Great service from our server and the host! They were flexible and accommodating for our large party and stayed late. They had perfect and fair-priced margaritas, and really good food. We loved the ceviche and tamales in particular. It's so rare to find seafood in Arkansas so this place is a gem. Can't wait to go back! Ok the service was good, she was new, but she got answers and was kind. We were eating outside and needed to flag her down a few times for water refills. No one at our table wanted cocktail refills small and basic average. Food was a one star for me! To me personally there is nothing worse than a $250 bill for 4 people to eat, and the portions were so small I opened the refrigerator door as I got home. The couple we were with said they enjoyed the dinner. But I found the food basic and flavorless. The ambiance was nice outside a space heater was helpful. The carne asada was cooked well and the 5 jumbo shrimp was so nice with a warm bed of tomato onion avocado salsa. It was my first time eating a warm salsa and it was so good!! I was a little disappointed that the surf and turf didn't have the fried plantains and the server was super nice and got me a side! Tula is THE PLACE to go in downtown Fayetteville for a nice and delicious dinner. It is a small intimate restaurant right off of the Fayetteville square. I would recommend reservations because we went last minute on a Friday night and were seated right away (super easy process). The drinks: I had the Fuego (mango lime pineapple and jalapeño tequila) - incredible! Even had chipotle salt on the rim! My boyfriend got the Loma and also liked, but the Fuego was the favorite. Worth the splurge. The starter: we got the queso fundito which is different than any queso I've ever had - it was more of a bowl of solid cheese that you break apart, served with fresh tortillas to roll it up in. I'm more of a traditional queso fan, but it was a fun twist. The dinner: worthy of the five stars - we both got carne asada, and my boyfriend got the surf and turf with the shrimp added. I've never had such GOOD skirt steak!! For something so flat it was SO well cooked, juicy on the inside and perfectly seasoned!! Mine came with rice, bacon pinto beans (in a little tortilla bowl), and fried plantains. I also added a side of guacamole which went so well with the steak flavor & was so good. The dessert: we got the Tres Leches cake which was presented beautifully. It is somewhat of a smaller piece of cake, but tasted wonderful! Great dining experience, and a must visit when in the area. We were driving from Bentonville so I put ourselves on the list. When we arrived there were two gentleman at the hostess stand and we approached them and stated who we were. The service was great, the drinks were excellent, the atmosphere was nice, although I thought the choice of music seemed a little unusual for a Mexican restaurant although it was still enjoyable. We were met quickly by our server who was very polite and professional, he made the dinner much more enjoyable. I started with the Ceviche which came with chips. It had quite a bite to it but was very good with great flavors. I then had the Cochinita Pibil - slow roasted and marinated pork shoulder with beans and habanero sauce The pork and the gravy it was in was once of the best dishes I have ever had at a restaurant. The pork was so tender, the marinade was incredible and it was a sizeable portion. I cannot say enough about this. The beans were fairly bland and the habanero sauce was way more than I could eat. My wife had the Arroz a la Tumbada, a paella style seafood medley and it too was very good and a sizeable portion. I really wanted to try a dessert but I was just to full at this time. We've been trying restaurants in the area that show up in my husband's Open Table feed. So happy to say, Tula did not disappoint. We had excellent service, great food, and an overall perfect experience. We started with the chicken verde tamales. And I enjoyed a Casa Tula. The drink was one of the smoothest I've had. It didn't hit me until after we were done with the tamales, but was so good I made sure to order another with my meal. My husband ordered the carne asada, and I had the asada tacos al carbon. Absolutely great spot for a unique take on Mexican cuisine. This is not your average Tex-mex joint. Tula offers unique, modern take on a lot of dishes you'd see in various parts of Mexico. The cochinita pibil is simply delicious. The waitress told me it was one of their most recommended, so I took her word for it. I was blown away. The small plates and appetizers are very well done. The guacamole is extraordinary, and when paired together with the trio appetizer, it's hard to beat. The Aztec soup is very light yet full of robust flavor of something similar to a tortilla soup, but not quite. It is it's own thing. Went there on Cinco de Mayo thinking that it would be a fun experience and a good place for Margherita's. The space does have a cool vibe to it. We arrived around 5 and there were only two other tables seated. Our waitress showed up quickly and was very sweet and informative. We ordered two different margaritas and some Queso & chips for an appetizer (the dip and chips had to be ordered separately.) We watched the bartender chatting and looking at phone pics with someone seated at the bar while we waited about 15 minutes to get two drinks- one of which was the wrong drink. Neither got a thumbs up from either of us- okay, but not memorable in any way. Our queso and chips came after the drinks , but before the corrected drink was served. The dip had so much of the chili sauce in it that it was more liquid than cheesy. It barely stuck to the chips. The chips were fine. Our food arrived about 10 minutes later- lukewarm including the soup. Flavor was good, but not exceptional. Nothing I would recommend. I have been here twice, because it is pricey (rightfully so) and we go to Tula as a treat. For starters, the ceviche is devine. The cocktails are super fun and while I knew dishes aren't the most important aspect of a meal, they had the coolest glasses and cups. Every dish we have tried has been *chef's kiss* incredible. Like, if I could steal the recipes, I would. But I can't cook anyways so I wouldn't want to ruin it. Top it all off, the staff is friendly and quick. My water glass was never empty and they let me ask question after question about the meals.
