I had the unfortunate experience of hiring this company for lawn mowing, snowplowing and fixing up…read moremy landscaping beds. I was very disappointed in their quality of work and professionalism. In my opinion it was a very bad experience. They were supposed to trim all my bushes and trees. They forgot to trim several of them and the others were done haphazardly. They ripped out flowers that were perennials because they thought they were weeds. Many areas were missing weed barrier, even though it was in the contract. The company admitted that the job needed more mulch, but because they underbid the job and was losing money, they would not provide any more mulch. They also admitted that their workers were new and not properly trained. In my opinion they harassed us for more money because they could not estimate the job properly. The owner continously told us of a toll bill for $1800 he owed to gain our sympathy. The owner assured us that he had arborists working for him but this statement appears to be false looking at the completed project. For snowplowing, they had to be constantly called and asked when they were coming out. The company provided an expired certificate of insurance to trick me into signing a contract. They tried to tell me that a car insurance certificate would be just as good. I have a copy of the car insurance certificate the company gave me. This company has had numerous people complain about their snowplowing service, but they delete all of their negative comments and 1 star reviews off of their social media pages. This company was hired by my elderly neighbor to cut her grass. She is 90 years old and has a hard time seeing and hearing. She paid them a lot of money. They rarely show up to cut her grass. They never even provided her with a receipt for her money or a contract. Her family had to get involved to help her. They refused to bag the grass clippings after they cut my lawn even though the contract stated they would. The grass looked atrocious with all the loose grass on it. The company canceled my contract and wanted to give it to his friend. He was going to pay him a fraction of what I paid him and keep the rest for himself. The pictures submitted with this review is how this company actually left my lawn. When I explained to them that is was unacceptable they proceeded to cancel my grasscutting contract. Most businesses when they get negative reviews they get upset and do everything in their power to have the reviews removed. Instead businesses should look at the negative reviews as a learning tool to improve their business and their employees. People really do not want to put down local businesses but they most certainly do not want to be taken advantage of. In response to the owner's comments: The fictitious accusations that this company has made instead of responding to the actual problems with his company should tell you everything you need to know about who you would be hiring

Everyday we listen and view the calm burbling brook and the antics of our little aquatic friends. We hired them this year to do an almost complete landscaping renual in our backyard....I didn't realize "landscaping" in their name didn't mean just Lawn Service. Some small gardens had gone wild..ground cover was out of control, some slate garden edging was completely lost in the overgrown weeds. They brought a little machine and several ambitious helpers to collect and stack the lost slate, they saved and took care not to damage the plantings we hoped to keep. Everything on our list was addressed to the Tee. They planted several new fruit trees we found they had in stock and at a local nursery. Tore out some stubborn old shrubs in front of the house we didn't know what to do with. They also took care of some old stumps the previous tree service left. I can't express fully how thrilled we are with the work. They showed up on time, they worked all day, the men were engaged, they took care to listen to our opinions and offered creative options to where the plantings would look best and how to care for them after. If I could I would rate them 7 out of 5 stars. Our backyard suddenly seems 1000 sq feet bigger... Well done Arbordale!! Thank you!

When I talked to John the owner, he offered me 1 5 foot pine tree. When I mentioned that wouldn't fill in the bare space left by his mistake, and that I wanted the open space filled in. With whatever would cover the area he suggested I call an attorney and walked away from me. I've since filed BBB, CFPB, NYS Attorney general, and complaints with Erie County. Next step is court. I just want this man to fix his mistakes. Let's see what a judge has to say. Anyone looking for work done might wanna look somewhere else.

That included careful gathering of ground materials in yard and street clean-up. Landscaping crew arriving the following day were also impressed with such a neat and thorough job compared to what they frequently encounter from other companies. Have used Hoppy's before at family properties and will always call them first in the future.

Recently I had them out to remove a maple tree that had been growing into power lines and my driveway. They came right out, looked at the tree and promptly wrote a very reasonable quote. Within a week or so they came and began work. They did a great job except they left all the stump grindings all over the sidewalk, lawn and driveway. Plus a huge mound where the tree had been. What the heck am I supposed to do with that? Luckily I was having the driveway ripped out and that company was very accommodating and helped me remove the debris. Additionally it was brought to my attention and later confirmed that they had no business working near power lines! They are not insured for that! Ask questions and get the facts. For the next project I gave my business elsewhere.

After speaking with Nicholas (the owner), he gave us a quick and reasonable price. He he explained our options and even told us a tree that we thought needed to come down would probably bounce back after other dead trees around it were removed. He could have easily made some extra money by taking it down but was more concerned with saving a tree. We really appreciated that. The work took a day and a half to finish though they were also working next door so may have actually taken less time. This included removal of 1 tree, major trimming of 2 trees, both that were hanging on our roof, and the removal of a large pile (a real mess) of old wood piled in our yard. They completed the job beyond of satisfaction! The yard was left cleaner than when they started and even trimmed a couple extra branches on other trees without us asking. The entire crew was hard working, very conscious, neat, polite, and friendly. I would highly, with no hesitation, recommend them to anyone needing this type of work. Then I saw a sign on a neighbors lawn for Irish Landscaping and Grass Cutting. Their yard looking wonderful and it wasn't a huge property. So I asked them for the phone number and figured I had nothing to loose. I called and left a message and Scott Brennan, the owner, called me back promptly. I explained that I had seen him doing my neighbors lawn and would he give me an estimate to do mine? He was incredibly efficient. He came out and checked the yard with my permission and left me a quote in my mailbox. I found his quote very reasonable and signed up right away. He started coming and cutting the lawn and his employee did all the edging. Now he was doing two houses across from each other like clockwork and doing excellent work. Then my neighbors, after seeing the job he did on my yard, asked for his number and contacted him for a quote for their yard too! Well they signed up and now he's doing three houses again like clockwork and edging and cleaning up. I must say that it's difficult to find that quality of business man anymore. As had been my experience, prior to meeting Scott nobody wanted to bother with our streets in Amherst, but Scott is a hard working man who doesn't look down at jobs. It seems to me that he's making as much as those businesses who didn't have the time for us, because we are all three side by side, simple jobs that he doesn't even have to move his truck to do.
