Ms. Marion Coffee was very helpful when I found myself unable to follow a series of transactions…read morethat I had initiated. She was patient and understanding of my concerns. She explained things in terms that I could understand. It was impressed upon me that Southeastern Credit Union cared enough to 1. recognize me as a customer and 2. know my name and 3. had time to work with me - and did until I understood. The ladies at the branch in Tifton are very competent, welcoming and comfortable to work with.

The Tifton branch has to be the slowest place of business I have ever entered. We came in at 3 pm…read moreto set my son up a checking account, as he is getting his first job. The only person that could help, Miriam, was at lunch (at 3 pm) and they weren't sure when she'd be back. The other person is on vacation. Miriam showed back up at 3:15, but there was someone in front of us. We went to wait in our car because it was so stifling hot in the building. We came back in around 3:45 thinking 30 minutes was ample time to conduct business. We waited an additional 20 minutes before it became apparent Miriam was in no hurry to help or finish with her other customer. At 4:30, 30 minutes to close I realized she would not be able to help us today. I walked over to another open office, but no one was inside. I walked up to the teller counter and asked if there was a manager or owner I could speak to. The teller was being hesitant and then she finally said Miriam was the manager. At that time I didn't know who Miriam was, so I pointed towards her office and asked if it was her. The teller said yes. I asked if Miriam had a supervisor because if it took her 1 1/2 hours to help one customer then it was logical to say she wouldn't be able to help us in 30 minutes. The teller said Miriam liked to be thorough. I told her I understood, but most people would try to either A accommodate all of their customers needs or B at least have the decency to let them know it wouldn't be today. The teller was obviously messaging Miriam and asked me to write my information down for her to pass on to her supervisor. That seems unprofessional and unlikely that she would pass on that information. The teller would only tell me the name Mitchell Burton as someone who I could talk to. She didn't provide a number, email, or specific branch. From my calculations if Miriam spends 1 1/2 to 2 hours per customer, she's only able to help up to 5-6 customers a day. I didn't realize Southeastern Federal Credit Union in Tifton had so few customers, but I'm definitely starting to understand why. I chose this bank because I didn't want to have to deal with fees at regular banks, but it might be worth $10 a month to actually be able to receive decent customer service and actual assistance. I have a job and do not have unlimited time to dedicate to spend waiting on when Miriam sees fit to assist someone. I thought I was very reasonable waiting from 3 - 4:15 without a fuss. Mitchell Burton if you're out there, I hope you'll address this. Miriam, if you're reading this, I don't blame you one bit because you're living the dream. I'm sure you have a valid reason for treating people like trash.
