I just got off the phone with the receptionist, and unfortunately, it was an incredibly…read moredisappointing experience. She was extremely rude and repeatedly cut me off while I was trying to explain the reason for my call. I mentioned that I had been a previous patient of an APRN who worked there years ago. Before I could continue, she abruptly cut me off to say, "We don't do prescriptions here." I replied that I wasn't calling about prescriptions, but she still insisted, in a dismissive tone, "Well, I'm just letting you know because the APRN was able to do that." I repeated that prescriptions were not why I was calling. I explained that I was looking for a PCP with a holistic approach and wanted to know whether my insurance would be compatible, attempted to explain about my insurance. Again, she cut me off, saying, "We're not a PCP and don't sign off on anything for insurance." Once more, this was not what I was asking. I finally had to say, "If you let me explain, I'd appreciate it." But at that point, I told her that if this was the experience I was receiving over the phone, I would take my family and myself elsewhere. This was honestly shocking. I'm sure many of the other employees are wonderful, and I was looking forward to the possibility of becoming a patient again. However, this interaction alone completely changed my mind. Because of her behavior, I will absolutely be looking elsewhere for care.

The woman I spoke with was very rude telling me i never had a payment plan previously or made a payment. Asked for a manager to share the bad experience as well as ask some questions about the bill break down. Instead the same woman called me back and left me a VM stating there is nothing anyone will do for me left collections number (which she already provided) Called back again a month later spoke with someone who made my appt told me to set up a payment plan on the web. Sent a message to the doctor about a question for my up coming MRI that needed to be done. Was hoping to have it done before my $250 visit with her so i can have more information for our visit and had a question about her thoughts on contrast. And instead they cancelled my appt . Without my knowledge ( that i requested time off work for) Told me they don't have any other medical advice for me . Didn't even call me with a payment option or advising what needed to be paid prior to cancelling. Called back in asked for the manager again who then had her employee call me back to tell she is too busy and she doesn't believe the other rep would've ever been rude to me because she knows her personally (even though the calls are recorded) not willing to pull the call or resolve . This would be the second person essentially accusing me- Visits are booked out longer& at this point because of the horrible customer service i don't even want an appt here and will take care of the balance with collections instead of through them. All of this while dealing with several serious health issues! Major communication issue here! Horrible customer service- will miss Dr Burkman, sometimes people fall on hard times and paying out of pocket can be hard temporarily!

As such he does not accept health insurance and his office visits can be rather expensive when one has to pay out of pocket for the entire visit. He does spend a good amount of time listening to his clients, as compared to traditional medical doctors. Since he cannot prescribe medication, he will sell you his own private label vitamins and supplements as well as a "healthy" diet. Because he cannot prescribe FDA approved medicines, my results are mixed using supplements and diet. Overall I feel better, but the specific issue I went to him for remains unresolved. I needed to make a follow up appointment per her request for something she was concerned about. She gave me some papers I'd need from her to have a few things done like blood work, and I was on my way!! The appointment took about an hour and I sincerely feel positive! Marie Monticciolo, MD has been my primary care physician for several years. Both her and her…read morehusband (Richard Monticciolo, MD) run an internal medicine practice where one on one patient care is not seen as an inconvenience but as an integral part of their treatment philosophy. Prior to initiating treatment with Dr. Monticciolo, I was treated with several physicians through Hartford Medical Group. However, I was finding it increasingly hard to get an appointment, and once I did I found that I spent longer in the waiting room than actually having a consult with my physician. Many times I was not even seen by an M.D. but his or her PA. Regardless of who saw me, half the appointment was spent reviewing my medical history before getting to why I was actually there. I felt that I was a co-pay and not a patient and upon that realization I knew it was time for a change. Since I have begun to see Dr. Monticciolo, I have ALWAYS been treated by her. The practice is small (just her and her husband) and there is not a lot of frills to their office. You will not find your medical records stored electronically or fancy diagnostic tools, but what you will find is a doctor that knows her patients, is willing to talk (yes - talk) with them in her office before the examination, and refer you to another physician if she feels it is necessary. My medical records may be handwritten but I know that they have all been meticulously written by Dr. Monticciolo who - from the routine wellness visit to more serious matters - will give me sound medical advice and excellent patient care.
