You simply cannot beat the mortgage rates and service you receive at Trustco Bank. We had never heard of them before moving to Florida in 2016, but we are now in the process of purchasing our second new home (sold the first) through them. We were customers at Trustco in Albany NY about 15 years ago and had a couple accounts with them. Due to a couple bad experiences with them we closed those accounts and went elsewhere. Fast forward and now in Venice Fl, as snowbirds, it seemed very convenient to open accounts with Trustco to have easy access to cash from both locations. We've had nothing but bad attitudes and NO access to any money, even after we see checks have cleared. The managers doesn't return calls and when my wife went in to speak to someone, they were incredibly rude and acted like she had no rights to the account even though we added her to the account the prior week. We showed them that in their own paperwork, we have rights to take a withdraw, but they won't even follow their own procedure and have basically taken our money hostage and have no apologetic attitude for our inconvenience. If you have another bank option..... Please for your own sake, consider anywhere but Trustco.....Venice or probably any of them read more

I applied for a refi on an existing mortgage, an investment property. I was told at the time the paperwork would be minimal. Well, nothing could have been further from the truth. After a seemingly endless request for documents (which I responded to quickly) and 5 months later, I was notified that the time has expired, and I would have to refile and pay a $1,000 late fee. I have been in real estate 30 years, and this is without a doubt the worst, most incompetent service I have encountered. read more

My neighbor suggested I talk to Mark at Trustco on SR41. I am glad I did. Mark is super knowledgeable, not pushy like mortgage brokers and very easy to work with. He not only saved me money with the refinance he was able to cancel my mortgage insurance and save me more money. Best bank I ever worked with. read more

BEWARE: FEES are outrageous and no customer service Although you are told Publix ATMs are free, this is not automatic. You have to call the bank and argue with the rude employees to reverse the fees. Should a charge come in in the intervening time, they assess a fee which they refuse to reverse. They must receive bonuses for the fees clients are charged.And the fees are expensive. High fees and rude employees make for a miserable experience all around., Bank online and avoid the costly fees. read more

In 2018 we needed a mortgage. Our son recommended we go to Trustco because of his knowledge of the Finance world. We are very happy with the assistance received. Mark got everything completed for us. After an unpleasant experience trying to refinance my home with a bank I've been a member of and done business with for 30+ years I remembered hearing a commercial on the radio about the hometown bank Trustco. I decided to stop there on my way home from my disappointing meeting with the bank I belonged to in regards to a refinance on my home. They had told me my refinance was approved but had not told me of the charges they had planned to add to my loan. It was a lot!!! Too much! After meeting with the branch manager at Trustco, Mark Cooper, he told me they could help me and to my surprise the appraisal and loan to refinance was closed in about 3 weeks! I have only the highest praise for my hometown bank, Trustco, and for my favorite banker, Mark Cooper! He is a stand up guy with a heart for people. You never feel like a number when you come to the bank. Everyone treats you so kindly, and if you need to meet with Mark for a loan or any other reason he always takes time with you to let you know how important you are. I have referred many of my friends which have also told me of their great experiences! I always tell them to tell Mark the Kayak lady sent them as he and his wife love to kayak and I love to kayak as well and was something we had talked about while doing the the paperwork of the refinance. I've had great experiences at this bank. Anna is wonderful! A few years ago I got a mortgage, and she actually called me to follow up on something I needed to do so I wouldn't forget. It's nice having the same few people there. With Bank of America (who I also use), I always get a different person and they try to get me to open a new account or get a credit card with them. I don't get that at Trustco. read more

Went to see Trisco for a loan for Florida hurricane victims for repairs and was a debt consolidation lowering our monthly payment by $150 and was told no because of debt ratio which doesn't make sense when it would lower by $150 and they wouldn't give me my Appraisal And try to talk to the branch manager on several occasions and never get a return phone call won't be doing anymore banking with them. Guess they don't really want to help hurricane victims with this loan that was to be meant for that. And say they support there law enforcement customers that aren't true either then that worked there butts off during this storm read more

The bank manager at the Venice location, Mark, is a complete idiot. He does next to nothing to help customers. He has to be someone's relative a little higher up on the chain with this company. The teller at the Venice location, Dalinda, has trouble with the english language and takes money out of the wrong accounts because they have the same last name. The Vice President of the the region Clint, never answered or returned any phone calls after handing me a card while saying, "call me anytime". This bank is a total failure and I would not recommend it to anyone! read more

Good customer service, friendly. Great mortgage products. CD rates could be higher. Need more branches, more ATMs. Website could be better. Manager Mark and Assistant Manager Courtney very helpful. Tellers also very informative. read more
