They asked questions, not just what I was looking for, but thoughtful questions, such as: what is my elevation, do I need something fast or slow growing, and if I'd be available to water a new plant liberally for first year. Then they advised me with just enough information so that I didn't feel overwhelmed, (IOW- 'stupid' ). I couldn't get over the variety of lush and healthy plants. I misread their website and thought they were open but as we pulled up, discovered they were closed but you could call for an appointment. As we pulled away, I called and left a message for the owner, hoping we might be able to come back later. About two minutes later, Michael, the owner called me and invited us to turn around and take a look. He gave us a tour and a education on his trees. We must've spent almost two hours chatting with him and ended up with several trees to take home at very reasonable prices. We will return when we make it to Asheville. We enjoyed our visit and will enjoy these trees! Be advised that like many smaller nurseries in NC, cash is preferred, so hit up the ATM before you go.

I would like to begin by saying I have many years of experience in dealing with a variety of…read morecustomers having owned a custom counter top manufacturing business for 25 years. We performed work for the major home centers as well as builders, contractors and retail customers. We had an excellent reputation for doing high quality work at reasonable prices with thousands of very satisfied customers. I rarely write reviews but I feel obligated to do so in this case. My business performed work for hundreds of customers who got burned and were greatly disappointed in the work of contractors they hired. I never dreamed I would be at the wrong end of one of these terrible experiences, but now that I have retired I must rely upon others to do the work I would have preferred to do myself. Dealing with Autrey Landscaping was a horrible experience. They did not perform the work they told me they would and instead stuck me with something I never wanted. In the week they worked on my job they never brought a garden hose! When my 75' hose was not long enough for their needs it was up to me to spend $50 on a new 100' hose. To call them unprofessional would be an understatement. They installed mulch on a steep slope even though our contract specifically stated they were to install "shot rock" on the slope along side my driveway. When the mulch began falling off the slope they returned and applied a jute mesh which only made matters worse, as now I have close to 20 spots the size of basketballs of exposed jute meshing. They refuse to take care of the problem so now I have no choice but to pay someone else to correct their work. I'm being told that is what you have to expect when you have mulch on a steep slope, but they were never supposed to install that anyway. I was well aware mulch would not remain in place which is why rock was to be installed. I also had numerous other problems in dealing with them. There were three things I specifically stated I must have and they screwed up two of them. I'll spare you the details but suffice it to say, these are not people you want to do business with.
