Always on the hunt for MIC products, I found this company that makes orthopaedic shoes in Alberta. The company started in 1994; their story and the description of their manufacturing process is on the website. Each pair is either has either an oil-rubbed or easy care finish. Now, these are not fashionable shoes - no strappy sandals or stilettos here. At a certain point in life, comfort is more important than la bella figura. Imagine the support and comfort of Birkenstock or Naot, but hand-made in your own country, and less expensive! How can you improve upon that? Oh yeah, it's a family-run business.
During Covid, you need to make an appointment for in-person shopping, or you can shop online. I bought a pair online which arrived within the week. They are super comfy straight out of the box. Came with a nice little note from the owners thanking me for supporting their business. Shipping within Canada is $15 for the first pair, and $5 for each additional pair.
If I could make one suggestion to the proprietors, it would be to make some one-strap and more two-strap styles. I'm not old enough to go for the three-strap style, so I would have liked a larger selection of shoes that didn't absolutely scream "orthopaedic". And they should advertise more; I would have bought from them long ago had I known that MIC shoes were an option. read more
