I'm a long time customer [I honestly don't know why] I have been promised THREE times last month [April] that a manager NOT a tech from my LOCAL Trugreen would call me regarding burn spots in my lawn from my FIRST treatment in March and what Trugreen would do for me. STILL WAITING!! Funny but I'm sure my phone will ring the next day or so with excuses. NOT a GOOD WAY to start a NEW YEAR !!! read more

I just canceled my service after 6 plus years. Past 3 years their service has gone downhill. Here are a couple of examples of their poor service over the past few years. I work from home and the day they said they were coming they never showed up and tried to charge me for an application. I was home the entire day and have cameras monitoring my property. No ownership in what they do. Every application is a different person doing it which tells me they have a high turnover rate. Last 2 applications they created burn spots in my yard. The customer service people are rude and disrespectful. They always have an excuse for their bad performance/results. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of TrueGreen. read more

Extremely dissatisfied!!!!!! I finish the year (2024) with the applications. Paid in full. The service is automatically on auto renewal. After a couple of treatments, One of which I had to request them not to send the person again. I Told them I did not want service to continue in 2025. In march 2025 they did a service anyways and I talked with a representative that day and I was not supposed to be charged and assured me the account would be deleted. 7 business days later I was still being charged. I had an argument with the rep AGAIN and it was like pulling teeth. Still not confirmed that service is canceled and that I would not be billed. Only that after 30 mins of arguing that she would submit it in for the bill to de cancel and service to be stopped. WTF.--- I will never recommend tru green !!!!!! read more

They are a total joke came out this Summer and totally destroyed our lawn. Manager came out to address this matter they were supposed to contact us in September to do a reseed. came out in October to do the reseed arrived did a pesticide treatment which was never to be done. Call me to respond to several requests. You have repeatedly mistakenly applied applications to my neighbors property despite the fact that I'm paying for them. My lawn is a disaster. Upon submitting my information online, I began being bombarded with sales calls and eventually, spoke with a gentleman who quoted me for 1/3 of the initial online estimate. He assured me there would be no "hidden charges" and only two services would be applied initially. Also, he assured me he would be there to assist in future matters. Once I gave my billing information, the phone call was quickly ended. A few days later, I was billed for more than two services, one I never even requested, and my estimate exploded to over +$200 the initial cost. I then spent hours speaking with multiple customer service agents and after hours of frustration, I cancelled all future services. The following day, after making a payment, I was double billed. Again, hours later, received no real help from customer service. Not to mention the services completed on my lawn were mediocre at best. I would NOT advise to anyone to hire this company unless you'd like to be scammed for mediocre work. read more

Found the service to be lacking - after spending nearly $1,000 my lawn was choked with weeds, and when I call to have it addressed I'm given a pitch for pest control - not acceptable. My over seeding failed in the fall because my lawn was choked with crabgrass, and now they show up and charge me for services I did not request. Unresponsive and not worth the cost. Blame you for their failed service. read more

very satisfied, lawn looks great, professional technicians, price is reasonable, can't make it look this good without there help

Our lawn use to be the envy of our neighborhood. However, service for the last 2 years have been very disappointing. A couple of weeks ago, Tru Green came out for a scheduled fertilizer service and my husband asked the technician why the lawn was looking so dull and brownish. We had already complained the year before about this same problem. The tech told my husband he should go to the hardware store to get something to put on the lawn. My husband was shocked at his comment and replied that's what we pay your company for. Several days later after the fertilizer was applied, my husband was raking the grass and saw big amounts of small grains of fertilizer in sections of both the front and back lawn. Then a few days later, the lawn had turned yellowish looking and appeared dead looking. It rained a good deal that week and with all the rain we've had, coupled with running our sprinkler system, the lawn should've come back alive. (See attached picture.) We are certainly not experts but it appears that the tech applied way too much fertilizer in some sections of the lawn. We have reported this to TruGreen and have been given the run-around. They have promised they would send a manager out to look at the lawn. We told them to call first to make sure we're home. In another phone call, they said someone did come out. No one notified us. We called again for the status and we have to explain the problem again to several more people. It would be nice to speak to one person who will follow through. It's been several weeks and we're still waiting on the call from the manager. It's absurd this company treats their customer like this. Their customer service policy is seriously lacking! We are seriously considering not renewing our service contract with TruGreen. read more

If it was possible to rate a company lower than 1 Star I would. Within the span of a month TruGreen destroyed my lawn to the point it's burnt and white. I had spent a large amount of money to have the lawn redone a few years back and in a month TruGreen killed it. Their claim - "cinch bugs" which seems to be a common answer in these reviews. Countless calls into CS, posts to Twitter and local Facebook groups, call backs promised and never followed up on from the local office. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. Don't sign up!!! I used them last year and noted the prices much higher this year so went with a competitor. I spoke with the sales rep from prior year at Trugreen when he inquired on whether I would sign up again and I told him I went elsewhere due to pricing. Lo and behold, approx 2 months later they call and leave message saying I have service scheduled!!! I called back immediately, sent two emails to customer service and the old rep saying must be a mistake. They charged my card from prior year! We complained and the charge was reimbursed but I have been getting calls every couple days being badgered to sign up. I spoke w another rep just a few days ago and told him still not interested. oh, Look calls and texts today! Considering reporting to the police. read more

All lawn companies tell you it can take more than one year to get your lawn right. Well I gave them 3 full years and every year it got worse and worse. One year then actually ran the lawn aerator on my drive way creating hundreds of holes. Grass was brown or non existent in 90% of my lawn. The one thing they did well was few weeds but even then still some. Trying to reach a manager is near impossible. After 6 weeks the manager's EA (executive assistance) got back to me. she could do nothing. I hired a different company and they did one application of fertilizer and they did the lawn aerator and over seeding. My lawn already looks better. I will say it cost more than Tru Green but I would rather pay more for quality, actual phone call returns and progress. My lawn essentially always looks like the before picture never they after you see in adds. If anything, its worse. NEVER USE TRU GREEN EVER!!!!!! read more

Disastrous. True Green has undone countless hours of work and two years of effort we have put into our lawn ourselves, prior to hiring TruGreen this spring. It's embarrassing, driving up to our house with literally the worst looking lawn in the neighborhood. Our front lawn came up green and lovely this spring, with just a few spots thinner than ideal. Our hope was hiring a professional service could get it ultimately to where we wanted it to be. What a mistake. The widespread damage to the lawn is stunning. On the other hand, it's surely worth noting that TruGreen Windsor's mosquito treatment has been very effective and we have appreciated the results of that greatly. read more

This is the third time within the last month and a half that I have written a bad review. First two related to: (1) absolutely destroying my yard when they aerated the yard and (2) barely performing a tick application (however in the 10 minutes that the technician was at my yard he did manage to spray and ruin my herb garden and raspberries). The latest screw up happened yesterday when the technician performed the "paid for service" at my neighbor's house and not mine. Now you would think this could have been prevented upon my neighbor seeing the technician pull into his driveway, right? Well not when the service is being performed on a Saturday at 6:45 a.m.!!! So inappropriate for them to be on-site that early!! Also how is it that they don't take care to make sure they are at the right house?! What makes matters worse is that my neighbor doesn't like to have anything applied to his yard!! TruGreen can't get out of its own way!! Do not hire this company. Hire anybody else!! read more

Don't do business with Trugreen. My lawn has died under TruGreen's lack of care. I have called on numerous occasions and can only get to a 1-800 call center. I keep being told that a service manager will call me and never get called back. TruGreen has completely failed to maintain my yard. A recent tech said I had chinch bugs. Three days later I easily pulled up an entire section of my front yard simply using my hands to reveal an infestation of grubs. TruGreen needs rip up all the dead turf and replant my yard immediately!! I am completely frustrated and angered by TruGreen's terrible service. I want answers!!! read more

Like other reviews indicate, do not sign a contract with this company. I tried it for one year and canceled because I saw no benefit to my lawn. (Maybe because the product sucks, or maybe its because on at least one occasion, I noticed they fertilized my neighbors lawn and not mine). I also didn't like the fact the contract just auto-renews each year. Starting the day after I called to cancel, the constant harassment by phone and mail began. Its been 6 months, and I'm still getting multiple calls per month. Received one yesterday and the customer service rep laughed at me when I told them to stop calling me, only to receive another call today. In short, don't get involved with this company because you'll never get out. read more

I had them for two years and my lawn has looked continually worse. I called it in twice over the years and they have sent specialists out who simply said yep, the grubs are getting worse and threw down some more grub killer... to no avail. My lawn looked better when I did it myself and occasionally forgot to apply something. This service is horrible. 5/9 - yes I did have preventative grub control as part of my purchased package for both years and I did private message you my account. Save your money. I hired TruGreen 2 years ago after speaking with one of their representatives, showing him areas of concern with my lawn. They suggested an extensive program of treatment that would drastically improve the appearance of my lawn. After 2 years of treatments, my lawn looks no better today than it did 2 years ago. In fact, many of the treatments were done so quickly that I'm not convinced that anything at all was done. Whatever materials they were using were clearly ineffective if not totally inert. Do not waste your time and money on this company. You'll get nothing but disappointment. read more

Stay away from this company! The don't deserve any stars. I contracted with them for 6 applications. I received notification the driver was at my home to complete the application and another notification saying the application had been completed. They NEVER applied anything to my lawn. I called and told them I have two ring cameras AND I work from home and no one came onto my property and they argued with me. I spoke With the sales rep and his manager at the Windsor CT location and was informed they would research. I never heard back and then a week later I received a bill for services they NEVER performed. Do not trust them! How many people have they most likely done this to?? STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Originally, I was a customer of TurfMasters, which was bought out by TruGreen. TruGreen has been servicing my lawn for 2 seasons now and has never looked worse. 2 years in a row now they burnt my lawn. Both times claiming it was "Typical of the season" because of the lack of water and hot weather. After the first year of them telling me this, I went out and got a sprinkler system. Not an excuse for the 2nd year. Don't believe a word these guys tell you. They are unqualified to diagnose any type of lawn problem. In fact they don't diagnose at all. After spending thousands of dollars with them (fertilizing, reseeding, aerating) I now have to spend thousands more to have someone else come in and fix their mistakes. 10/16/2018 update - I sent Chelsea (see response below) a message stating that I would love to discuss with her my issues. It's been 12 days and I have not heard anything back. So again, don't believe the lies. I have prepaid for the lawn service for more than 15 seasons. I also used to call the local office in Windsor, CT, for questions or requests and was always answered by a person, to my satisfaction. A week ago, my "local" call was directed to a central location where I was told that the wait to be answered is "longer than three hours"! I tried to call other offices in the state as well as some TruGreen national toll free 8xx numbers. All these calls were directed to the same "longer than three hours" wait queue. I just can not believe that a such large nationwide service company, as TruGreen, can get away with such a disgraceful customer service. Oh, yes, I finally got answered by one TruGreen number (844) 817-0972, the "call now for a quote" number. I was answered IMMEDIATELY by a person who told me that they only deal with prospective customers, have nothing to do with other Company operations, and can not help me. So, if you are a prospective customer, GOOD LUCK after you sign up! WHAT A WAY TO DO BUSINESS! read more

We didn't realize how great the mosquito service was working (we live on a 5-acre wooded lot) until we went to watch the fireworks in our small town. We remembered to bring bug spray (we didn't need it in our yard - ever!) but were all still bitten up like crazy. Your product works! read more

They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They applied product to an area they were not supposed to go into and it killed our sod. Their answer was that it is a cinch bug that caused the sod to die. I requested a call to discuss it and they did not call back. I don't understand how the bugs could kill the sod in straight lines like their machines. It was perfectly green grass till they applied fertilizer in an area that was not part of the contract. And the imaginary cinch bugs have not killed the other parts of the yard. I now have to replace it at my expense because they won't take responsibility. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

After cutting the grass that was contaminated with rust mold from TruGreen. Using contaminated equipment on my lawn has now killed off the nice green grass I had. I finally had to cut and bag all the contaminated grass. TruGreen promised to put fungicide on the lawn to kill the mold then later a manager calls and starts yelling at me stating I was only trying to get a free service. Well did they expect me to pay for them contaminating my lawn with rust mold? I was told they are not going to do anything period. They also stated they had other customers that have rust and they are not going to do anything for them either. They even lied again on their response to my Better Business Bureau complaint when they stated my neighborhood and state was infected with rust mold. Actually I had the only rust mold infected lawn in my neighborhood. The manager that responded never came out to see the mess. Well my account is canceled and I did get the balance refunded. About a week later on Sep 25 I was notified by the general manager from TruGreen at the Windsor, CT office that he was directed by corporate to refund all my money including what I paid to Turf Master for the years service I had prepaid. Waiting on that check though. I was also told that corporate was taking over my complaint. Well I'm waiting to hear from their corporate office. My lawn as you will see in the attached pictures is now mostly dead. I have a few green spots most of which are a combination of weeds and crabgrass that was not affected by the rust mold. What I expect from TruGreen and have said this from the beginning of my complaint is: Return my lawn back to what it was prior to the rust contamination, spray the fungicide as promised by one of their staff, apologize for screaming at me over the phone and return my money. The did do one, returning my money. Problem is now I have to pay to have my lawn sprayed with fungicide and reseeded and hopefully in the spring have green grass again. I already spent over $300.00 cleaning up the moldy grass when I cut the grass. I have 11,000 sqft of infected former green grass area. As I have told TruGreen several times I researched Rust Mold and found it goes dormant and then reappears if not treated. It blocks photo synthesis from happening which weakens the grass to the point other diseases kill the grass. I am posting pictures taken on Sep 25 & 26 after cutting the rust contaminated grass of my lawn. You can judge it yourself. This is what TruGreen needs to fix. As a disabled veteran I cannot do the work myself and will have to spend more money hiring someone to fix TruGreen's mess. I am not asking them for anything more than bringing my lawn back to its former green color and thickness. I hope no other customer ever has to go through what I have been put through by TruGreen. As I have stated they did return my balance and said they are returning what I paid for this year and appreciate that, they are however responsible for the mess and should take responsibility for damages caused by their failure to ensure contaminated equipment is cleaned prior to servicing another lawn. When you hire a lawn service, you expect them to know what they are doing and that they will respect your property. read more

Very professional, courteous and timely service at a reasonable price. Technician, Jeremy is very knowledgeable - really has a good handle on the trees and shrubs on our property and is great at spotting problems and treating them promptly and, most importantly, effectively. I'm convinced the treatment program we began last year has saved several trees and shrubs on our property. Too much for me to tackle on my own and definitely covers a lot more than I was ever able to do on my own. When we initially signed up for TruGreen our lawn looked terrible, and TruGreen took less than a full season to improve it dramatically, by year two it was nearly flawless. Fast forward to year 4... starting to get a lot of weeds again and it's looking just eh. This year, against our better judgement we signed up again, holing last year was a fluke. Well it wasn't. But now here's the real problem. They will come back and retreat if you have weeds, EXCEPT that they seeded (for $485) in AUGUST, then wouldn't come retreat because it would kill the seed. I told them I was done and to cancel. They came again. Then called to tell me I owed for a mosquito treatment - we were sold 3 treatments for $109 and got two for $118 (that's interesting math). I told them I was done, had already cancelled and if they showed up for the lawn again I wasn't paying. They promised to have a manager call me. You can probably guess one never did... but they tried to come treat again! I called again, this time a manager shows up and we work out an arrangement. They were coming for a final treatment today and he would follow up about the balance and whatever he could do. Nope. Never showed up. I called, and the balance hasn't been adjusted either. Ridiculous. I don't have the time to babysit this company to ensure they do what they promise. read more
