Scribbles & Giggles is a daycare only, not a preschool so please don't think your child will be…read moretaught anything. As a grandparent what I see is the attendants ( I won't call them 'teachers' since they don't teach) seem to be caring and willing to allow the children ample time for meals, play, & crafts. My only complaint is the three-hour nap time. There are children there who have stopped taking naps or only nap for a much shorter length of time than three hours. and are made to lay quietly doing nothing on their mats (a thin piece of plastic covered foam) on the floor for the three hours. If a group of adults were made to lay quietly doing nothing on a thin mat on the floor for three hours in a darkened room every day, there's no way that would be tolerated. It shouldn't be tolerated just because they're children.

I did not realize how unhappy my son was there until I moved him to another daycare. As we would…read morepull up every morning he would say, "I don't want to go to school." I figured it was because he didn't want me to leave. There were definitely mixed messages from the owner and her mother and the room staff. The room my son was in had a lot of staff turnover, the staff was not patient with the kids, confrontational with parents, and spoke rudely to the parents. If a child was sick in the room, they would ask to keep your child home "just in case" regardless of whether they had any symptoms. I loved how he had a space, the gym, to run around and play even when the weather was bad but there are barely any toys or activities in the gym. (Two plastic playhouses, about 4 toddler bikes, stand alone basketball hoops, and some balls. Every time I picked him up from the gym the staff was sitting against the wall on their phones. I couldn't justify keeping him there because of a gym. I now pay less for a daycare that provides dance class once a week, music class once a week, learning units, learning centers, actual cots to sleep on for naptime, self-care skills, and unstructured play time in the morning and the afternoon. There hasn't been any staff turnover since he has been there. They provide once a month daycare wide parent meetings via Zoom to provide feedback and to let you know of the different activities and upcoming events the daycare has planned. He loves "school" now and has not once complained about going. Don't just settle because it's part of a routine and easier. Listen to your children's behaviors and find a mentally healthy, nurturing, and stable daycare.
