A VERY BIG THANK YOU!!! to both Debra & John who helped me get a vehicle loan on a great low APR…read morerate. I'm a current member with the bank next door to them (HVFCU) but I was denied a vehicle loan because of low credit history (even though my score was good). I waited about 1-2 months and sat with a HVFCU representative about my denial and if I should re-apply for the loan, they did not recommend to proceed with the application as it may get rejected again. So I stepped outside and looked to my right... glanced at the MHVFCU and I thought I'll take my chances with this credit union I haven't heard of before. I walked into a very nice, modern, high tech & elegant main lobby and was greeted by friendly smiles. I did not have to wait, and was immediately being assisted by Jonathan who helped me fill & submit my application and mentioned he would get back to me later the same day (which I thought would never happen). The most shocking thing to me is when he called and said that my loan was approved! A few days later I found my dream car and went over to MHVFCU to finalize my loan. I was also in a hurry to get things done but I sat with Debra who professionally went over every detail and made sure I sent her all necessary documents. Then within a matter of minutes, I managed to get a check for the car payment. Debra was amazing, she helped me get what I needed, quick! I'm so glad I walked over to MHVFCU that day. The place is not overly crowded and there's always someone to help and pay special attention to you. Please keep up the great work and high standards.

Recently, I decided to give them another chance because it has been years since I had an account with them. BIG MISTAKE! My husband and I went to the bank and opened a joint account. Everything went fine. I then received a piece of a mail from the bank that had never been sealed. My account number was available to anyone that chose to peak inside the envelope. I immediately called the bank and spoke with Nancy. Nancy said I was not the only customer to complain and at first blamed the post office, but later admitted that another customer had come into the bank to show that his envelope had not been sealed by the bank. It became obvious that Nancy did not like hearing complaints when she asked me, why I bothered to come back to Wallkill Valley Federal and open an account. I told her that I had thought by now (after all the years that past), Wallkill Valley Federal would have changed the way they do business, but evidently, that was incorrect and I would be discussing the situation with my husband when he got home from work. When my husband got home and heard what Nancy had to say, his reply was, "CLOSE THE ACCOUNT!" I might also add that I emailed the President of the bank who blamed the post office for the torn envelope and totally ignored the fact that the envelope was CLEARLY NOT SEALED and that's WHY the envelope was torn at the post office.

I'm happy to say that Gretchen was very helpful and honest. She walked me through the process and explained that the problem may not be able to be fixed until the purchase posted (luckily the purchase was made that morning, so I knew within an hour). She also helped me with reporting my card as stolen to avoid further issues. When I looked at my account on Monday I saw that the purchase had posted. I went back to the branch, Gretchen was there and remembered my situation. She helped me again and I received the money back in my account as promised. I am likely to keep my account with M &T mostly because she was willing to help me. I know that it's not the bank's fault, but the account is small and I was debating whether to close it out.
