You could sit outside on the patch of 'grass' - but I'd wait for the summer months for that. Staff are super friendly and there's a selection of magazines / papers to grab if you're feeling the need to consume some literature along with your nosh. In all the madness of opening a new shop in the christmas period, Ross & Jon (OOTW parents) even had time to open a 'pop-up' Christmas Shop also in Granary Wharf - selling gift boxes and presents that my parents loved. The interior is chic, so is the graphic or 'branding', very simple and decadent but most of all the staff are genuinely lovely. Out of the Woods provides very affordable prices for high quality local produce and excellent personal service. I have, like most, a thing for good coffee and well delivered service with a sense that your custom is valued. For me this is exactly what Out of the Woods is about and does a damn good job at that! But a stone's throw from Cottage Road Cinema, Sebby's Deli, Beer Ritz and the other gems in the area, this little shop-come-art gallery-come-cafe is a real treat. I've wandered by a few times and cursed myself for not having the time to pay them a visit, so on a weekend wander, I made sure to pick this spot for a coffee. As you go in, there's a counter of fresh goodies right before you, including home baked cakes at seriously cheap prices. They've a deli shelf, with all manner of world-friendly and nicely made things, such as specialist teas, biscuits, Fentimen's drinks, and more. It's a treasure trove of treats, and that's before you've even ventured beyond the initial entry. It appears to be family-run, and the friendly chap who served us was incredibly pleasant, smiley, and welcoming. We ordered two coffees, and went through to the dining room area. This gorgeous front room (the café must be a part of their actual home) is beautifully decked out in red and white table cloths, kitsch little things, a cabinet of locally made jewellery, and all manner of local art adorns the walls. Paintings of various styles take up all available space, making this quaint room come alive with colour. I loved it. Then, you can step through into the secret garden. Literally just across the road at one of the pubs was a crowd of rowdy Otley Runners, and despite still hearing the odd 'waaaaaay!', I felt transported elsewhere. Somewhere serene, safe and as the name suggests, secret. The garden is shaded by a huge tree, and it's a fabulous little spot to sit and enjoy a cuppa. At the time, there was an unfortunate moment, where a fledgling wood pigeon had fallen to the ground and so the lady (who I assume co-runs the cafe) warned us that it was frightened and to watch out for it. The poor thing looked pretty bewildered, fingers crossed it survived the fall and lived to fight another day. The coffees we enjoyed were fabulous, freshly made, and huge. It's not often you get such a generous cup, so you're definitely in for a treat if you're a caffeine fan. They serve a range of sandwiches made to order, croissants, cakes, and other bites too should you feel peckish. This time, I fancied something more brunch-y, but I'll definitely be back soon for a bacon sarnie in the garden! Needless to say, I'm a real fan. If you're in the business of cakes, and eating particularly delicious ones, this place is where you set up shop. With most (if not all) being supplied by the eco-ethical cool local company That Old Chestnut, you can be assured you're in for a royal mouth treat. They're vegan, they're generously portioned, they're all about £2, and they're excellent. Yesterday I allowed myself to partake of a banana and chocolate loaf slice, and it was everything I desired, and more. Moist, flavoursome, chocolatey and with added nuts! I also had a few cups of the masala chai tea. Although I've forgotten the name of the tea brand, it was a fantastic cuppa, and perfectly reviving. The seating is varied, and plentiful for such a small space, so if you're lucky you can bag a squishy sofa. However, the plastic pawn seats are just as comfy, so grab a pew and get your thinking cap on. The music is ambient and unobtrusive, so there's no need to worry about loud chart distraction. It's a place to meet friends and catch up, it's a place to disappear into your own thoughts, it's a place to catch up on work poaching the free wifi, it's a place to delight in coffee, cake and tea. I hadn't time to test out the soup or sarnies, but I shall be back soon for more wifi antics and a deeper investigation as to the edibles -having been a fan of Bakery 164's sandwiches I'm sure they will not disappoint. It's such a comfortable place where not only did my latte and flapjack taste great but I could relax in the knowledge that they were ethical (I think). There are some very comfortable sofas (I gave up my chance to sit there as a largish group came in just behind me and I'm a nice, thoughtful guy) and I would very much like to settle down with a latte or two and a book for a long session of me time at some stage in the near future (they even have a bring one, take one book shelf). My only worry was that the ceiling looks a bit iffy and I had some chicken licken moments.

They have quite an extensive choice of teas, coffees, juices and smoothies, and an impressive array of cakes.....must try one next time as they looked gorgeous. As well as their standard tables and chairs (great if you're eating), they have some comfy looking armchairs in the windows, so you can do a spot of people watching whilst you enjoy your food and drink. Also, they have an outdoor seating area, great for when the sun is out! The place has only been open a few weeks, and they have done a really nice job with the conversion work.
