The only real thing that can set them apart is service. Parks has great service every time I have gone in. This is a very strange bank. They almost seem like they don't want to make any loans at all and…read morereally put you through the ringer. They are owned by Arrow Financial. It is my suspicion that they do more with investments rather than mortgages or consumer loans, and try to deter potential customers from applying to their bank. I have always found them to be rude and suspicious whenever I have applied for any type of loan from them. I have a 760+ Fico score, and asked for a $30,000 equity loan with a home loan to value of less than 65% total including my current mortgage. I applied online and was contacted by a branch manager instead of a loan officer. This branch manager from the main office in Glens Falls told me that she wanted two years of tax returns and w2's before she would even hand it to a loan officer since that is what they required. In addition, a copy of the deed, homeowners insurance, paystubs, etc., were also necessary. I have never heard of a bank asking for w2's AND Tax returns since it is redundant information and a pain to copy tax returns and send them in. I asked her if she looked at my application and could pre-approve the loan request based on the information I provided. She then said that she didn't bother to look at the information and wouldn't until she got the tax returns and w2's and other information since that is what they require. As a mortgage loan originator in a bank for many years, I was shocked at this incompetent level of customer service and this bank's inability to even pre-approve a loan based on information given on an application.

My wife and I secured a construction loan on a foreclosed property that would need a total…read morerenovation. We had to meet an aggressive timeline in order to make our closing date on time. Our real estate agent recommended Loan Officer John Hersey and NBT. That recommendation could not have worked out better. The process required the completion of a lot of paperwork and coordination with lawyers, Insurance Agents, Inspectors and various other individuals involved with the sale. This was complicated further by the fact we live in Atlanta, Georgia and the property is in North River, New York. Only through Mr. Hersey's attention to detail and excellent communication skills were we able to make the closing date on time. I will definitely recommend NBT and specifically Mr. Hersey to anyone who is looking to secure a mortgage.

She was extremely rude and showed no empathy for my sister in law and I during a difficult time. She was extremely unprofessional, and wouldn't help us. She even thought it was funny, and made snarky comments to us. And had the audacity to charge us for bank statements that we needed to figure out his bills.
