I went here with my check engine light flashing, a signal to us all bad things are going to happen if you don't get to a mechanic right now. I came in and dropped my car off and in a matter of MINUTES I was in and out the door. Brownie point 1 They did my diagnostic and got a code that could mean a lot of different things were going on with my engine and they worked to figure out the problem at NO CHARGE. Brownie 2 They called me even after they were closed to let me know what was going on because they knew I was anxious. BROWNIE 3 He originally quoted me at $765 and when I called back the next day and asked for a little bit more of a discount, he gave me one. ONE MILLION BROWNIE POINTS HERE Dropped my car off around 5 pm, picked it up next day around 11 am... By that time they had replaced 6 spark plugs, the coil, and ordered and installed new tires. I mean, is this place heaven? Also, I got the same tires I bought from Costco here for a less expensive price. SCORE. I recommend this place to all people who are looking for a mechanic they can trust 100%

They did this all for free because I had waited two hours for just an oil change! It was because they had a filter but it didn't fit so they had to order the right one to be delivered. I could understand if I had been just a walk-in but I had an appointment for 2:30 which I had made two days ago, so it seems they would make sure what they needed would be there in time for the appointment. Nice to get it no charge, but I had other places I needed to be in the afternoon that I had to cancel.

Other places told me the brake booster replacement would by $600-800 easy, since Joan has a lot of aftermarket goodies on her and is a turbo. Mike Edwards looked the job up and quoted me $400 and something, obviously significantly less. I trusted him as he has taken care of a dear friend's car for years. I thought about giving them 4 stars instead of 5, because, although the mechanic working on my car is very thorough, he takes longer to do this job. I just wasn't prepared to hang about the neighborhood all day, sans wheels, which stretched my patience. Not their fault I didn't plan better! Highly recommend and will send my daughter, if she ever needs work on her Jetta, or anyone else who asks my advice! The job cost $470 including an OEM brake booster, so I'm very happy with the price!!!

Long story short, I needed a whole new window with all the works and they did it for me within 3 hours which included a window chase-down from one end of the valley to the other. Should have cost well into the $1000's but paid significantly less than that . They work with you and your budget and again, I love em. Madie is super helpful and very very resourceful. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!…read more I had taken my previous vehicles to the location in Utah county, and was happy with the service so after moving to SLC when my truck needed work I went to the Salt Lake location. I parked my manual transmission truck in their parking lot, and with an old E-brake, left the car in gear to prevent it from rolling. Upon walking outside a tech followed me out and got in the truck to check mileage. She started the car without checking it was in gear, and floored it directly into the wall of their shop. Instead of stopping, she kept her foot on the gas to the point that she did a burn out with the rear tires. This caused damage to the front bumper of my truck. The manager of the shop called me after the incident to discuss resolution. He offered to either pay for a new bumper, or discount the service by the cost of a bumper. The requested service came out to $3200 before the damage to the bumper. No offer of discounted labor beyond the cost of the bumper. They called a few days later saying they had identified a faulty wheel bearing and quoted over $1,100 to replace. When I told them I'd like to get another quote from a competitor, then the manager offered to do discounted labor on the wheel bearing alone. (Mind you they already were working on an upper control arm on the same side). When again I requested to wait and get another quote he then offered free labor on the wheel bearing alone. Ready to put it to bed I agreed. When I went to retrieve my truck today it was covered in a dried on tacky substance that was not there on drop off. When I asked what it was one of the techs let me know that they had noticed a few weeks ago they had a leaky water heater, and they had decided to leave the truck parked directly under it for days on end. Not a new issue, but a known issue and that I was the lucky customer who got their vehicle parked directly below. Unfortunately this was brought to my attention after I just forked over $4,000. In my experience here's what you can expect from Steve's Automotive Specialists on 2300 E. They will let front desk workers with no understanding of vehicles drive and operate your car in a radically unsafe manner, even post massive mistake they will look to up-charge you at every opportunity, and to top it all off they will treat your property like garbage. This shop charges top tier prices, and gives a horrific customer experience. What a joke! How a shop like this stays open conducting their business this way is shocking. I'd pay double to go to someone else next time.

They recognize us when we call or come in for service, and even if it has been quite awhile since the last time we needed them. We were lucky enough to learn about Edwards Automotive because Matt was recommended enthusiastically to us by a mutual friend about five years ago, and we have never wanted or needed to go anywhere else since. At Edwards I have never felt a minute of that vulnerability people often feel (especially women) when they go to an auto repair place. I don't know anything about car repair, but I am altogether confident that I have never been taken advantage of or upsold or been told that I needed services that were unnecessary at Edwards. Matt is intuitive about honing in on problematic issues, and he doesn't ever suggest superfluous services. He will also let us know when he is not completely sure what is going on with our cars and that he is still figuring it out. A few years ago Matt was able to assess and fix a problem with my Mini Cooper that had actually eluded the folks over at Mini Cooper service. He charged about a third of the price that the well-meaning service people at Mini had charged me (and the problem remained after their service). Just last week, Matt and one of his mechanics stayed two hours after closing so that they could get my daughter's car back to her on a particular day. She was a happy girl! From Matt, to his kind and competent front office admin, to his mechanics, all of the people at Edwards Automotive are just amazing! Thank you, Matt, Kel, and staff for your absolute integrity and kindness and for all of the times you have been so professional, fair, quick, and skilled!
