Easily overlooked, hidden just off, Potsdamer Strasse, in a side street called Großgörschenstrasse, you will find this gem of an Indonesian Restaurant. On the outside Tuk Tuk has a rickety bamboo façade and on the inside I would best describe it as having this sort of dated charm about it with a bit of shabbiness village feel thrown in. Almost showing my age here! The restaurant is divided into little rooms so you have an even chance of an intimate setting regardless of the numbers in your party. When we were there, the place was surprisingly full with customers of all ages. The family sitting nearby seemed like regulars as the kids knew exactly what they wanted and how spicy they did or did not want their food. What can I say the food is delicious! There are so many Asian restaurants out there quintessentially serving the same stuff...not here! I started off with a rose flavoured drink with lychees, only because it sounded interesting and I was curious as to how it might taste. It was surprisingly good, I half expected an over perfumed beverage. Thankfully not! For starters we went with the Orange Chicken off the 'specials' menu (sorry I can't remember the price of that dish) and the Rissoles (€4) filled with a chicken ragout and vegetables. Both were appetizing, the orange sauce was really good... I mean it was an orange sauce, something I never really get too excited about but have to say this was thumbs up situation. I followed this with Rawon Black Beef (€10) which wasn't as dark as I had envisioned, I imagined it to be black as night, but my over active imagination gave way to a melt in your mouth beef dish steeped in a rich brown spicy sauce so I was easily appeased. We also had a stir fried vegetable salad as a side dish... pretty average nothing special there otherwise I found the food totally agreeable. It suited my bf's palette too. He really liked the different lingering flavours of his Bebek Sayur Lodeh, which was duck in spicy chilli and coconut milk, also for around €10. He even remarked that he would definitely have that again and he doesn't get as excited about food as I do! First of all I have to say the interior design of the restaurant is really nice. Very unique and Asian like. It's a cool place to hang out. And the service here is also great. People are really friendly. My friend was a big fan of Indonesian kitchen. He was here for visiting me. so I brought him here. I never tired Indonesian food before anyway. So I ordered a dish with pawns.(see the pic below) It tasted really nice, but somehow feel like something is missing. The taste was a bit to light to me personal. Well, my friend he said he like it and that's the original taste from Indonesia. ( he has been there before). I was happy that he enjoyed it. :) Zunächst muss ich sagen, dass mir das Design des Restaurants sehr gefällt. Ich finde es sehr besonders und asiatisch. Es ist eine nette Lage, um mit Freunde zusammen zu sein. Es gibt auch guten Service und nette Leute. Ein Freund hat mich hier besucht. Er ist ein Fan der indonesischen Küche. Solid four star. The service was a bit slow and the draught beer was a bit off. Prices were pretty good (for european standards, i would think). Some guy on yelp just a day before has commented "he has had better in the Netherlands" - which is an obvious lie. The only thing marginally better is in Indonesia. This was as good as i have had in jkt and bali. Id say even better than i have had at cafe garuda (in jkt). Delicious Indonesian food in my old, Kleistpark-Kiez. Decor seemed interesting/authentic- but I've never been to Indonesia- so can't really judge. The room is dimly lit (nice for laid back date & flattering lighting for the girls..lol) & pretty packed- was lucky to get a seat spontaneously. Side note: I really disliked the ugly-carpeting.,,but if you've been to my apartment, I should just stfu. Lol But I digress... The service was pretty friendly. As it was packed, it did take quite some time to get our food. But i REALLY think offering some kind of light snack for free, like Krupuk chips, nuts, or something Indonesian... would not be too much to ask. Especially when you wait so long for even your drink to arrive. My date & I were ready to eat our own arms waiting for our dishes, because we arrived at the restaurant starving..lol. Drinks... I chose a pink rose lychee milk drink, which was thankfully not as sweet as it looked (BUBBLEGUM pink milk...lol). It tasted great and the 3-4 whole, pitted lychees in the bottom of the glass, were a nice touch. I'd order it again, but as a semi-light dessert, post meal. My date had a beer. What can I say... It was cold & good. Lol While I liked my l beef randang dish/ and my date & I really enjoyed his (very) spicy duck plate, I have to say they the chicken soup appetizer stole the show for me. It wasn't prepared like generic, Asian-inspired chicken soup you may get at everyday Imbisses or Restaurants. The lemongrass & Spices were just wholesome & delicious in this curry-yellow, slightly oily (not gross-oily, prob mostly from the boiled chicken) soup..The "novelty" got me were the nut-chip flakes (Nussbaum chips), sprinkled on top is the soup - giving a slight peanutty flavor to it. I just wish the soup was bigger (but, hey...for an Appetizer, can't really complain..,). We also had ordered a beef filled, fried pastry appetizer. Crunchy, good enough... Nothing special... But definitely not bad. Prices are reasonable & I'd go back if I'm craving good soup or a spicy duck dish. Enjoy! read more

This was such a great find. The first time I came there were only two other tables seated, so not only was the service fast, but the chef came out to talk to everyone and make sure everything was fine. The three tables of Indonesians, Germans, and Americans unanimously agreed that the food was fantastic. Particularly delicious were the Rendang and Sambal Chicken. Both were nicely spicy (which isn't always easy to find in Germany) and very well cooked. While it might be somewhat out of the way, it's well worth the trip and easily one of my new favorite places in the city. read more

Great indonesian food. Awesome service, very friendly and worth for those who want to broaden their taste pallets. Many options of tasty indonesian traditional cuisine, my favorite one is the sambel matah dish and gado gado. The ambience is also very cozy and comfy. Decorations are full with indonesian cultures, very authentic and shows some history of indonesians. Def recommended! read more

Living nearby, we come here regularly. It has a wonderfully cozy atmosphere, very decent Indonesian food (being Dutch, I can judge somewhat) and it's usually pretty quiet so no need to book. Great choice for a spontaneous evening out. read more

Pleasent surprise. After coming around the corner from Potsdamerstrasse, walking into Großgörschenstr and entering this restaurant, you will find yourself at the island of Java. The interiour and paintings are lovely and it'll really gives you the feeling you're not eating at yet another asian restaurant. Foodwise: Portions are sufficient and the taste of the ingredients is fresh and lovely. The service is most friendly and serves at normal speed. I will defintaly come back here and advise my friends to go here. read more
