Hair on the fitted sheets.
Netta M.

This location truly failed our expectations. I've stayed at other Tru locations recently with better experiences. The first room we checked into had a large cluster of black hair on the fitted sheet. I notified the lady at the front desk and she did make effort to get us into another room, without hesitation. The second room we checked into was even worse. There was visible hair on the bathroom door, some dark discoloration on the white ledge of the shower, dirt/dust buildup around the ceiling vent where the air was blowing and stains on the sheets. I called back down and reported this as well. We were already exhausted from being on the road all day. We were told to wait while another room was looked into by another staff, before transporting our belongings to that one, but we decided to check out and go next door to Courtyard Marriott instead. Its evident that cleaning isn't fully being executed as indicated on the "cleaning performance" sticker placed on the front of the doors.

24/7 coffee and tea is awesome!
Giselle C.

Travel for business is something that I do on a daily business. When I was on site for a client in Auburn, AL, this is the hotel that we stayed at. I've stayed here a total of 7+ nights over 4 trips. Previously I had tried the Marriott that was closer to campus, but we were trying to stay a little closer to the highway. Tru is a new brand by Hilton and it is an interesting concept - catering to the younger generation. Minimal decor in the rooms and more of a collaborative lobby space. There is a pool table and collab spaces in the lobby - the theme is very poppy colors. There is 24/7 free coffee and tea. Extra points for them because they have Truvia as a non-cal sweetener. The breakfast in the morning is free. They have the doughnut/bagel spread, bananas, apples, and oranges, hard boiled eggs, juices, yogurt, etc. Not a lot of hot foods for breakfast. Unfortunately, this is where I thought the lack of hospitality experience showed. The apples and oranges were always old and moldy, and the bananas most of the time were under-ripe. In addition, I've also eaten a rotton egg while I was there. The rooms themselves are cute. They are minimal in storage space and space in general. As for the mattresses, they are firm and are fine to sleep on. There unfortunately is no working printing at this location. They direct customers across the street to the Courtyard Marriott to print since they are under the same ownership. Would continue to stay here again- but this is a budget hotel. If you are looking for a kitchen in the room at the same price, the Marriott is also a great option.

From the moment we arrived, the service was on another level. At check-in we were offered a drink, and instead of just handing us a key and pointing to the elevator, someone personally walked us to our room and showed us around the property. I have never experienced that before at a hotel, and it immediately set the tone for the entire stay. The hotel itself is absolutely immaculate. Everything feels polished, calm, and thoughtfully designed. You can tell that every detail was intentional, from the atmosphere of the lobby to the way the staff interacts with guests. One thing that really stood out were the luxury touches throughout the room. The amenities included Bulgari soaps, body wash, and even perfume, which made the whole experience feel elevated the moment you walked into the bathroom. The marble soaking tub and spacious shower made the space feel more like a private spa than a typical hotel bathroom. Even outside the room, the design details continue. Right by our door there was literally a small moss garden built into the hallway area, which was such a unique and calming touch. At that point I was joking they might as well add a mini waterfall by everyone's door because the atmosphere was already that peaceful. They also offer thoughtful touches during the day like dessert hour, which made the stay feel even more special. It wasn't just a place to sleep -- it felt like a full experience. As someone who works in hospitality and kitchens, I naturally notice service and details more than most people. I have to say this hotel truly impressed me. This is honestly the level of hotel I would want to run or build one day. What I loved most is that everything felt warm and welcoming, not stiff or overly formal. The staff genuinely made you feel taken care of. If you're visiting Auburn and want a stay that feels luxurious, thoughtful, and memorable, The Laurel Hotel & Spa absolutely delivers.

The Laurel is THE luxury experience in Auburn. I have stayed at all the other hotels downtown and…read morethis is the best. Everything is different in a great way than so many hotels. Having been to Thrive Coffee and even in the lower floors for Auburn events I was not exactly sure how to get into it. However, there is a separate valet entrance. We were greeted immediately by a host who showed us around and brought us to the 6th floor to The Library where we were given lemonade with an option to spike it. This was not a wait in line for someone to help you. This was a concierge service the whole time. Our host brought us to the room and showed us around, who doesn't love an iPad to control your thermostat, your blackout shades, tv, and music. The room is deathly quiet. You can actually hear yourself think. The marble bathroom with the tv in the mirror, the separate water closet, shower, and bathtub with Bvlgari amenities is stunning. The bed is uber comfortable with high thread count sheets. The bar cart with items for mixed drinks is something I have never seen in the thousands of room nights ai have stayed all over the world. All and all this is a treasure. I hope I am able to stay here many more times. If you have an Amex Platinum card they have outstanding amenities that were available at this point...including free valet parking, free breakfast, and $100 voucher for restaurant or spa.

This property is last year's addition…read moreto the town of Auburn and is located next to a place steeped in legends: right across from the Skybar. The design of the hotel is something that is hard to compare to anything else. Full auburn theme, colors and details like stitching throughout the rooms. It appears like an extreme concept on the surface, yet, it's executed beautifully. This is not your run of the mill Westin or Hilton, it's a property with a lot of character and building something like this could not have been cheap. It feels bespoke and hits well above its price point. The rooftop bar is a venue on its own, providing incredible views of Auburn and a very reasonably priced wine selection. The food there is mediocre, but it's a great spot for drinks. Downstairs is a coffee shop, Bo Jackson's Beans, which maintains the design aesthetic and completes the lobby in a great way. The team is quick to respond and is very efficient to all guests needs. All around, this is a gorgeous boutique hotel that isn't just unique, but deeply rooted in Auburn culture.

The woman just gives me the keys & doesn't offer any info...no valet info, no food or other info. Had to ask questions. Sad for this level of hotel. The room is nice. Just know you can hear the Sky Bar across the street late at night. We were tired so it didn't bother us. Early AM it's the delivery trucks. The food is not great upstairs. Nice coffee bar. Added another night & front desk ok on phone. Prices are high but staying by 85 is not recommended in my opinion. Nice to walk downtown. One young woman at the front desk walks away when people come up. Not great & sets a tone for the hotel. Recommend staff training & mgmt be present as mostly young staff running the place. Great potential if more customer focus people.

I like that you can use the Hilton app to choose your room, so with all those factors, we chose one of the fourth (top) floor. The room was clean, and it was better updated than a lot of hotels we've visited lately. I did like that the in-room coffee offered was a pod system so we didn't have to make an entire pot. The hotel does offer breakfast for an additional fee ($7.95) if you aren't a certain level of Hilton Rewards member. It wasn't something we needed, so I really didn't pay attention to it, though I did see a nice table of coffee and beverages in the lobby as part of it. There is a Waffle House pretty much within walking distance, so there is something nearby if you prefer. There are also several restaurants nearby, and it's easy to get on/off the interstate nearby.

The sheets for it didn't fit. The room, in general, smelled like cat pee. The walls were not soundproofed. The carpet was gross (and ugly). Don't be filled by the updated entrance and lobby, this place is not nice. Omg, the bar and restaurant... what a joke. Almost forgot to mention there was trash on the floor and TV stand when we arrived.
