It was a simple question about how to code the Schedule D form. All she would say us how busy she was and to make an appointment after the tax due date. Several years ago, I had entered into a business deal with Mr Lister, after my tax business partner had passed away. I was the silent partner. My partner's son inherited his portion of the business and we placed the business up for sale. Mr. Lister, the owner, contacted us and we sold the business to him "as is" at an agreed amount. It was agreed to let him make payments to pay the due balance. In the beginning, payments were made as agreed, but after only paying about half, then he decided the business was not worth the agreed amount. In the end, he discontinued making any more payments on the remaining balance (about $40k) and kept client listings and physical property.

I used Tanya for many years until two consecutive years where I ended up owing the IRS thousands. When I questioned it and asked her to review the returns, she assured me everything was correct. I then went to another tax office, and they found numerous mistakes. When I asked Tanya to amend the taxes, she refused and only sent an email saying she disagreed with the amendments and claimed I hadn't furnished all documents, which is false since I have all the emails. I highly recommend using someone else a lot of the stuff we asked for to claim she said we could not which in return we could, which could've saved us a lot of money. Because of the refusal to even amend our taxes or to even communicate with us by phone to let us know what was even wrong, I would not even give it a one star find a different tax preparation company do not if all possible !!!!

TL;DR: Business owners should avoid TTA unless you already know everything about bookkeeping,…read moretaxes, and you're willing to lose $1000s each year. We've been clients of TTA for over 3 years, and given them many (MANY) chances to fix their systems, but when we finally decided to look for another firm to handle our business' bookkeeping, payroll, and taxes, they promptly removed us from their system and refused to process our employees' payroll anymore. Note that we only told them we were looking for another firm, giving them (another) opportunity to do things the right way. Here's a list of the issues over the past 3 years: - Every single year, our taxes have been late. Without fail. Even when we notified them 4 months early that we were looking to buy a house and we needed taxes done on time this year, they still took an extra 2 months - We've lost count of the amount of times payroll was late, which puts a massive strain on us as business owners to tell our employees that (once again) their paychecks would be late - They never processed employee bonuses the first time, promptly ignoring the note in the email we sent AND the space we created on a simple spreadsheet we filled out each time in the column labeled "bonuses" - Despite their promises when we became a client, we never received our quarterly or annual P&L statements, unless we asked for them (and then with a wait of over 6 weeks, our first home loan application was denied due to inactivity; in full disclosure, we were approved in less than 3 weeks from another loan office after the taxes were finally processed). - When the government approved the Employee Retention Credit, TTA advised us to re-do our 2020 taxes to be approved for the credit. This issue is still open, but may have cost us over $30,000, plus the home loan denial mentioned above. - A TTA rep constantly emailed and called us to log into our bank account, download all of our bank statements, log into a secure dropbox, and upload all of the statements there. The process was tedious, but it didn't cause any major issues until we mentioned that another firm does this all directly from the bank, and then the TTA rep told us, "Oh we can do that, too." After so many years of calls and emails that said WE were late. - We never received ANY advice on our bookkeeping or taxes, unless we asked first. - Whenever we brought up something that bothered us, or that we had questions about, they never seemed to 'have time' to sit down and explain things. Conversations were always rushed, handed off to an assistant, or replied with attitude. - As mentioned before, when we went in to ask if they could load all of our info onto a USB, they asked if we were leaving. We specifically said that we were looking for other options. They proceeded to promptly delete all of our accounts, resulting in our employees not getting paid. When confronted, they replied with, "Your demeanor implied that..." A professional business would never run off of implications and assumptions. We have no doubt that TTA handles individual clients well, but we would NOT recommend choosing them for your business accounts.
