Possibly the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant.
We were in London for the weekend and our hotel recommended this one, and it was only a five minute walk away. Even though it was a Saturday evening we were the only customers, which was a bad omen.
We were celebrating so ordered a bottle of champagne. They didn't have the bottle we wanted, so we had to get the next expensive one. The waiter then saw something in one of the glasses and stuck his finger in to retrieve it, but rather than get another bottle, he just left us the glass on the table and gave an embarrassed smile.
The starters arrived and they were fine, so we thought that things were looking up.
However, three of the four main courses that arrived were lukewarm and the waiter also tried to give us naan breads which we didn't order (which might have been understandable had there been other customers). We sent these three dishes back but they came back at the same temperature.
Enough was enough, so we said we were leaving. We offered to pay for the starters and most of the cost of the champagne, as we only drank about three quarters of it. The waiter did not like this idea, so he got the manager. Thankfully she knew how to handle customers and agreed to this.
It was a pity that the service was terrible, as the small amount of hot food that arrived was actually very good. Maybe that's why the place was empty when we arrived. read more
