A part of tradition! We love Tucson and we love Color Me Mine. Last time we visited we had a little…read morehiccup shipping our order. BUT the owner made it right and wrote us a personal note and made sure we received the special painted items. This time we are shipping our items again because we are only here for 2.5 days and they need about a week to glaze your items. Employees: Toby and Alyssa are amazing!!!! They helped us so much and with such cheer! What a fun experience! Thank you Color Me Mine for being a special part of our lives! We painted 7 items and spent a pretty penny. Studio fee separate. BUT, you don't even have to stand up to get your own paint! Worth it!

I do feel like they could do a better job explaining as they don't explain the random sponge on your table and they also do not walk around to see when you need to refills as we had to call them every time to get refills, which at times felt like they were bothered by. Anyway, we got there when it opened at 11am on a Saturday and within 40 minutes it really started filling up. They even had to turn away some people so I would definitely suggest making reservations when you want to go. I wish the colors were more expansive, however they have enough to get the job done. The colors look very different painting than they do when they dry so you have to just take their word for it when they say it appears as a different color once completed! Very cute, artistic and creative spot !

We ran into a few bumps at the beginning of our visit. They couldn't find our reservation even…read moreafter we showed our confirmation email. This wasn't just us, several people in our class had the same issue, and they had to call the owner to sort everything out before we could start. They also mentioned that we could bring our own drinks, which sounded great, but I wouldn't recommend it for the wheel-throwing class. We didn't open our wine as no cups were provided but there was also no time during the class to drink it. That said, our instructor, Callum, was amazing! Truly hands-on, patient, and made sure everyone left with a piece they were proud of, whether they chose to keep it or not. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend this specific class for out-of-towners. If you want to keep your piece, the process takes about a month. First firing, then returning to paint, then a second firing. You also pay separately for any pieces you choose to keep and paint. Our class was $35 per person, and it's $20 per piece for firing if you plan to come back and paint it. It's a commitment, but also two fun experiences if you're local or don't mind returning. Overall, I'm taking off one star due to our specific experience with their wheel throwing activity, but I still think the concept of this place is great, and I look forward to coming back to paint my piece as well as to try a different activity!

Do not go here. I…read moreattended what was advertised as an "Introduction to Clay" class for beginners -- specifically for people who have never touched clay. I brought my stepdaughter, and we were both really excited for a supportive, welcoming learning experience. Instead, we walked into something completely different. Nan, the instructor, seemed unaware of why new people had been showing up for the past two years. No actual class took place. She briefly walked us around the studio, gave a quick 10-minute demo, and then left us entirely on our own. When we tried to ask questions, she was passive-aggressive, dismissive, and made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. It was clear the environment was geared toward experienced potters, not beginners. The class was supposed to run from 10am to 1pm, but there was no structured instruction at all. Everyone else in the room knew exactly what they were doing, while we were left confused and ignored. For $90 USD, this was incredibly disappointing. My stepdaughter and I had been looking forward to learning -- instead, we felt talked down to, unsupported, and eager to leave. If you're a beginner or hoping for an actual class, I strongly recommend going elsewhere.

There is a lot of weirdness in this place. I used the open studio here about a year ago, and…read moreliterally no one spoke to me when I came in. When I needed to know how things worked, I had to ask around. The guy working there had a hard time paying attention to me and didn't seem to want to talk to me. Pretty rude. Meanwhile, there is this tense undercurrent, that you can hear in whispers and people talking about how the women are treated by the management. I was told about a few different instances by people just in there throwing pots that seemed like they were really denigrating to women. Then one time the "manager" (I don't know if he was, but that's what someone told me) started yelling at someone. I don't know why anyone stays there, but I wasn't going to, especially after they were rude to me repeatedly. I found Tucson Parks and Rec to feel like a lot more of a peaceful place.
