decided to get our own drinks. Met our waitress at the bar and…read moreshe took the order. If we'd have placed the order at the bar we would have been at our table much sooner than it took our waitress to arrive. We placed our order and I asked for a water. Again after a significant amount of time I went to the bar and got my own water. When our meals came they were tasty, but not very warm.NEVER did our waitress return to check on us. We again went to the bar to check out. We asked the bartender who was very helpful if our waitress was new as we noticed the other waitress being very efficient serving her 2 tables, one a table of 7. We also noticed there were only 4 tables occupied during our entire stay. Summary Poor service, good, but not hot temperature wise food and a very helpful bartender.
