Nunhead, the forgotten realm between Peckham and East Dulwich…read more Nunhead, the little village that has one of the best fishmongers in London and an authentic bakery that people travel miles to experience Nunhead, the village that actually sits in Zone 2 and nobody has heard of Nunhead, the village that has exploded in popularity beyond all belief in the past 2 years if the number of middle class working people getting off the train here at rush hour is anything to go by! When I moved here 2 years ago, it was still the outlands, uncharted territory for many. The Thameslink stops here on its way to Blackfriars and City Thameslink stations, making it a prime location for a lot of commuters who are looking for a bit more for their money in terms of housing. And a lot of people have picked u on this, they have started to come here in their droves. The station itself is quite small and unassuming, it has a little shop on the platform that serves up drinks, coffee, a few cereal bars etc. but is pretty dark and depressing if I'm honest. Other parts of the station have just had a major clean up however - a lick of paint, tended garden areas, holes in the roof patched up, and is really starting to be a decent station. The four star review is mainly for the fact it is in Zone 2, has good access into the city (Victoria, Farringdon, Kings Cross etc.) and gives access to housing at a price you can't really find anywhere else in Zone 2.
